I really prefer using the remote. I can do it one handed and it's fast. Try holding a squirming, screaming baby while also trying to hold onto a heavy akward gamepad with two hands just so you can control the wii u and netflix. NOT easy. Also, not easy for a 3 year old to use.
And maybe I have a defective unit because my wii u is HORRIBLY slow. Far slower than the wii. It takes forever to load anything. I never had to wait this long on the wii. I have good internet, my mom had amazingly fast internet, and it sucked on hers too.
I'm not going to go buy an hdtv. I hate them. The picture is crap on them, even with an hdmi cable and I hate the widescreen. I've avoided them so far. Plus, I don't have the money for the ridiculous price they are. I didn't buy the wii u, it was a gift.
My wii u is right next to my tv, not far away. And I do know technology. Probably more than you think I know. Knowing about it doesn't necessarily mean liking it. I know quite a bit about computers and always had the latest gaming machine. My mom has always bought the latest and greatest stuff. Still doesn't mean I like it or think it's amazing. I actually prefer old school. Hate hdtv. Love the big bulky heavy square tv's. Actually still use cassette tapes (gasp!). And VHS! Even though the quality sucks, I still prefer them.
Seriously, I just asked for help on any tips for getting it how I want it. A simple, "No, there is no way of getting a title screen like the wii had ", would have been great. Or any tips on how to make it more user friendly would have been helpful. Because I really don't think it is. My husband thinks it's crap too. But all I get is a bunch of, "deal with it" and "learn technology" and "blowing things out of proportion". Really? Let me guess, most of you teenagers or early 20's? I'd probably love the wii u too if I was that young and the only one using it. But I have a young family using it. And Nintendo is supposed to be family friendly. That's the only reason we have a wii and not another gaming machine.
Even though I'm very knowledgeable tech wise, I'm still proud to be living in your grandpa's generation. People had manners back they and were very polite and had morals. Just because it's "basic crap" doesn't mean it's better or I like it. It's crap.
