OH MY FUUU GOD!

WHO THE HECK IS THAT TROLL AND WHY DOES HE GET THAT MEDIA ATTENTION.

This is AFTER the brian martel made that clear ... this GUY is back again! Neogaf must be melting ...

Luckly CVG was so great that it noted the info CONFLICTS with brian martels recent quote about the correct specs.

I think they noticed the april fool one from gamesindustry and nintendo ninjas were quick to issue some stuff from a developer (nintendo said their self it's using devs to let some news out - feels more authentic until it's confirmed)

And this stuff happend so fast - other sites don't have time to follow. This happend when the biran martels specs quote wasn't even reported on all of the major sites.

OMG ... look neogaf.com's disussion people are going HAYWIRE ... all of those people are talking about the "weak" rumor and ... i think they prolly noticed the brian martel info by now ... but the idiot will get another run on everyone's mind ... oh this is ... FUNNY and annoying at the same time.

If it wasn't "more powerful , on par , less powerful , more powerul , less powerful" ALL the week ago --- NOW it's going ALL over again ... like nothing happen .... sooner or later the ignorant media will realize it.

Sorry for caps ... but this is just ridicolous in a way - though im not angry seriously - but it's kind of a pain in the ass to have these confusions which don't help the success of the console.

Pretty much - on the other hand - got nothing to be upset about.

Just a matter of time now and things will settle ... hopefully

Yeah Neogaf is still and been exploding since the 2nd because as you know Only anon devs are telling the truth since named devs are being payed to say nice things which is why all of them says nice things well anon devs talk precisely to the point that the wiiu sucks and is pretty much a wii with shaders but not as good shaders as 360/ps3 so the Wiiu = 3ds.

Gonna love seeing the fanboys meltdown when they see Wii U is actually decently powerful at E3... and then even more when they see the games.

It's 2006 all over again, and I love it. :D

Calm Down. It's just a games console.

This one, I believe.
The rumours about the CPU have always been pretty grounded.
It's rumoured clock speed will be around the 360's and since IBM merged the Cell(360 and PS3 use this series) and Power(Nintendo usually use these) series together a few years back, the architecture is pretty similar among them.
Also, members who are in the know at neogaf are talking about ARM cpu's in the controllers, and another chip handling sound, etc. etc.
It looks like there's going to be small chips to handle very specialised stuff to take the load off the CPU, meaning if the CPU is a 1:1 copy of the 360, and has all those extra little chips, there'll be more room in the CPU for the game code.
If anything, it should be interesting.

All these separate threads to quote a single line from every single developer are getting annoying though.
Can't you just add them onto one of the 70 other threads about what developers are saying?

Another thing popped up at shacknews ... AGAIN from unnamed dev at gamesindustry.biz

(my nickname is RuskiSnajper there on shacknews)

Im from EU so it's midnight ... thank god i can go to sleep! Hopefully it'll be all settled in morning.

I don't have neogaf account yet (waiting forever) can somebody please go tell them ... i see for 10 pages now they're depressing them selfs because nobody gets their ass up to actually look at news and just sits there and posts nonsense, they're confused quite a lot with ideman's reputation hanging lolz --- so they're in those moments of bored discussion - save em!

Exactly, this rumor conflicts with the other rumor, and how can the Wii U be as powerful as 360/PS3 but weaker?, lol these troll rumors are starting to prove themselves that they are fake, I'm thinking since he got the media attenience from the first rumor he thinks everyone will believe him now or if it another guy he thinks he can get the same media attenience.

Look at this article from Nintengen and they explain why this rumor is fake.

http://www.nintengen.com/2012/04/wii-u-still-significantly-more-powerful.html

So apparently, this is what graphics from a system that has "graphics not as powerful" as the Xbox 360 and PS3 is capable of doing on underclocked barely alpha dev kits. It amazes me that this kind of press can spread from one website who has no named source as their guide and has never had an exclusive on anything of relevance before two days ago. EPIC, Crytek, Gearbox and even bipolar Vigil have said that the Wii U is more powerful than the current HD consoles.

Back at E3 2011 Gearbox had this to say about still evolving Wii U tech:

"Right now we're still finding out what kind of final tech specs the Wii U is going to have," said Martel.
"We've got the [Aliens: Colonial Marines] engine running on the Wii U, and as far as the console goes, you're going to see textures at a resolution that you haven't seen on [the current] generation," said Martel.

Link

Mike Capps & Mark Rein from EPIC Games have made several comments on the Wii U in the past year:

July 2011:

"At the launch event at E3, some of the products that you saw running on Wii U were based on Unreal Engine technology. So that kind of gives you an idea of where we are in that space. You can certainly use our engine on that platform – it's a natural fit from a technology perspective," Capps added. "It opens up some doors that weren't open before on current generation consoles because it is going to be a powerful box."

Link

March 2012:

"Do you remember the Zelda demo they had on it? Would you not buy a Wii U just to play that? Of course you would," Rein said. "That's what Nintendo is all about. Their hardware is the software delivery service for their great content. That Zelda demo was gorgeous and we can do even more than that with Unreal Engine 3. I think it will do great."

Link

It is also pretty common knowledge that in the tech demos shown above, the Wii U was producing some effects (the lighting for example) that were not possible on the current HD platforms. All this produced on dev kits that were hampered from needing to be underclocked to prevent overheating. When you also factor in the rather large power boost the kits got in January, Nintendo will truly have a Wii U system ready for E3 that will really surprise a lot of people with what it can do graphically (like what Mark Rein said earlier).

It's pretty sad how easily people and different websites (IGN & 1UP) can get caught up in anonymous talk from unknown sources. These type of things should not even be reported when official game developers have already made statements concerning the Wii U's power. It's just bad journalism and misinformation.

If you are a "Nintendo is doomed" kind of person, then you would be quick to believe anything negative about Nintendo's new console. However, regardless of who is a fanboy for what company or console, at the end of the day official statements are official statements, no matter how much faith you want to put in anonymous comments that seem to match your personal feelings and put you in a state of denial about the truth.

But remember All named Devs are payed by Nintendo Anon devs are honest and the best devs not to mention all the wiiu demos has low polygons especially the Bird demo it was unimpressive and ugly (The zelda demo really did have low polygons but the lighting was fabulous )

That is the kind of logic I cannot understand from these haters. They are so damn blind that they ignore all the positive news praising the Wii U but emphasise all the negative news that have little to no legitimate sources.
There is a video from Shokio that he uploaded on Youtube a couple days back from now talking about this Wii U BS but I can't post it since it has a swear/curse word in the title. :P

Nintendo having a DSP helps the CPU A LOT! Apparently, the way the Xbox 360 CPU was designed, it calculated the audio and it took up almost 50% of processing power. The Wii U will most likely have 3 cores at 3.2GHz but because it has dedicated audio on a seperate chip that calculates on its own, it will leave more CPU power, which means better physics and AI. Couple that with a superior GPU and RAM and you have yourself a true next gen console (if devs optimize the Wii U's hardware and I/O correctly)

The idea of a dedicated audio chip is always good ... more developer freedom and balancing room, when they're making the game or debgging that can set on a fixed audio specs and when balancing the GPU CPU stuff they don't have to worry about audio quality or anything going wrong in there - it's really significant since you can start making all sound with those sound guys don't have to worry about bitrate changing ... obviously as nintendo is a software company from the development standpoint i think they do adjust the hardware and you see how a company can do hardware more cleaner that actually understand game development ...

Indeedily doodely.
It fits everything we've heard so far.

The CPU is on par or slightly better in some respects than the Xenon in the 360.
Nintendo Use DSP's and ARM chips to do very-specific things, taking the load off the CPU.
Easy to get your code up and running, but engines have had to be optimised quite a bit.

The GPU is new, blows 360 away, but it's not going to walk all over PC games just like every other console that ever existed.

What else have we heard?

The CPU is on par or slightly better in some respects than the Xenon in the 360.

That one is really hard to believe. And there is fundamentals and many reason as to why this is practically impossible.
The ARM processor is probably in the console as a low-power standby mode and inside the controller for I/O, LCD and wireless management.

Ofcourse the engines need to be optimized .... it's a new console. Zero chance that a port would run as good as a dedicated WiiU game.

Every console needs to be optimized ... if it's not optimized, won't run carp.
That's because consoles developer's have full hardware access and can bypass the API and write their own machine code. This is not possible on PC. It's a huge difference - consoles have that advantage of a closed system and you don't have to rely on those drivers, you can make your own drivers.

ID software and John carmack are pushing the industry hard to finally make this happen on the PC ... getting closer every year but still not there yet.
