I have Astro A50's. They work for audio through the optical out from TV. No microphone though.

Have you thought about using a 2.5mm(or whatever the size is for the 360 chat cable that comes with the headset) to 3.5mm adapter with the 360 chat cable to plug it in to the gamepad? I dont know if it will work or if you'll get double audio but that was one setup i was thinking about.

If you are still on the fence you could get the game fly 1 month trial and get it, try it and decide if you like it enough to buy it. Thats what im doing with other wii u games that interest me but im not wanting to spend the money unless i like the game.

I just got my deluxe at best buy this morning. I was 4 of 10 deluxes they had.

Same. With this news I am going to check in with my local best buy tonight to see if they have receieved their black friday stock and see if that includes the wii u.
