#317135 Xenoblade Chronicles X - Costume changes for Western Release + Discussion

Posted by Raiden on 31 October 2015 - 05:04 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I'm not sure that those laws would necessarily apply since she's not naked or in a sex scene even, it would definitely be more acceptable for this in Japan than the West but is it still the consent laws that apply to fiction such as this? I'm not so sure about that.

I do think the much easier solution would be to change the age of the character to something like 18 for Western audiences.

US culture is not very open abut sex but very closed off and uppity so a bikini would still cause uproar. This is the same country that tried to sue Nintendo over a 3rd party shovelware game with a baby gibberish sounding like Islam to one stupid mom. Our laws are not as restrictive as Aussie ones on games but the parents make Aussie game laws look loose. It's easier and frankly better they did this to avoid a controversy like that.

Unless your name is Jared Fogle it's revolting to see children in outfits like that. Western looks better.

Yes she is 13 even in the western version confirmed today despite earlier reports.

Let's also consider US state laws vastly vary for legal ages. Some 18 some 17 some 16. Nothing is 13.  To avoid any controversy they had to edit it esp for concerned US parents. Called localization for a reason,to make a certain game fit that market as much as they can without ruining the vision of the game. I don't want to see a sexualized child of any age fiction or not. I mean If I made game with a toddler in a bikini being sexualized be just as revolting. If Elma gets censored then yeah Treehouse and 8-4 need a swift kick in the teeth as for spoiler reasons I can't say there would be zero reason for it.

13 is the technical age of consent in Japan tho also technically it's 18.

#317249 XCX Eurogamer most impressive open world

Like Xenoblade Chronicles before it, there's a real spirit of generosity in X; all that space means nothing without meaningful ways to fill it, and the systems that power this RPG are as rich and varied as the flora and fauna of Mira. Two dozen hours in and I still feel totally lost among them, so broad and deep do they run

I feel like I'm caught somewhere in the beautiful crossroads between Final Fantasy 12 and Phantasy Star Online, and I really couldn't be any happier.

Windows 10 - Free to Play. Then nickle and dime along the way.

No thanks.

With every year, MS gets more irrelevent.

Wake me when they come u with an honest business model.

Nadella is Ballmer 2.0 just minus the theatrics.

WTF are you talking about. You just get a free OS. That's it. There are no micro transactions. They are doing this to prevent situations of people still using Windows XP when Windows 7 and 8 released. They just changed it up for the better so people are not stuck using old versions of Windows. They want to break away from the trend where more people get a new OS when they buy a new PC. Not that they can't go buy the OS people just generally only update windows by getting a new PC.

#313685 Wii U/3DS Rodea story details

Posted by Raiden on 02 June 2015 - 03:49 PM in General Gaming

NIS America have released a bunch of information on Rodea the Sky Soldier, highlighting the game’s story and basic actions. Read on to learn more.

Story summary:

Once upon a time there existed two countries—Naga, the terrestrial machine empire, and Garuda, a floating kingdom in the sky…

Thanks to their advanced technology, the Naga Empire thrives. Seeking the power contained in crystalized Graviton energy, Naga gazes skyward at the neighboring kingdom of Garuda and launches a full-scale invasion.

Princess Cecilia, the daughter of Emperor Geardo, ruler of Naga, attempts to flee to Garuda alongside her robot bodyguard, Rodea. Trapped by her pursuers, she entrusts Rodea with half of the Key of Time—an artifact that is integral to the success of Naga’s invasion. Using the remaining half of the Key’s power, she teleports Rodea to Garuda, depriving Naga of the intact Key of Time, thereby preventing the earthbound aggressor from successfully carrying out its invasion.

Since then 1,000 years have passed, and Garuda’s citizens regard Naga’s failed invasion, as well as the Naga Empire itself, as little more than a historical footnote in the pages of history. At a small village in Garuda, a young woman named Ion lives a peaceful life with her grandfather, where she spends her days tinkering with machines and inventing all sorts of odd gadgets. One day, Ion is surveying an ancient ruin when she discovers a deactivated, broken robot—Rodea. Though Ion repairs the damage to Rodea’s body, the damage to Rodea’s memories is too extensive. He remembers next to nothing about his past, save for his mission to save Garuda, and the face of a young woman who bears a striking resemblance to Ion.

She finds Rodea, broken and deactivated, in an ancient ruin and restores him to working condition. With Rodea, she embarks on an adventure to stop the Naga Empire’s invasion.

Princess Cecilia:

The pure-hearted princess of the Naga Empire. She fled Naga with Rodea in an attempt to stop her father, Emperor Geardo, from invading Garuda. When that plan fails, she teleports Rodea to safety and is never seen again.

Emperor Geardo:

image: http://www.siliconera.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/geardo_thumb.png

Geardo was once a kind father who showered his beloved daughter, Cecilia, with love and affection. It was for her sake and the sake of his empire that he spearheaded Naga’s development into a mechanized civilization. To this end, he has replaced the majority of his physical body with the most powerful technology his empire can produce, further cementing his status as an immeasurably legendary ruler.

Soaring Across Garuda:

Rodea is equipped with a gravity manipulation device that allows him to fly. This device is fueled by Graviton energy, which is restored simply by landing on the ground. It can also be restored by collecting Graviton crystals, or by destroying certain objects.

Gravitons are not only used to restore flight energy, but they also serve as directional guides for reaching the goal in the shortest amount of time. Follow the trail of Gravitons if you’re not sure which direction to go in a stage. Collect a row of Gravitons. Locate and collect the next row of Gravitons without landing, and you’ll receive a CHAIN bonus.

Flight Basics:

The flight energy gauge inside the reticle will slowly diminish as Rodea stays airborne. If the gauge reaches 0 and there’s no landing spot beneath Rodea, he will lose one spare part (life) and restart from the most recent save point.

Flight energy can be restored by the following methods:

  • Collecting Gravitons
  • Landing
  • Kicking / Charging a wall

Basic Attack Actions:

Aim at a target and press the A Button to enter flight mode. Move the control stick to arc your flight trajectory. Press the B Button to use a Boost Attack… If once doesn’t work, attack the enemy multiple times.
