If you were to get a new console and tried to do an update will all the updates be rolled into one or will i have to do it bit by bit?
There have been two updates so far. Anyone who got the console after the 2nd one can probably answer that. Other then it's hard to say although they should in practical terms be rolled into one.

System loads extremely slow, but apparently they are fixing that soon™
The Wii U is actually slower then the older Xbox 360.

They had to "rush." its why the OS takes up so much ram.
It may take a while, but Nintendo is optimizing. There is a LOT they are trying to accomplish. But they tend to put a lot of responsibility on a few people. So they are taking a bit longer to tighten it up.
The transition speed is almost expected. But it's annoying.
It will be worked out.
