They didn't say anything about the specific games, justsaid that there will be some Sega exclusive games for the Ps3 and Vita.

Considering NeoGAF seem to think the Wii U GPU could have a maximum of 352GFLOPS and the PS4 GPU is supposed to do 1800GFLOPS, it also has four times the RAM and more than double the CPU cores.

Even if:
a) Sony are exaggerating again
http://s.thewiiu.com...O_DIR#/cool.png the numbers are not directly comparable due to differences in architecture

Its pretty obvious that the PS4 WILL blow the Wii U away.

You could probably run a Wii U off the heat alone that the PS4 will kick out of its air vents. ;-)

No amount of wishful thinking will get you round the fact that once they start using all that 8GB of RAM of the next-gen consoles, the game simply won't scale down to 1GB of RAM. In fact that is likely a much bigger problem than the GPU or CPU power.

The problem is, it's not obvious. We know the specs of the PS4. And those are customized mid range parts. Nothing to special. My home computer I just built has more power. And then you are using speculation on the Wii I, which we can't confirm or deny.

I don't think the graphics will be noticeably different. I could be wrong, as O said myself, we simply don't know what is in the Wii U.

We know enough about the Wii U to make a fair assessment of the console.  I know a lot of people want to hold out hope that there is some "magic" in the console that will bridge the gap between it and the PS4, but just like those false hopes that people held onto with the original Wii, its just not there.  If you look at what we know about the GPU in the Wii U, the performance should be very similar to the HD5550.  An energy efficient design that offers solid performance but is definately a couple of genrations behind the GPU in the PS4.  The GPU obviously leans very heavily on the edram, and getting the most out of it requires making the most of that edram.  Bandwidth to the main memory pools is just to low.  If you look at benchmark test done on the HD5550, one with DDR3 ram and the other with GDDR5 you will see a 20-25% increase in performance when using GDDR5 ram.  Memory bandwidth can starve a GPU, and if developers arent making full use of the edram, that could easily cripple the GPU's performance.  If you try to treat the Wii U like a PC, PS3, or even the 360 your not going to get the best performance possible.  The edram in the 360 was limited in its use, and was limited in size.  The 10MB edram in the 360 couldnt even hold a 720p frame with AA, while the 32MB in Wii U can hold that and have plenty left over for other things like textures.  I have a feeling that when properly using the edram the GPU will perform very similarly to that same GPU with GDDR5 ram.

The CPU in the PS4 is a tablet/notebook CPU, so that doesnt give me the "nextgen" vibe.  I do think that on a core to core basis, the Wii U CPU should be very comparable, but its going to be at a four core dissadvantage.  I say four because the Wii U has a DSP for audio, and the PS4 will surely use one of the eight cores for sound.  Time will tell if developers can truly begin to multi thread their code.  So far very few games disitribute the workload over more than four cores, with the first two cores being the only ones that are maxed out.  A lot of developers will love the X86 Jaguar simply because they are familiar with the architecture, but raw performance isnt that impressive.

The sheer quantity of ram is where the PS4 kicks major butt.  Developers will love it, and will cut down load times and allow for high quality textures.  A lot of people think that 8GB of GDDR5 ram instantly means tons of NPC and crazy draw distance.  Its true that it makes those things possible, but the GPU still needs to be able to draw all that, and the PS4 will probably become GPU limited before it becomes memory limited.  The PS3 and 360 were memory limited.  They maxed out the memory pipeiline before the GPU saw max performance.  The 360 and PS3 had great memory bandwidth, but still only had the 512MB of data to work with.

In the end I believe the Wii U is about twice as powerful as the 360 while the PS4 will be about 5 times more powerful than the Wii U.  Its going to be noticeable, but I still feel that it will be more of a PS2 to Xbox type of difference than the Wii to 360 difference we saw last gen.  Game engines are very scalable, and the 360 will likely remain the lead platform for multi plat titles for at least a couple more years, so Wii U has two years to prove its worth to developers/publishers, and if sales are good they will dedicate the resources to make proper ports of PS4 games down the road, even if it takes some extra work.

id like a conduit if they make it right, the first 2 had some good groundwork but had massive issues.
