Microsoft and Sony's fate

Microsoft is probably going to get a beating this gen if what they have said is true. Which it probably is.
Sony won't die neccessarily, they might actually live a bit longer- It is possible they have declined the whole "No Retail Games" idea.
I still think that SOMEONE might kick the bucket this gen.

Microsoft isn't in the red like Sony, so if anyone will leave this gen it would be Sony. Currently doing horribly financially. I doubt either will die though.
Sony may have financial problems, but at least their heart and soul are in the right place and is still very much supported. That means far more to people than a company that is wealthy, but gives abysmal customer service. Which is a bigger deal breaker to me. M$ needs to change its attitude. Doesn't matter if they are in money troubles or not. If there aren't enough people that want to buy from them, they will REALLY be up S**t creek without a paddle. They will be in far worse shape (speaking only about the Xbox Brand) than Sony has ever been.

Maybe i worded the title wrong. What the point of my post is:

and i hope its M$. i have a 360 and all i see are ads and things to buy. hell then even make you pay for stupid clothes for your avatar (which i have bought admittedly). it would also be nice to see the buttholes, who kept saying that "once the next xbox comes out, nintendo will be left in the dust", cry for their failed console.
can someone please explain to me why sony is in the "red"? i have never payed attention to things like that till recently and have been hearing it a lot here. what about their other electronics?

Looking at the 70million plus installed userbase of both ps3 and xbox lets assume that 1 in 20 pre orders their preferred console (and I think those numbers will prove to be way low) that would give eaither console a possible "launch" sales of 3.5 milllion (similar to wiiu). Also this will mean that a lot of people who traditionally buy more than one console couldl be forced into making a choice between the new xbox new ps3 or the wiiu..This cannot mean good things for the wiiu consoles prospects of becoming or staying number 1.Lots of people traditionally with money to spend on consoles/games will be holding it next year for the launch of ms or sony new console.
I see everyone quick to talk about ms or sonys flaws but not as quick to talk about what they do right. For instance ms xbox live is THE best (albeit paid) online service available.I also see one poster saying ms have nothing to do with games and as such only want money.Wow I can remember a time when all sony made was vhs players, walkmans and tvs.Surely they too have nothing to do with games?I welcome them both because they provide the competition that keeps the others on their toes.Gaming would be very boring if it were run by mostly long defunct companies, forget the heritage its about the willingness to take the risk and spend the money needed. This idea that nintendo cares about gaming because its what they have always done is rubbish. They are a company with profit margins and shareholders just like any other it is all about the bottom line.
I see there being room (just about) for three consoles this gen but someone no doubt will come off worse.I think its very blind of all of you to assume it will be ms or sony.

I don't have good Internet, so if these rumors are true than I'm gonna take a giant carp on microsofts front door
This. I already have issues while playing COD online, so no way in hell I will download a 10GB game ever.

Sort of think like the above, iv'e always bought all consoles, but this time i won't buy which ever one is download only as i buy a lot of pre owned games. I bought the WiiU as i could get pre owned stuff and i wanted to see if it was any good. It is and i'm happy enough with it.

Easy, game cases with codes in them or just cards with the scratch off ordeal to get the activation code. Boxes would be wiser for the pictures though I would figure. At least to provide some eye candy in order to drive in some potential debating customers. Heck it is done with Steam works titles all the time for activations in a box to have success. Why could it not be the same on another platform? But still, how can you advertise a console well without having games sitting right next to it?
Now, True, Sony DOES have a bad habit of copying its competition. However, They have provided AMAZING titles (including exclusives) and services. Ever since PS1. All things considered. They are a great company that does try there best and cares about its fans.
They are a business and do not care about you. Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony, et cetera are not friends to you and are only out to get your hard earned cash. Sure they may try to appeal something to their fans, but that is in turn to get your green and not be all buddy buddy to you. They are all the same in the long run like it or not. No matter which you want to put up on a pedestal. Also, yes, I know I cut your deal short on the second quote, but you make these companies sound like they are these saints. Which none of them are.Sony may have financial problems, but at least their heart and soul are in the right place and is still very much supported.
I guess Raptor Jesus will have to eat these companies CEO's and others down the line huh. Poor people trying to make digital distribution a reality, when boxed games are so obsolete in so many ways. Oh well I guess we will have to praise the almighty in their backwards ways, because they know best.YOU CAN'T STOP BOXED GAMES, IT'S JUST NOT RIGHT, I THINK JESUS WILL HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY ABOUT THIS.

And how could you even assume that someone would 'kick the bucket' even in case of failing at the console business ? Sony is a giant, its game division is just a small part of the whole company. Even if Orbis fails, in no way it would lead to the downfall of the colossus of Sony. Same with Microsoft. Xbox is a big project, that is true. But Microsoft profits from Windows mostly. It owns the PC market. Don't forget about that.

A company must care about it's customers to make sales.
Nintendo included a free HDMI cable in the Wii U box, and have allowed free repairs for all of the broken Wii Us.
I don't agree or disagree with you, but i hate it when people are negative about everything.

You will one day i'm sure. I have downloaded 2 in the last week alone. Once your internet is improved digital will become more attractive. With that being said I don't think the world is anywhere near ready for a digital only solution for anything but some indie games etc.

A company only needs to distribute a product within an ideal of what a consumer will want. This does not mean it has to care for the customer. Do you buy a clock to hang on your wall and go, "Hmm, they really care about me because they put this or that in the box". It is all about supply and demand, and not how they overall treat you.A company must care about it's customers to make sales.

They gave you an HDMI cable with the product in order to use the said product. It is almost like buying an electronic with no power cable included, as no one really does this. I assure you if they did not include an HDMI cable they would have easily included another form of cable, but the more modern format now unlike ages ago is HDMI and not composite or component. As for HDMI cables in price well I can get them for $1 to $20 USD depending on the length, connector type, quality, brand, et cetera. HDMI cables are very inexpensive these days and it is not like Nintendo is at a lose over including something for say 2 to 5USD. (http://www.amazon.co...60386843&sr=1-4 | Only an example of a higher speed cable for cheap. Not saying the brand is grand or anything, but seriously if you find that extremely nice for this kind of include I laugh at you).
Nintendo offers free repairs under a time frame of a warranty like any company. These days it is standard business practice to place a form of warranty and sometimes an extended warranty plan with an electronic. Some companies may delude you with a little longer warranty plan than others, but this does not mean they care for you. For example, say I owned an electronics shop that did repairs. I gave you a few bucks off repairs. Does this mean I like you? No, it only means I am providing a service to satisfy you in some way to come back to me for more business. As no business is going to not do some kind of courtesy towards the customer when trying to sell you something. Being as the customer is always right in terms of business even if they are complete idiots on what they are purchasing.
Always negative? In what way? I guess, because the world is quite unfair and negative. No one really gives you something for free without some kind of hidden agenda or a plan for greater gain. Sort of like when you get them so called "Get X amount off when you purchase this item with this one". When the overall value to produce said items or purchase of said items was lower than the initial value they sell the products to you at.
Windows 8, what about it? It is selling and will continue to sell regardless of your opinions on it. I personally do not like it either, but it is bundled in every computer on display in stores now. People need computers, tend to flock to what they are comfortable with, and price. Not many people are going to just up and change to an Apple OS when they can do similar tasks for cheaper. Specially if they are just buying it to surf the internet or do other mediocre tasks.

Yeah no doubt I will, but right now, for the coming few years most likely.. it's really crap and it would almost literally take days. Games are getting bigger and bigger too (40GB isn't unheard of anymore), so that's another issue

Where in the world did you find a game of 40GB? Worst I have seen on a console would be say Ni No Kuni 27GB for the full game. Even then the standard size for most games are 1gb to 5gb and maybe ten to twenty range if they are poorly coded or horribly compressed. Specially when it comes to media files being uncompressed. Yet compressed they can still be rather large depending on format of course. As for PC the worst I have seen was Rage being 25GB. I am just curious what game is 40GB because that is very unheard of within all the multiple releases of games pushed out I have seen over the years.Yeah no doubt I will, but right now, for the coming few years most likely.. it's really crap and it would almost literally take days. Uncharted 3 is just under 50gb, Killzone 3 is over 40gb. Just to name two I know of. Rage for me was closer to 30GB on pc (this was after the new dlc though), and Max Payne 3 is over 30GB on PC.
Large games like this are rare and I imagine will continue to be so for quite some time, though the do exist.

Ah, don't own Uncharted 3 or KillZone 3 for that matter so never heard of such of a thing. Specially it being rarer in most all cases. PC wise Rage do you have the DLC? Perhaps that makes it much larger depending on the content & its supposed quality. (Shrugs) I for one have not even played the game because of all the issues it had with ATi cards & some Nvidia cards drivers. Then it was all, "Oh use the beta drivers. The game was designed more around them crap". Even the games elected forum team moderators suggested the same thing. I quickly installed that game after my supposed Rage. Anyway, Max Payne 3, yet another game I have not played & isn't that game loaded down with shovel ware like DLC as well? Next why is every big game but one a three? xDUncharted 3 is just under 50gb, Killzone 3 is over 40gb. Just to name two I know of. I do have the Rage dlc, I personally just created a modded .ini to change the fov and make it so the textures where only ever using the highest quality ones available and have no pop in. With that bieng said I shouldn't have to do that, but it isn't at all hard and I generally play around with configs anyway as most games can be made to look notably better (even pc developed first games like crysis).
Max Payne 3 does have a lot of dlc, but most of it does seem to be new content. I picked it up on sale recently and will play through it soon. The little of the multiplayer I did play was extremely fun, though the little I played of the sp had a very different tone to the first two games that I am not particularly keen on thus far.
