It seems a 5th cell developer has recently said that the wii U is really really powerful. Which once again makes it seem like the wii u is a proper step into next gen power for consoles

Good to hear, especially since they are such a big developer. I can't wait to see what the future holds for the Wii U!

So vague doesn't mean anything. Its a simple question everyone wants to know. Can the Wii U run next gen engines? No one could ask reggie or any developers that question straight out. They always say thing likes its really powerful or tremendously powerful. Its leaves the door WIDE open for speculation into what the console can achieve on a technical level.

From what I heard about UE4, the Wii U can support it.

[edit]Licensed titles
[edit]Spin-off titles

These are titles directly based on 5TH Cell's original games that were not developed by 5TH Cell themselves.
[edit]

They haven't made anything that would require mass amounts of power, so pretty pointless to hear what they have to say about power.

Nollog has a pretty good point, besides it is pretty vague and they seem to be saying it's powerful in comparison to the DS and Wii.
"So if Zero Suit Samus is fanbait for guys, where is the fanbait for girls? Why isn’t Captain Falcon wearing a thong or sporting a chest twice the size of his last model? Why doesn’t Mario have an absurd crotch buldge holding in his 10 inch slice of manhood? Why doesn’t Yoshi look like a Fist of the North Starcharacter.

That, my friends, is why the design is sexist."~Angelo M. D'Argenio-4/17/2014

Since they're pro developpers and that they work into gaming, don't you think they still know what they're talking about, even though they haven't done incredibly big games?

Well, I guess your right. 5th Cell only made one "powerful" game and that is Hybrid, but still they have worked on an HD system before so I'll take their word for it.

I'm tired of hearing that it is and isn't. Nintendo should be showing it off if it is, and they should've done it already. I don't care what this named developer says or that anonymous developer says.

The thing is, what they might think is "powerful", might not be what Crytek think is powerful.
Crytek make the games which require powerful hardware, so they're the people we should care about saying something is powerful or not.
They make great games, but the games they make are very much based on great gameplay elements, not trying to make the world look as realistic as possible.

5th who? Maybe if it was Valve, ID Software or Crytek who said it, It would fill me with more confidence.

I'd still expect a developer to understand what is powerful and what is not, regardless of the kinds of games they make. Just because the kinds of games they have made do not lean themselves to being powerful, does not mean, in Nollog's example, that 5th Cell's idea of a powerful system is significantly lesser than that of say Crytek.

It may in fact be the exact same.

Crytek's games are notably powerful because they do exactly that, make powerful games. 5th Cell may well choose to produce games using only the amount of power they need for them. In the end, the games they make aren't powerful because that need for power is low. Just because you can push a system to the edge, doesn't mean you have to as a developer.

I guess what I am saying is that, just because a company makes, in this case, low power games, doesn't mean they have no concept of what power in video games is.

Trophy Cards are classy too! LOLZIGZAGOON
