i appreciate all you guys posting and responding. this is the best forums website on the net. love you guys dearly.... just about a month left.... then we all will be enjoying nintendo in HD.

and the best and possibly one of the most powerful consoles of the next generation in all departments :)

I just wanted to post this. Halo 4 leaked, and I was able to play it on my Xbox360. I can tell you that game is looking amazing. If Xbox 360 can pull this graphics, and Wii U is more (3-4x) powerful in graphics department, than I'm not worried about Wii U at all. I really do not see how M$ and Sony can meet the expectations of their fans when graphics wont change that much next gen. Here is the screenshot from halo 4, now multiply that with 3... Wii U starts to look great, isnt it?

Spoiler

Wii U 3-4 times more powerful than the 360? I doubt that.

This statement is false. The previous statement is true.

RIP in peace Nintendo.

3-4 times more...not for sole game use, no.

In general... http://news.yahoo.co...-192514193.html Maybe. It says here that it has 1 GB of RAM for the OS, and 1 GB of RAM for games itself.

But I dunno, I'm not the most knowledgeable guy when it comes to specs, but I personally am just happy for a HD Nintendo machine.

Lets put it like this. Wii U has 3-4x powerful GPU, with modern architecture!

Xbox 360 = 240 GFLOPS
Wii U = around 600 (most likely) + modern architecture

So, I think we could expect at least this lvl of graphics in Full HD from Wii U.

I have Reach, and 4 looks waaaaaaay better graphically. :P

But how do you know Wii U will be 3/4x this?

I think the Wii U should be able to achieve FF15 techdemo quality graphics, then I will be 100% sure it's a beast. But I doubt if even PS4/NextBox could do that.

Ok, we know almost for sure that Wii U GPU will be 600 GFLOPS (maybe little more (620-680) or little less (580-520)). That is 2-3x better than Xbox 360 GPU. Add to that modern arhitecture + 1GB of RAM, 32MB EDRAM (they sad a lot EDRAM), and you get beter GPU by 3-4x. Even if it is only two times more powerful you can imagine 2x Halo 4, its really impressive!

If it can run the Final Fantasy Luminous demo then i don't care about what it can't do.

Yeah lol. It's that impressive, better than UE4 to be honest (even though UE4 has some superior effects)

Almost for sure is not for sure tho. It does have 4x more RAM though I think, of which I hope eventually 1.5 can be used for games instead of only 1.

It's kind of hard to work with multipliers in this subject. How can something look 2 times better than a certain game? It can't, because that's an opinion. But we can use multipliers with facts like RAM, and in that case you were correct.

Ur opinion is worthless when the facts prove you wrong, Shin'en says the Wii U's GPGPU is a generation ahead of xbox360's and the fact that its a GPGPU already dumps on the 360's. The RAM of the Wii U is 4 times that of the 360 exactly, ur "doubt" is meaningless

You are right. But we can use multipliers when we talk about resolution, number of lights, texture resolution, polygon count... If Wii U can dabble some of those things, we can be satisfied. I think it can dabble texture resolution, add some new effects, and produce graphics better than Halo 4 or on same lvl with higher resolution.

The only thing we actually know about the Wii U is that it has 4 times the Ram of Xbox 360, and also an extremely demanding OS.

We don't know crap about the GPU or processor, stop assuming rumors as facts.

Also, who actually cares about which console sells more?

lol i doubt that? the 360 is extremely outdated in terms of tech, and the wii u is extremely modern in tech specs. using parts from early 2010 and up. and it has been said it is at LEAST 3-4 times the power of PS3 . the most powerful console this gen. the 360 is considerably weaker than ps3 the ps3 hasnt really been able to show its power until the last of us. which looks amazing

i agree

Yeah well, that's true.

I demand from developers that, within a year of release, they show graphics similar/on the same level of the Zelda techdemo. That demo was made in a hurry, so developers can surely take their time and make graphics like that, especially Nintendo themselves (not saying I want a new Zelda next year, because that ain't gonna happen)

That is going to happen even earlier! People are forgetting one thing. Wii U is now running mainly Xbox 360 code, same textures, same lvl of effects etc. Why? Almost all multiplatform games start their life on Xbox 360 dev kits. Its easy than to port game to PC, they found a way to easy port it to PS3 (loosing some effects, graphics is usually worse than Xbox 360 version of the game because of architectural differences ), and now they port same thing to Wii U which have different architecture with no loss, or even with some gain when you compare Xbox360 versions of games.

Everybody who play games on PC knows what is not optimized game code, and what it can do to performance. Many games, that are ports of xbox 360 games, don't run well on high end PCs, that can demolish Xbox360 and everything that is going to be "next gen". When time comes for games that are developed on Wii U for Wii U (not old dev kits), and when 3-4 years past, we are going to see some pretty good graphics on Wii U. Something that now is impossible.

And for the end, Im going to leave you with a comparation of 2 xbox 360 games. One is 5 years old, the other is coming this year. Im again talking about Halo. With this comparison you can see how much Wii U can grow over the years:

^To be honest, the difference between those two specific pictures isn't enormous. I've seen better Halo 4 pics and worse Halo 3 pics. Keep in mind though that I have a low-res screen right now.

I'm too arsed to search for other pictures right now, but your point comes across. There is room for a lot of improvement between the life cycle of one console. Compare GUN to BF3 for example.

It is unfair to have any other comparison! This are exclusive Xbox 360 games, made just for the system. Maybe Gears of War 1 vs Gears of War 3 is another good comparison. There are games that are made 2010, 2011 etc. and were far worse graphically than Halo 3.

I played both games recently, and trust me Halo 4 >>>>>>>>>>(much better) Halo 3! Here are some links with more pictures:

I horribly disagree with you on first party sales taking the back seat to 3rd party and nothing has changed in the last 10 years in that sense. People buy systems for 1st party titles. All the games you mentioned can be had on on the PS3,360,and PC. Games like Halo, Uncharted, God of War, and Mario/Zelda move systems. If they didn't we would have no need for 3 consoles. To say otherwise is ridiculous.

You're not getting the point. lets say A console had no 1st party games,i like metroid and mario as much as the next guy but theres no way i would favor A few 1st party games over A mountain of future 3rd party games. The console that wins is the one that has full 3rd party support and decent exclusives. I would have an xbox if the 50$ A year wasn't bullcrap. To many times have I heard "Coming to the Ps3, 360, and PC" and too many times have I heard "Don't worry bro we still have pokemon and happy fun hello kitty island" -________-

You know, ive been looking around a lot of sites that claim to be digging up info from iwatas tear down, and while all of them ridicule the 'small' size of the wii u's mcm cpu footprint, not a single one of them mention how its gigantic compared to the 360's cpu on the 360 slim valhalla mcm.

Hmmmmm.....

I completely get the point - I'm not saying 3rd party don't don't sell systems - but what I'm saying is 1st party generally decides which system. If there were no such thing as 1st party exclusives then there would be no need for more than one home console..period
