Yes, 2K and Gearbox made Borderlands 1 and are working on 2. Sega is having them also make Aliens: Colonial Marines.

I have always thought that the game would be perfect for the platform even though I have never played a Borderlands game. If we get a port to Wii U, I will be behind the game, otherwise I probably won't get it.

You also have to take into account that they might be waiting to release information later on. Nintendo did say they will be releasing information of games made by the Japanese devs at a later date.

Gearbox has complete ownership of the Borderlands IP. They can do whatever they want with it, and 2K can't do a thing about it. In fact, it was recently proposed that Borderlands 2 could be brought to the PSVita with Sony Computer Entertainment's assistance, therefore making them the publisher for that particular case.

We all know that GearBox has literally been praising the Wii U like an idol so seeing Borderlands 2 on it is quite likely.
