About Me
I do not yet own a Wii U. This forum seemed like a nice enough place and has some areas devoted to other consoles/games, so I figured... why not.
For those who don't know me at MLP Forums, I'm one of Feld0'sgoons administrators over there. I'm a Trekkie, a fan of all things Forgotten Realms, a Linux aficionado, a coffee connoisseur, and generally an all around nerd.
Well met.

#158034 What is your favorite gaming system?

Several of my favorite game franchises got their start on the NES, and some of them persist to this day with good and sometimes lackluster installments. But it was during the days of SNES that everything really seemed to shine. Maybe the transition to 16-bit left less to the imagination because of the improved graphics and sound, and all of the technological enhancements that would come with later consoles just didn't impress in the same way. Eight-bit music is somehow charming and provides its own kind of excitement, but there's just something about 16-bit music that I find entrancing. That was also the point when video game music started to become recognized as "real music" by many people.
Two of my favorite series, Final Fantasy and Castlevania, had what is in my opinion their best installments on the SNES. Castlevania IV's control scheme is the best of them all, even to this day. Final Fantasy VI is my favorite in that series in pretty much every category: graphics, music, plot, and gameplay. The Genesis had a fantastic library of its own, but the SNES is king of what I feel was the greatest era of the industry. Super Mario All-Stars and Super Mario All-Stars/Super Mario World is also the first multicart I ever played that didn't suck
I think my 3DS may have recently usurped the title of favorite handheld from my GBA.
Everyone knows it had the best Zelda games of all time.
