Who gives?

#102623 No online multiplayer for anything

Posted by Oblivion165 on 27 August 2012 - 06:32 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Ok lots to reply to.

Section: Black Ops 2 WiiU

a. The reason BoPs 2 would not come out this year is because they have no internal development team. Thats why Activision always out-sourced all the Wii versions of Call of Duty games. This may have changed now but it certainly hasn't given them time enough to do what needs done. (as a programmer myself, my heart goes out to the team that has to convert the engine to the WiiU platform)

b. Investors love money. Why do you think E3, Gamescom, etc exist? These shows are for investors. They see whats coming, judge the popularity among the population and invest if they so desire. Anytime a company can show something for investors, they do and Call of Duty being on a whole new platform (Translation: More $$$) means more business.

c.  The WiiU is trying to gain popularity and announcing THE biggest money making game of all time for a new system would help Nintendo tremendously. Call of Duty has broken the world record in entertainment in sales and it certainly didn't hurt the hardware it was played on.

To clarify "No online for anything":

a. I do not mean in any way that there will be no online games for Nintendo systems. I simply mean that most of the launch title/window games are couch coop and it appears that still remains to be the case.

b. "MSO - Massively Single Player Online" Nintendo could do nothing more to alienate it's hard core gamers. I can see how this could be tacked on to a game engine that was never designed to handle network traffic or uses antiquated scripts systems for its action sequences. This however is no longer fit for the modern era of gaming. Those kind of efforts fit into the dialup internet section of gaming when bandwidth was too limited to sync up games. I struggle to keep my engine online capable every single day, its hard and takes 10x more effort than couch coop but I put in the time to do it right.

c. I have nothing against Single Player games. I can see where the confusion is, I keep calling it "couch coop" even though I just mean couch multiplayer. We are simply talking about online multiplayer and that requires no interference with SP at all. Adding COOP to a game can just destroy it. (IE: Fear 3)

Their existing multiplayer mode would work fantastically online. (one exception would be to increase the player count to at least 4)

d. I have no doubt that later games will have full online features.

I'm trying to figure out how you've suddenly come to the conclusion that the Wii U Version of every game that's multiplat with online... doesn't have online.

Take the Wii for instance. No matter how butchered the Wii version of World at War was.... it still had friggin' online.

I have yet to mention a game that is on another platform that does have online and said it wont have online on the WiiU. The closest I've come to saying that is Assassin's Creed III hasn't been confirmed. Established franchises would never leave such a critical feature out of a game like Call of Duty.

Hell I've barely said that anything WONT have online other than ZombiU. Usually I said its unconfirmed and looking like it wont.

#101904 No online multiplayer for anything

Posted by Oblivion165 on 24 August 2012 - 08:25 PM in Wii U Games and Software

BoPs 2 hasn't even been announced for WiiU (all rumors) and everyone will most likely buy it for established systems to play with a larger player base.

Ghost Recon was terrible but could have online. The more you look into these games the less and less they talk about online multiplayer. If a game is going to be online; its one of the biggest selling points yet no one has said anything. Its a pretty good bet that it wont be included if they are not putting it right out front first thing.

#102560 No online multiplayer for anything

http://www.examiner....-nov-20-release

just because micro has a contract with them doesnt mean the other versions wont come out at or around the same day. thats proof.

No one said that different versions of the game couldn't come out around the same time as the Xbox version. I said specifically said that they can not come out before the Xbox version. Their contract states that the Xbox gets just as much content as every other version of the game, all DLC first and the launch date must be the earliest or at least the same as the other versions.

Therefor the WiiU version can not come out in October as that is what was being discussed.

EDIT for this section: And there is no way the WiiU version of BoPs 2 is coming out this year.

btw zombi u will have online components, you play in the same world as your friends when they are playing and when they are invected you can find thier body and scavenge its been show. at gamescom.

I would like to see your source on that. I saw the footage from gamescom and unless I got distracted, I didn't see anything of the sort. I'll go download their presentation and report back once I've watched it.

EDIT for this section: Ok so I went and found the video of the developer:
http://www.g4tv.com/...iew/?quality=hd

(Online conversation starts at 2:40)

And yup, just as I said. No online multiplayer. The only online features are leaderboard, leaving notes and when your friends die their player will show up in your game as a zombie.

(Starting at 3:38)

They talk about "Multiplayer Mode" (notice that they didn't say anything like "one of our multiplayer modes is") and clearly outlines the couch coop MP.

ps- it hasnt been confirmed to be couch coop only. this is an example of what online multiplayer could look like, and this seems possible. plus why the hell would they show off online multiplayer at events when it cant even be played ? lol
http://m.youtube.com...h?v=cDkR-QKeaYA

The event has internet and could of easily been shown off. All it takes is two WiiU's and Wifi.

#101900 No online multiplayer for anything

Posted by Oblivion165 on 24 August 2012 - 08:12 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Sure does seem like the developers rely on you having gamers in the house. I for one have no one to play with and all the best games are local MP only.

ZombiU is supposed to represent the new hardcore direction yet its couch coop. Tank! Tank! Tank! is the only other game that I find even remotely interesting and its couch coop as well.

Just going down the list and looking into every game I could, I found zero that have online multiplayer.

#101918 No online multiplayer for anything

Posted by Oblivion165 on 24 August 2012 - 09:21 PM in Wii U Games and Software

so you assume that because they don't mention it that it won't happen? why would Nintendo work on a whole new online system if no games have online play?

Launch titles rarely have online functionality and this appears to be no exception. Online multiplayer is one of the main things to look for in any game and if anyone had it, it would of been confirmed already.

Zombie U better be online...this is not 2001. Every new game should have some sort of online option. Come on Nintendo. Get it right!

It for sure 100% does not have online multiplayer. Confirmed by developers that its couch coop only. The rage that brought on is what started the journey.

#101915 No online multiplayer for anything

Posted by Oblivion165 on 24 August 2012 - 08:57 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Mass Effect 3 has online multiplayer.
Assassin's Creed 3 has online multiplayer.
Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed has online multiplayer.

ZombiU and New Super Mario Bros. U use online, (not for multiplayer).

What was that about no games have online?

Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed - Couldn't find 1 reference to online multiplayer. Official site or interviews.
Mass Effect 3 - Might, not confirmed in any way
Assassains Creed 3 - Might, not confirmed in any way but is for others: http://wiiublog.com/...x-360-at-least/

The biggest problem we see here is that none of the devs will actually say it will.

#102154 No online multiplayer for anything

Posted by Oblivion165 on 25 August 2012 - 06:46 PM in Wii U Games and Software

blops 2 will come to wii u with the best features.
zombi u has online multiplayer coop and the such.

If BoPs2 comes to WiiU it will miss the launch date. Might even be a year before you see it; by then everyone and their cousin will have already purchased it.

ZombiU does NOT have online coop. Its couch coop only featuring a zombie master like gameplay.

#102181 No online multiplayer for anything

Posted by Oblivion165 on 25 August 2012 - 08:09 PM in Wii U Games and Software

zombi u online is mentioned here. lol at couch coop.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZombiU

and what do you mean blops two might come out after wii u launch. its not confirmed for wii u in november , plus that would be a stupid move on nintendos part it was different when wii launched. late october is a more feasible release date. plus blops 2 has the best features and graphics. thats just the way it is.

I will take the word of the developer over Wikipedia...since they are the ones that made the game. I'm trying to find the interview where they said it would be couch coop online but in the mean time just read the official site: http://zombiu.ubi.co...ome/index.aspx/

No mention of online anywhere and only the known couch coop mode.

As for BoPs 2 there is no way in hell they would release it in October for the WiiU. Not only would that break their contract with Xbox/Microsoft, it would be for a system that isn't even on the shelf. Your post is kind of ambiguous about the points your trying to make but if BoPs 2 even comes to the WiiU it won't be for a long time.

EDIT: I would like to point out that I would love nothing more than to be wrong about ZombiU. It's the highlight of the system in my eyes (so far) and would bring me much joy to play online.

I offer to you to use google and prove me wrong. Every article and video on the net is all about the couch.

#102437 Wii U games you'd like to see, but will never happen?

Posted by Oblivion165 on 26 August 2012 - 10:52 PM in Wii U Games and Software

A new Turok game in the style of the first two.

#104614 Wii U games you'd like to see, but will never happen?

Posted by Oblivion165 on 05 September 2012 - 01:34 PM in Wii U Games and Software

They were outstanding and revolutionary games for their time.

Who knows how they were able to so spectacularly ruin it on 360.

Everything from character, storyline, mechanics, lighting issues, the list goes on.

If they could recapture the essence of the n64 games and bring them to the new generation, we'd have something.

Yeah I remember the exact moment I knew it would suck. I was watching an interview with the developers and they were answering fan submitted questions; you could tell right away that they were screwed.

Fan question:
"Will the game have the Cerebral Bore?"

Dev:
"uh..no"

Fan question:
"Will the game have the Razor Wind?"

Dev:
"uh..no"

On and on like that for the whole Q/A. Everything the fans wanted wasn't in the game. They took a comic book based game and turned it into a bland shooter. I hate to say "realistic shooter" because it really wasn't but it lacked all the tech/enemies that were so awesome from the previous games/comics.

If your old enough to have a job then you shouldn't have to come to an internet forum to get advice on your financial situation. Especially over a video game system.

#128090 Sensor Bar Optional For Setting Up Wii U

Posted by Oblivion165 on 12 November 2012 - 07:44 AM in Wii U Hardware

I stopped playing the Wii before Motion Plus came out. Did the FPS games start using the 1:1 Motion Plus input instead of the Sensor Bar?

#128119 Sensor Bar Optional For Setting Up Wii U

Posted by Oblivion165 on 12 November 2012 - 09:55 AM in Wii U Hardware

doesn't a few mini games from nintendo require the wii remotes? Anyhow, I will need the sensor bar thats included with the Wii U because unfortunately I haven't got around to the first Wii so Im eager to play all the games I missed. Here i come Zelda, Metriod, Xenoblade, Last story, etc. :P

I don't understand. The Wii remote plus doesn't take advantage of the sensor bar?

I'm asking if Wii Motion Plus games decided to just ignore the sensor bar and use motion plus for all the input data. If motion plus truly is 1:1 then this should of been a viable option. I'm just not sure since I didn't use the Wii past year 2 and motion plus came out later.

I went ahead and purchased 3 motion plus controllers for the Wii U though.

#105696 Last Chance Predictions About the Wii U Before September 13th

Posted by Oblivion165 on 10 September 2012 - 08:44 AM in Wii U Hardware

Last Sunday in November or December (21st-ish) release.

$299.99 - White Console
$349.99 - Elite Black Console w Mario Brothers U

Nintendo Land bundled with all WiiU's everywhere. (or free to download from Nintendo network; too crappy to not be free either way)

$119.99 Game pad
$49.99 Pro controller
$29.99 Zapper

1.25x as powerful as PS3

Problems with Dead Pixels; Nintendo provides an exchange program if there are 3 or more dead pixels on your Game Pad.
Nothing worth playing online for 6 more months. (real online multiplayer, not leaving notes and crap.)
Black Ops 2 not being announced at all or is at least a year away.

#122075 GTA V promotional material spotted,no mention of Wii U, let the depression begin

Posted by Oblivion165 on 27 October 2012 - 11:13 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Saints Row was fun for about two mins, over the top stupidity on a very high level.

Well to each their own. I found it hilarious, refreshing and the full single player coop would be hard to top. I loved the improvements like leveling up your characters skills and helicopters that I could actually fly. (Always had problems with that in GTA, blades hit everything and a mother dog to land on the spot I wanted to)

Virtually every single car in the game can be upgraded and customized...loved it. But yeah, diversity makes the world go round.

Doesn't mention PC either which is odd since every GTA is always on PC.

You guys really have No reason to have your hopes up so high on the first place...your really just setting yourselves up for disappointment.

Yup and after playing Saints row its kinda hard to even get excited for a GTA anymore. I just don't see them matching Saints Row: The Third. Also SR has full singleplayer coop and GTA is talking a multiplayer mode again. (Wasn't impressed with GTA IV's Multiplayer at all)

#127390 Digital or Physical

Posted by Oblivion165 on 10 November 2012 - 06:07 PM in Wii U Games and Software

All of my launch titles were physical but I plan to switch over to digital in all cases where I can.

Benefits
  • You can never lose the game due to a damaged/lost disc. My dog chewed up two when she was a puppy; cases and all so yay! Another $120 that I had to spend to get them back.
  • You don't have to change a disc. With the WiiU I can now play while cooking or at my desk.
  • They don't take up space around the house. I don't know about you guys but I have tons of games from NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, Xbox, Xbox 360, PS 1, PS 2, PS 3, Vita, 3DS, Virtual Boy, Sega, 32x, Sega CD and frankly I'm running out of room to put all that crap.
