#295157 Resident Evil HD "Remaster confirmed for PS3/PS4/360/XB1/PC

Posted by Zinix on 06 August 2014 - 07:05 AM in General Gaming

CAPCOM BRINGS BACK CLASSIC RESIDENT EVIL™ FOR NEXT AND CURRENT GEN PLATFORMS

Highly Demanded Fan Favourite Horror Title Returns in 2015

London, UK. -- August 5, 2014 -- Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced Resident Evil for PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, PlayStation®3, Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft and PC. Resident Evil will be available to purchase digitally across Europe and North America in Early 2015.

The hugely popular Resident Evil series, having sold over 61 million units to date, returns to its roots with a remastered version of the critically acclaimed masterpiece, Resident Evil. Originally released in 1996, Resident Evil was then "remade" in 2002 from the ground up with new visuals, gameplay elements, environments and story details whilst retaining the survival horror atmosphere the series had become synonymous for. Both fans of the franchise who want a trip down memory lane and those who are yet to experience the game that coined the term survival horror for the gaming world will appreciate this definitive re-visit of that iconic 2002 Resident Evil title.

Using the latest resolution enhancement and 3D model technology, game resolutions and textures have been significantly upgraded, including 1080p support on next-gen consoles, resulting in characters and backgrounds coming to life in greater detail than ever seen before in Resident Evil. Not only will the graphics impress but the tense sound effects have been fully remastered with 5.1 surround support for a greater gaming atmosphere. Players are now able to choose not only between experiencing the terror at the classic 4:3 ratio or a stunning 16:9 widescreen mode but also the type of control scheme they play with. The classic control scheme remains for fans of the original play style or there's an alternative scheme where the character moves directly in the direction of the analogue stick, utilizing the standards of the current generation of gaming. Both the control scheme and the display options can be toggled between at any time during gameplay.

The intense horror fans first experienced with the release of the original Resident Evil is back. Taking place in the now notorious Raccoon City, players choose to take on the role of either S.T.A.R.S. (Special Tactics and Rescue Service) team member Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine who have been sent into the city to find the missing Bravo team. When the team is suddenly attacked by a ferocious group of mutated dogs, desperate for an escape they take shelter in the Mansion, but will they ever get out alive again? Players will need to be brave as they adventure through the dark, enclosed spaces searching out the horrors that await them. With limited ammo and survival items available gamers will need to keep their wits about them to survive the various traps and puzzles that greet them at every stage.

#294817 Gamescom News for all companies.

Posted by Zinix on 02 August 2014 - 04:12 PM in General Gaming

Nintendo is holding another tournament:

The Super Smash Bros. tournament that was held at E3 was the first ever Nintendo-sponsored Super Smash Bros. tournament and Nintendo did the same thing again at the San Diego Comic-Con for the Nintendo 3DS version of the game. Now it looks like Nintendo will be repeating that success in marketing by offering a Super Smash Bros. tournament for Gamescom attendees.

Currently Nintendo is looking for a German host for the tournament, so if you’re interested you should check out this page for more information. According to the post, Nintendo will be offering those chosen for commentator positions a copy of the game on both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, as well as their choice of three Amiibo figurines once they’re available for launch. For those who will be attending Gamescom to check out everything the company has to offer, you’ll be able to participate in the tournament!

Gamescom is an annual event that is held in Cologne, Germany. This year the show takes place from August 14 to August 17.

Microsoft will drop bombs :

Microsoft has announced that its Gamescom 2014 Xbox briefing will take place on August 12, and hinted at some of the things that might be revealed.

he whole thing will be livestreamed through Xbox Live, Xbox.com, and the Xbox Twitch channel; Microsoft cheekily says that the briefing will include "big surprises you will not want to miss."

The Xbox briefing kicks off at 1pm BST, which works out to 5am PT. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare's multiplayer mode world premiere will take place the night before on August 11 at 10am PT.

Sony's Gamescom press conference will be taking place at 11am PT on August 11. Hopefully BioWare's odd teaser trailers will also be explained at Gamescom.

IGN will be attending Gamescom, so stay tuned for the latest gaming news out of Germany. For a round-up of last year's Gamescom, check out ourGamescom wiki guide.

and Sony will drop some bombs too!

If you’re hoping Sony will take Gamescom seriously this year, you have nothing to worry about.

Sony did well at E3, and appears to be going just as big for Gamescom, Europe’s E3 equivalent. Gaming insider Tidux posted the following on Twitter:

#Gamescom ranks almost as high as #E3 internally at #Sony, #Gamescom will be the most important Games Convention soon. #PS4

Sony debuted LittleBigPlanet 3, a re-release of Grim Fandango, From Software’s Bloodborne, and even new footage of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End at E3 this year. That’s not even including the third-party games which took up most of its press conference. If Gamescom is even half as good, it’ll be a great success.

Related: Bloodborne Playable at Gamescom 2014

Sony’s game line-up for Gamescom shows that it’s putting money where its mouth is. Big games including DriveclubThe Order: 1886, and even Bloodborne will be on the show floor. If you’re a spectator, you’ll have plenty of new gameplay to check out. If you’re attending, you’ll have more to play than time permits.

As you might suspect, big announcements will be made during Sony’s Gamescom press conference. Sony has a few European first-party studios, including Media Molecule, that have unknown projects in the works. You can bet that the PS4 roster is about to get a few great additions.

#294813 Trouble at Nintendo, staff not happy with Iwata and want to replace him

Posted by Zinix on 02 August 2014 - 04:02 PM in Wii U Games and Software

report published on Japanese website Business Journal details alleged turmoil within management at Nintendo.

The article claims that there’s a shared recognition of Iwata being the culprit among management. While there is a strong desire to bring games/franchises like Mario to smartphones, Iwata is strongly vetoing the idea. Iwata reiterates that “Nintendo’s strength is in unified development of game hardware and software”, stubbornly rejects the “net” (seems to reference how smartphones don’t use physical media since they download games), and fixates over “game consoles” – perhaps in light of his pride as a former developer.

Hiroshi Yamauchi, the previous president of Nintendo, passed away last fall. Apparently, no one remains who can defy Iwata. There are also rumors of management scheming to get rid of the president.

Another insider quote shared by Business Journal claims that there’s cultural friction based on how Iwata comes from outside the company (maybe given his origins at HAL Laboratory?). He continues to be involved with software development even after becoming president and there is a feeling of helplessness among “native” Nintendo executives.

Another point worth mentioning: supposedly, managers who oppose Iwata would want Yamauchi’s first son to become Nintendo’s president.

And here begins the  end of Iwata and the reign of Reggie will begin by January.

Our bodies will be ready.

#294812 NYPD Chokehold Death Ruled a Homicide

Posted by Zinix on 02 August 2014 - 04:00 PM in The Café

The death of a Staten Island man who was put into an apparent choke hold by the New York Police Department was ruled a homicide today by the city's medical examiner.

The incident provoked outrage last month after a witness filmed New York Police Department cops placing Eric Garner in what appeared to be a chokehold while arresting Garner for selling cigarettes illegally. Garner, who was 6-foot-3 and 350 pounds, could be heard saying that he could not breathe.

After his death, officers told supervisors that they did not think excess force was used and initially blamed Garner's death on a heart attack before the film went viral.

The New York City Medical Examiner ruled that the cause of death was "compression of neck (choke hold), compression of chest, and prone positioning during physical restraint by police."

They said that acute and chronic bronchial asthma, obesity and hypersensitive cardiovascular disease were "contributing conditions" but still ruled the manner of death a "homicide."

The officer who was seen in the video placing Garner in the choke hold, Daniel Pantaleo, an eight-year veteran, was placed on modified assignment pending the outcome of investigations into the incident by the district attorney and NYPD Internal Affairs unit. The FBI also said it was monitoring the case.

Pantaleo's gun and badge were taken away pending the outcome of the investigations.

The District Attorney's office said it had seen the medical examiner's results and the investigation was ongoing. No charges have yet been filed in the death.

“We have been in contact with the Medical Examiner’s Office, who has indicated to us the cause and manner of death of Eric Garner on July 17, 2014. We await the issuance of the official death certificate and the autopsy report. The investigation into Mr. Garner’s death continues,” the DA's office said in a statement.

The city's police union, the Patrolmen's Benevolent Association, released a strongly-worded statement saying that if Garner hadn't resisted arrest his death would not have occurred. They also called for a full "analysis" of Garner's death, citing his health problems.

"Police Officers don’t start their days expecting or wanting something like this to occur in the performance of their duties," PBA president Patrick J. Lynch said. “The ME’s report indicates that Mr. Garner was a man with serious health problems so there will have to be a complete and thorough analysis of all the factors that played a part in this tragedy."

"We believe, however, that if he had not resisted the lawful order of the police officers placing him under arrest, this tragedy would not have occurred," the statement said.

#294750 Gaza's Christians and Muslims ironically grow closer in defiance of Israel.

#294551 Gaza's Christians and Muslims ironically grow closer in defiance of Israel.

Posted by Zinix on 30 July 2014 - 05:51 PM in The Café

Solidarity between the Christian minority and Muslim majority is growing in Gaza as both suffer under the Israeli offensive, with churches sheltering all religions and prayers being offered up on all sides Without prior warning, an Israeli missile hit the house of the Ayyad family last Saturday. The Ayyads, who are Christian, were the first family among the tiny minority in Gaza to be targeted since the offensive began three weeks ago.

The Ayyad’s home was severely damaged. Furniture was ruined and family belongings such as children’s toys were strewn everywhere as a result of the missile’s impact. But naturally the human cost was much greater.

Jalila Ayyad was known among the people of Gaza as a woman that had nothing to do with any militia groups. “We are a Christian minority and have no links to Hamas or Fatah - we keep to ourselves and avoid problems,” says Fouad Ayyad, Jalila’s nephew.

Fouad is also the name of the bereaved husband of Jalila Ayyad. Standing in a white T-shirt stained with the blood of his wife and son - who was also seriously injured in the attack. Without prior warning, an Israeli missile hit the house of the Ayyad family last Saturday.

Father Manuel Musallam, a former priest of the Latin Church, has always been an advocate for Palestinian unity. “When they destroy your mosques, call your prayers from our churches”.

Mosques stand next to churches along the thin coastal enclave. George Ayyad, a relative of Jalila, rejects the idea that Christians will leave Gaza after this incident. “This is exactly what the Israelis want, but where should we go?” he questions, before he continues “This is my homeland and we are Christians here in Gaza for more than 1,000 years and we will remain.”

A memorial service was held on Sunday for Ayyad at Porphyrius Greek Orthodox Church on Sunday. The church has become a haven not just for Christian but also hundreds of Muslim families seeking shelter there as the offensive drags on.

“The church has been our hosts for the past two weeks, offering food, clothes and whatever we needed, their loss is our loss, their pain is our pain,” says 45-year-old Abu Khaled.

At the memorial service for Jalila, Archbishop Alexios said: “Another human being, an innocent one, has lost her life." In the pews, crowds of Palestinian Christians sobbed as first from their tiny minority to be killed in the conflict was laid to rest.

In something that surprised local journalists, Jalila’s body was carried by both Muslims and Christians to the grave. It seems the shared wounds, mourning and rage are bridging past divides in war-ravaged Gaza.

Last week, Gaza’s Greek Orthodox Church also sustained damage by Israeli artillery shelling. Fifteen graves were damaged and damage was also caused to the Church’s sole hearse, says Kamel Ayyad, a parish member.

“The world must realise that Israel’s missiles don’t differentiate between Christians and Muslims,” said Abu.
During the memorial, bible scriptures were recited before Ayyad’s body was carried out and placed in a simple white coffin that had been decorated with a black cross. Homeless Christians and Muslims brought out her remains together in the same community where Jalila will be buried, in the town she was born: in Gaza.

A Virgin Mary icon was placed in Jalila’s coffin while her relatives sang “Hallelujah.”

#294491 4.6 million people played Destiny's beta

Posted by Zinix on 30 July 2014 - 05:31 AM in General Gaming

SANTA MONICA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATVI), and Bungie today confirmed millions of people have played their upcoming and award-winning game Destiny during their beta test to gather vital information in preparation for launch. The Destiny Beta included a sampling of major activities featured in the full game. The beta began first on PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®3 on July 17 and came to a close Sunday evening, with 4,638,937 unique players participating.

"This is the biggest beta of this console generation by a wide margin and the largest console beta ever for a new video game IP to date," said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing. "Hosting a beta at this scale is an incredible feat, so we're thrilled to see the phenomenal response. But the beta is just a taste of what's to come. We're counting down the days to our launch day, September 9th."

"We were totally blown away by the number of people who played the beta," said Pete Parsons, COO of Bungie. "We surpassed even our own goals and the feedback was invaluable. We cannot thank the community enough, the response was humbling and in the weeks ahead we'll be working hard to ensure that Destiny lives up to the expectations at launch."

#294490 EA announces Subscription Service for Xbox One ($5/month or $30/yea...

Posted by Zinix on 30 July 2014 - 05:30 AM in General Gaming

Additionally, EA Access will also net subscribers 10 percent discounts on all EA digital content, which includes full games and DLC, as well as access to trials of new EA games nearly a week before they come out (with saves that copy over to the final game, should you choose to purchase it later). Games that will be eligible for early access and save copy-over are Madden NFL 15, NHL 15, FIFA 15, NBA Live 15, and Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Memberships can be purchased on Xbox Live, and will also be available at retail stores like GameStop and online destinations like Amazon. The subscription service will launch "soon," according to EA, and will be available in North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Australian and NZ Xbox One owners will pay AUD$6.99/NZD$6.99 a month or AUD$39.99/NZD$39.99 a year.

We'll have more on EA Access as soon as it launches.

and SONY rejected their offer.

We evaluated the EA Access subscription offering and decided that it does not bring the kind of value PlayStation customers have come to expect,” a Sony representative told us via email. “PlayStation Plus memberships are up more than 200% since the launch of PlayStation 4, which shows that gamers are looking for memberships that offer a multitude of services, across various devices, for one low price. We don’t think asking our fans to pay an additional $5 a month for this EA-specific program represents good value to the PlayStation gamer.”

Our Take
While EA Access might not be coming to PS4, I wouldn’t necessarily count out the publisher’s games in PS Plus. There is still value for EA there, especially as those free-with-membership games have great potential to move the needle for DLC that has long since dropped down the sales chart.

This also doesn't mean that Sony can't change its mind later. If demand is great enough and value increases, EA Access could migrate over down the road. For now though, this is a clear statement that PS4 players shouldn't hold their breath for the program.

I still think it's a great deal. Five dollars a month isn't nothing.

#294489 Engadget: 'Mario Kart 8' couldn't save Nintendo from a $97 m...

Posted by Zinix on 30 July 2014 - 05:28 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Mario Kart on the Wii U is really good. Unfortunately it's just one game -- and it looks like it won't be enough to rescue the Wii U's sales. Nintendo apparently agrees, stating that its 9.9 billion yen loss was due to a lack of hit titles outside of the flagship racer. Matter-of-factly, Nintendo said:

"The operating loss was 9.4 billion yen because total selling, general and administrative expenses including fixed expenses exceeded gross profit. "
Which is, well, exactly how you work out an operating loss. The company is now betting on the power of Super Smash Bros. as well as the best-selling Pokemon series to improve results later this year. Wii U console sales have improved in the Americas and Europe: 510,000 units were sold worldwide in the last three months, compared to 160,000 in the same period last year. In Japan, however, Wii U sales have decreased year-on-year. Revenue was 8.8 percent higher than the same period last year and Nintendo is hoping its plans for a series of console-connected toy figurines along the lines of the hit Skylanders series will help to improve that bottom line.

Mario Kart 8 managed to sell 2.82 million copies so far, meaning that relative to Wii U console sales, most players already had the games console to play it on -- and that it wasn't quite enough to convince other consumers to buy what could possibly be a second console.

http://www.engadget....-earnings-2014/

It's true and now that we know this, nothing can save the Wii U now, not even Smash. It's destined to produce Gamecube numbers, and that's a fact.

st episode will be a spoiler.

Fans have been weighing in with their thoughts about the new Walking Dead season 5 trailer that debuted at Comic-Con in San Diego, but what about the cast and producers themselves? What do they have to say about it? After the awesome experience of watching them watch it on a monitor while backstage at their panel, I asked TeamWalking Dead their thoughts later when they stopped by the Entertainment WeeklyRadio (SiriusXM, channel 105) studio at the convention, and now you can hear the entire conversation by clicking on the audio player icon below

Joining us were none other than cast members Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, and Michael Cudlitz, along with executive producer Scott M. Gimple and co-executive producer Denise Huth. So what do they make of the clip, in which, according to Cudlitz, “it certainly looks like we’re heading to DC” to find a cure for the zombie outbreak? It seems the cast has been getting a kick listening to fans hypothesize as to what it all means. “The theories are fantastic,” says Gurira.

So exactly how much did Gimple stress about putting the trailer together, especially when “every single thing in the first episode is a spoiler,” according to Huth? Listen in to find out. And you’ll also get to hear Reedus, Yeun, Cohan, Cudlitz, and Gurira share their fondest Comic-Con memories as well as the debut of “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Michonne.” Plus, who freaks out on set over the proper way to eat an Oreo? The answer can be found by clicking on the audio player below. And for more Walking Dead scoop,

#294281 Fake Spider-Man punches cop in the face. Hospitalizing him.

Posted by Zinix on 27 July 2014 - 11:18 AM in The Café

Junior Bishop, 25, of Brooklyn, was charged with assaulting an officer, resisting arrest and criminal mischief.

The New York Police Department said the officer assaulted Saturday — an 18-month veteran and one of about 50 officers patrolling the bustling tourist area — stepped in after Bishop demanded at least $5 from a woman he posed for a picture with, instead of the $1 tip she offered.

Police said a costumed Bishop "put out his hand and told the woman 5s, 10s or 20s only." Police said the officer told him he could only accept tips — not require payment. Bishop yelled and cursed at the officer, police said, and told him: "Mind your own (expletive) business."

Police said the officer asked for identification and, when Bishop failed to produce any, moved to arrest him. Bishop broke free and punched the officer in the face, police said, causing a cut and eye swelling.

The officer, whose name was not released, was treated and released at New York University's Langone Medical Center. Other officers arrived and hauled Spider-Man away.

Bishop's mother answered the phone at their Brooklyn home late Saturday and said he was not home. She said she was not aware of his work in Times Square or his arrest. Information on Bishop's lawyer was not available.

The arrest of Spider-Man, as police referred to Bishop throughout a matter-of-fact news release, came weeks after the New York City Council said it was considering legislation to regulate the costumed characters in Times Square.

It was the latest in a series of incidents involving men behind the masks.

In the last two years, a man dressed as Cookie Monster was charged with shoving a 2-year-old, a person attired in Super Mario's overalls was accused of groping a woman and an Elmo figure pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct after unleashing an anti-Semitic tirade.

Last month a different Spider-Man was convicted of harassment for a February 2013 episode in which he cursed and complained that a woman did not tip him after posing for a photograph with her children. Phillip Williams later punched the woman in the face and knocked her to the ground — out of self-defense, he said — after she hurled snow at him.

The bill under City Council consideration would require licenses and background checks for costumed performers but copyright issues have held up final approval, since most of the costume wearers are not authorized by the characters' owners.

Police Commissioner William Bratton last week endorsed the measure to combat what he called Times Square's "Elmo issues."
