Wii U's RAM is slower than PS3/Xbox 360.

Someone did a tear down of the Wii U and found out it had a 2GB Samsung DDR3 RAM running at a max speed of 17 GB/s.
For comparison,
Xbox 360 - 22.4 GB/s
PS3 - 25.6 GB/s

I'm sort of disappointed... Oh well, it made the system much cheaper anyway.

Nintendo really cheaped out on this hardware IMO... Seems that the more I hear about it, the more disappointed I get. -_-

its the trend is going to be next gen it seems

in racing game terms it has a bit less of acceleration but it have more max speed

Well this is interesting.

Indeed.
Seems like a real ball in a cup to anyone who wants to load games at a decent speed.
Nintendo are usually on top of small stuff like this. I hope it was a mistake.

Or play games what need to be processed quickly, ie every game in the next 5 years.

Most games are going to work pretty fine so the lack of RAM aint that big of a downer

So far the only developer who really commented was Tecmo Koei. They said it only effected the amount the stuff they can have on screen at once, but could work around it.

nobody seems to mentioning the fact that although the ram is slower there is more of it than in other consoles

I would have to see the other specs to decide, but I'm starting to think the Wii U is only as powerful as the 360/PS3.

Just because a systems engine lacks in one area doesnt mean it sucks. The Ram wont mean much if the rest of the procecssor is powerful.

I would have to see the other specs to decide, but I'm starting to think the Wii U is only as powerful as the 360/PS3.

It is only in just one area so you cant really say that as a fact because otherwise the wii u is more powerful

That supposedly fast GPU will get bottlenecked by slow RAM, Mr. Saturn.

I just hope Nintendo can pull it off becasue Sony has too much BS on their console and All my xbox's broke from hardware defects.

The wii u is not novice just becuase it has one weakness! Thats like saying the Genesis was way better than the SNES because of so called "blast processing"!

Apparently it has two weaknesses: Slow RAM and developers have claimed a slow CPU.
