Hey there,

so I'm currently in a position with the U that I've played all of the games I'm interested in and i'm currently on my 2nd run through of Mario. With no new games that I'm interested in being released until late March, I've been considering picking up Skylanders. I've never played tit before, but the idea is something which interests me. What is it like? Obviously it is aimed at children, but is it possible for adults to enjoy it? and is it like Disney Infinity in that each character is like a brand new game?

Cheers for you help.

I only played a few mins, and just mainly seen my little brothers play it. I think yes it is possible for adults to enjoy it, the dialouge...is defiantly meant for the younger kids, but the gameplay is pretty solid. Each Character has different abilities which sorta do change the game, but it's mainly the same game. It's an Adventure game, with somewhat strange missions. But like I said solid gameplay. Worth a try. My brothers re-play a lot. So it seems it replay value. It's open world, other than missions and islands, ect.

Imagine the gameplay style of Diablo, 'cept a bit simpler and more kid-friendly.

The two games (I'm counting all home-console versions of the game, not handheld or iOS versions) are both very fun, enjoyable titles. They will cost you a fair bit of money, but they're not bad games at all.

My little sister bought it and its pretty fun to play with her, however I dont think I would buy it for myself, I wouldnt enjoy it nearly as much if I had to play it by myself, and its a tad pricy

The console versions are dungeon crawlers, while the 3DS versions are action platformers. That game has a ton of characters, each with their own attacks that can be upgraded in multiple ways ( upgrading stats, attacks, equipping items, etc.). Skylanders Giants on the Wii U only has 16 levels ( not counting the 4 adventure pack " DLC " levels), but since each level is very expansive, takes a while to beat, and has a ton of secrets. On top of leveling up characters, I think it's a great game. Though collecting the figures can get addicting, so it will be expensive. Especially since you need at least 8 different elements to beat the game 100% ( each Skylander has their own element, fire, water, etc. That can be used to go to secret areas), meaning at the least you're going to shell out $50 more to fully complete the game.

Yeah another thing I forgot to mention, a little pet peeve of mine. Is that when the Skylander dies, well they need to rest, for hours, and hours on end. Which ofcourse makes you want to go out and buy just one more. I think all together so far we spent $200 (Including game/starterpack) Almost 20 skylanders. Regular = $10, Giants = $15.

I'm pretty sure when the Skylander dies, you can't use it until you either finish the level, or exit/restart the level.

Well yes, but when all your skylanders die. You can choose to wait, buy more, or restart.

get it you will enjoy playing it the cost do mount up when you stat buying the figures and when you finish the game you can start a new game in nightmare mode true it has only got 16 levels but when you finish them the game is not done you have to play other parts to get 100%

This is my first post here for this forum...and I am having problem with this game (for my kids).

Just start few days ago...the system get error code "150-1031". It's about error reading the disc. I took the disc out and clean it..put back in and it worked for little bit ...then get the same error later. Somtimes the kids can play fine for hours and when they get the error and the keep getting the error. I called Nintendo already and told them that the disc got couple scratches..then they said the problem is the scratches and told me to call Activision...called Activision and they said the scratches may be the problem..they told me to test the disc with other system..but I dont know anyone around here that has Wii U.. If I dont get the error from other systems then the problem is the Wii U system that can read the disc....Well, dont know what to do now. i already exchange the disc (the whole starter kit) at Walmart without receipt (I lost it)..they let me exchange once..dont know I can exchange again...
Anyone has problem with this game?

Easiest way is to get your disc professionally cleaned so it will be like new again. Since you've had 2 discs now with the same problem, it's looking likely to be your Wii.

I haven't played Skylanders, but it is an interesting concept. Interesting enough to make DIsney Interactive copy :P(although the concept does make sense with disney characters.)
