Wii U will be fairly unspectacular Spec-wise, it's obvious. I'm not "Bashing", I'm pointing out what's likely to be true.

Ladies and gentlemans, the man who clearly said "cos Wii U sucks" is now saying he's not bashing!

*Ahem*

We all agree that PS4 and Nextbox are going to be superior to Wii U, they are going to launch later, but that doesn't mean the Wii U won't stay competitive. Wii U is more likely going to be the PS2 of this generation, unless Sony and Microsoft are crazy enough to release $1000 consoles and practically destroy all their chances of earning a profit this generation.

@wall vader Yes, I agree the next xbox and PART will be more powerful if they are released later. Some rumors point to, however, they will be released in late 2012 or sometime in 2013 and that's not later enough to make a big difference in power. So,in my opinion, it all depends on when the next consoles are released.

As some others on the forum have said aswell, the Wii was inferior in more ways than just "graphics" as people like to say. The same engines that ran on the 360 and PS3 were incapable of running on the Wii, as not only was it underpowered, it was pretty much just using upgraded 2001 Gamecube tech anyway. We can assume the Wii U won't have such handicaps, as it's being built from the ground up as a completely new system. Personally I don't care if the graphics for multiplats are bad on the Wii U in 3 or 4 years time. I play on my PC for impressive graphics, not consoles. The fancy new controller and the usual Nintendo exclusives are enough to make me want a Wii U.

why do people think that the 720 and ps4 will be stronger just because it comes out later

Encase no one remembers

360-2005
wii and ps3 -2006

microsfot proved you could have amazing hardware a year before the ps3 even dropped.

The PS3 is, technically, more powerful than the 360. The only reason the 360 is more powerful than the Wii is because Nintendo purposely under-powered it. The reason why multi-plats often run better on the 360 is, since the 360 came out earlier, it is used as the base system for multi-plat home console development, and it's difficult to just do a straight port of a 360 game to the PS3 due to differences in hardware architecture. Games developed for the PS3, such as Uncharted, show that the PS3 does have a slight edge over the 360.

It baffles me whh they decided to underpower the Wii.

Because the motion tech was expensive at the time, very expensive. So, under-powering it resulted in not having a silly price.

It baffles me whh they decided to underpower the Wii.

The main reason was because, due to past experience with the N64 and GameCube, they had came to the conclusion that it was impossible to beat their competition with an all-powerful console. Therefore, they went the route of profitable affordability instead of wasting a ridiculous amount of money on an HD powerhouse.

@ECHO3 If we are talking about a year, the next Xbox and PS4 will be slightly more powerful. If ths PS4 and NEXT XBOX comes out there or five years from 2012 then they will be more powerful then the next wave of consoles. What most people fail to notice is the next wave of consoles are coming out in 2013 or 2014 more then likely. Which means the Wii I won't be behind much. It be like Wii I will be like the 360 and the others like the PS3.

Everyone who knows technology and business knows the next Xbox and ps4 will be more powerful than the wii u. Nintendo is a gaming company only and is worth about $20 billion USD.

Microsoft is a software company that is worth over $80 billion USD from selling operating systems (Windows), Microsoft office, and even the programs that video game developers use (C++, C#).

Sony is worth around $30 billion USD from selling TV's, Radio's, Sound Systems, and the highly successful PS1 and PS2.

This means that companies like Microsoft and Sony can release high powered consoles at a loss for the first few years because th ey h ave other branches of business to sustain them. Nintendo has to make a profit on each console sold from launch or close to launch (max one year) or they lose too much money to be sustainable.

However, sony of Japan president said the PS4 will focus more on new control systems and innovative gameplay over huge graphics leaps. So the distance between the consoles power won't be much. Its the recession now, nobody will be stupid enough to launch a console at $500+

Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Well, I believe Nintendo will make it now that they'll have a HD console. The Nintendo exclusives plus the third party games that will be available now thanks to the power of the console will help on the image of it. With Wii, we lost most of the third party games because of the lack of HD graphics.

It is next gen but I'm sure that the PS4 and maybe the Nextbox will be actually a lot more powerful. The ps3 launched with the GTX 7800 which was the most powerful nvidia card you could get while they were building the ps3. The Wii U will use a three year old mid range graphics card. I know it's stronger than the 7800 but if Sony repeats the story and choose maybe a GTX 680 which is coming in spring or a AMD Radeon HD 7970 which is a looooooooot stronger than the 4770 that the wii u uses so It may be the same story again. But hey, this is just speculation.

Actually Sony and Nintendo are worth relatively the same... 20 billion USD ... With Nintendo being worth a billion more for a good year. When the wii was at its height they were worth 40+ billion USD.

Then they'd use all their money in 10 years through development costs. o_o
