#308420 Wii U Zelda Map Analysis

Posted by TheUltimateWaddleDee on 07 February 2015 - 01:30 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Honestly I see myself exploring and doing whatever i may do before I even enter the first dungeon.. I may try to do them in reverse order if that is possible!

If they design this just like the first one, then you could probably do that. I've seen runs that did the second dungeon last, doing the first dungeon third, and much more.

#308430 Get your hopes up about Zelda Wii U and Xenoblade X, but not too much (imo)

If you looked on that same page, it was only claimed that it would be 50 for the idea that discs could be dual layered, but that would make the streaming of the data take longer, affecting the quality of the seamless world. Try harder next time.

#308450 Wii U Zelda Map Analysis

Oh yeah, the first zelda had mostly weapons upgrades, and very few actual movement upgrades.

I think it was the ladder, flute and the raft that were the only progression obstacles in the game found in dungeons.

I think I recall the 8th dungeon being a hugely popular one to go to early, if just to get the magic key. You could buy the candle, get a bomb drop, and loot the 8th dungeon in under like, 10 minutes?

That is true. You don't even have to finish the dungeon; you could just get the magic key to not worry about locked doors. It's fitting how the magic key is in the second to last dungeon in the game, but it is most useful if you break the dungeon order, which encourages exploring and experimenting. Players that go directly through the game in order have to worry about having enough keys (not usually an issue because keys aren't limited by dungeon as they are now), but if you decided to look around and try the 8th dungeon first you were rewarded with something incredibly useful. While the dungeons have a listed order, there was nothing restricting the player from going in whatever order they chose, and that's what I miss about Zelda. A Link Between Worlds was great about going through dungeons in any order, but all the major items required for dungeons were in Ravio's shop, so you didn't discover them (I haven't finished it, so if there's something that I'm missing I apologize). In the first game, you found items in dungeons, so you had that sense of discovery. It also happened to avoid the trope of using the item you get in a dungeon up until you go to the next one and get a new item by making the item you get not necessary in that dungeon. The boomerang was useful in the first dungeon, but it wasn't required for the boss. The first game got it right, but then later games somehow follow that trope (which I believe was set by Ocarina of Time. I'm not to sure; I haven't finished Link's Awakening or A Link to the Past). That's why I'm glad that Zelda U is looking towards the original for inspiration.

I kind of rambled on a bit, but I don't think I really got to talk about why I think Zelda 1 is the best one in detail. I'm just super excited for this game in the same way you're excited for Xenoblade (and this game, as we seem to have similar reasons for excitement).

#308579 Iron Fall Invasion - Out Friday for EU

Posted by TheUltimateWaddleDee on 09 February 2015 - 05:51 PM in General Gaming

If this was exclusive to the New 3DS I would get one for this game. I was going to get it back when it was only going to have a single-player campaign, but now it has local and online multiplayer! It's one of the best looking 3DS games, AND it's in 60 FPS. I'm going to love this.

#308944 Smash Bros Rayman - confirmed FAKE

Posted by TheUltimateWaddleDee on 14 February 2015 - 04:52 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Fake Confirmed

There is a new rumor going around for Smash Bros. It appears that Rayman may be DLC for for the game. There are pictures of him on the character select screen, his player portrait, and his unlock screen. What gives this more legitimacy, however, is a video of him on the character select screen. Do you guys think that this is real? Would you be excited to use Rayman in Smash Bros? Rayman does already have a model in the game, and this looks like a new render of him, so this may be legit.

#309326 Post One or Two Interesting Facts About Yourself

Posted by TheUltimateWaddleDee on 20 February 2015 - 09:45 AM in The Café

I am a paternal triplet, with two girls and one boy (me). 3 eggs. 3 sperm. I was also born a month early. It' kind of a miracle that I was born with no problems.

Not so much about me, but my cousins share the exact same story as I do: Paternal Triplets and 2 girls and 1 boy. We are also born almost exactly 6 months apart (June 15 versus December 20, which also happens to be my parents' anniversary).

#309752 What Color is the Dress?

Posted by TheUltimateWaddleDee on 27 February 2015 - 08:39 AM in The Café

So this dress has managed to divide the Internet in a matter of hours. Some people think it's Blue and Black, while others see it as Gold and White. I decided to have a little fun with this and see what you guys think.

Here's a link if the picture if it's not working.

Holy crap thats an over exposed shot. Either that or the sun itself is touching down behind the dress.

I guess its supposed to be a gif, but nothings changing, so all I can see is the white/gold dress in front of the super nova.

It's supposed to be a picture. The whole thing is that the exposure is screwing with what color people see the dress.

who gives a crap it's a frikin dress you pansies.

I just felt like seeing what people saw it as, considering it exploded all over the internet in a few hours.

#310689 Nintendo gone Mobile/Nintendo NX system

Posted by TheUltimateWaddleDee on 17 March 2015 - 03:48 PM in General Gaming

Depending on the release date it could be their hybrid system. X is used by Japanese companies as "Cross" (Think Street Fighter X Tekken and Project X Zone), so it could be that. However, a hybrid system should come out in 2017 or 2018 because that would fall in line with the expected end of the Wii U and (New) 3DS's lifecycle (Wii U being 5-6 years and 3DS being 6 to 7, which is similar to their other systems, such as the DS, Gameboy, and every home system). However, it's status as a 3rd Pillar implies an earlier release date, but a hybrid wouldn't be good for the Wii U. This is all very interesting, and I can't wait to hear more about it, probably at E3.

I just hope that by Smartphones and Tablets, they include Windows Phone, 8, and RT. So many apps skip out on the Windows Store it's not funny. I am speaking as the owner of a Surface Pro 3. I also hope that the PC section is an application and not just a website. If you're going to have an application for an external device, you have to make it available everywhere. I'm talking iOS, Android, Windows Phone, OSX, Windows 7, 8, 10, Linux, Chrome Store, and anywhere else possible. Get this out to anyone and everyone.

#310719 Nintendo gone Mobile/Nintendo NX system

Posted by TheUltimateWaddleDee on 18 March 2015 - 02:05 PM in General Gaming

I'm reading it over again, and it says that we won't here more of NX until next year. That fits with an average console lifespan of 5-6 years if it releases the year after it's announced. This isn't a third pillar: this is the next gen. The picture in the OP is about the membership service. That will still include Wii U and 3DS, like how PS+ is still on PS3 and Games for Gold on 360.

#310800 Kojima Expected to Leave Konami After MGS5

Posted by TheUltimateWaddleDee on 19 March 2015 - 05:45 PM in General Gaming

Kojima doesn't really have anything left to tell with Metal Gear. He will finally be free to make other games, and I'm positive that the rest of Kojima Productions would follow him; they're his own personal MSF.

Konami really did lose something here. When was the last time something exceptional came from Konami that wasn't Metal Gear? PES is an annual sports game that gets consistently beaten by FIFA,  Lords of Shadow 2 and Mirror of Fate weren't well received, Suikoden is dead, there was a new Contra teased a few years ago at E3 and we still don't have anything, Zone of the Enders HD flopped so 3 was canceled, Silent Hill was going nowhere until PT (which was created by Kojima, now will you look at that?) and I'm not even sure if they realize that they own Hudson Soft. Konami as a whole will be fine because of slot machines and things like that, but as a games company? It's not looking too great. They will probably make Rising 2 and remakes of the MSX Metal Gears before trying to outsource the series like they did with Silent Hill. They removed all likenesses that Kojima Productions had in MGS5, probably to distance him before they attempt to keep the series alive. Meanwhile Kojima will be in complete control over what he can make.

The thing that I want to know is when he leaves, does he get the rights to the Fox Engine? His studio was the one who created it since 2008, and he's always been the person showing it off, but was that on their own time or did Konami tell them to create it? I hope Kojima is the one who can use it, because it really is an impressive engine that would be wasted without an amazing game behind it.

I wish Kojima the best, and I hope that Konami learns to regret their decision.

#311304 Who are YOU voting for?

Bandana Waddle Dee. He's been in the past 3 Kirby Games, is basically the fourth main character of the series now, and he's adorable and badass af.

#311696 Zelda Wii u delay = NX launch title?

Posted by TheUltimateWaddleDee on 08 April 2015 - 03:15 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I think you guys are forgetting one important difference between this and Twilight Princess: there was already an original Zelda game out for the Gamecube at that point (in fact there were two). Wind Waker HD is a remake and I'm 96.8% sure that they aren't counting Hyrule Warriors as this console's premier Zelda game.

#311877 Splatoon Voice Chat... the reason we wont get it

Posted by TheUltimateWaddleDee on 11 April 2015 - 07:54 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Gamepad has a mic on it and you can video chat. MK8 lets you post match. Again I say why is it a big deal people praise Dark Souls and Journey and niether have voice chat either.

Because those games aren't team-based shooters that would actually benefit from voice chat? In Dark Souls/Journey, the multiplayer is about the interactions with complete strangers when they were in your world; you weren't supposed to communicate with them outside of vague hints in Dark Souls that were meant for the player to figure out and decide to trust. Here, the multiplayer is more team-based than most other shooters, so the lack of vocal communication between teammates is actually a big deal because you can't strategize about the best ways to cover an area or call for help when something unexpected happens. It's like not being able to speak to your teammates in a sport or your co-workers on a project.

#312071 SMASH 1.0.6 Update - 6 Stages Added To 8 Player Mode - Share Replay Data...

Posted by TheUltimateWaddleDee on 15 April 2015 - 12:14 PM in Wii U Games and Software

So this is great and all, but you all need to ask the big questions, like does the screen move when you move the right stick? I'm still recording replays, so idk, but I heard that it does.

#312096 Black Ops 3 headed to Wii U?

Posted by TheUltimateWaddleDee on 16 April 2015 - 05:41 PM in Wii U Games and Software

People still play these games? I really wish the series would just die out but people keep throwing money at it for some strange reason.

It's like a bag of Doritos: it's mindless fun that you can easily enjoy, but it's not that great and you can do much better.

#312099 Black Ops 3 headed to Wii U?

Posted by TheUltimateWaddleDee on 16 April 2015 - 06:26 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I wouldn't call a bag of doritos 'mindless fun' but I get what you mean. I also wouldn't call these games cheap because they're full priced retail games, they're definitely accessible and that's the main source of appeal but it's just odd to me that these companies can sell the same game and people still pay good amount of money for them. It's the same damn game and it's not even a good one, like you both said it's accessible, mindless fun. Consumers are stupid.

Cheap fun as in simple. It doesn't make you think, nor is it difficult. Also, even though they're all mediocre at best, there is a noticible difference in lit between the three studios, with the Treyarch games (the ones I like) being the best of the three.

#312200 Keep save files on Wii after transfer

Posted by TheUltimateWaddleDee on 21 April 2015 - 03:45 PM in Wii U Hardware

I don't think that Wii Fit connected online, so you should be able to back up your data to an SD card. Just Dance could be problematic, because I believe that can connect online to buy songs. I'm not to familiar with either game, but if it connects online, you can't save it to an SD card.

I've been playing through MGS3 again, and I keep forgetting how many different things you can do to meet your objective. I've also been playing Kirby Triple Deluxe, Pokemon SoulSilver, Platinum, and Alpha Sapphire.
