#279551 I redesigned Wii U...

Posted by dragomix on 02 April 2014 - 09:14 AM

The sad part is that this must be a new SKU with no gamepad.....................  :D

Game Pad is just not in that scene. I will do the GamePad redesign later and bring them together. GamePad will just get reskin that will go with these colors.

#279541 I redesigned Wii U...

I was thinking about best way to redesign Wii U. Not by changing hardware, but just as cosmetic change for better consumer recognition. So dimensions are the same, hardware is completely the same (motherboard is the same, Disc drive is the same...), everything is the same except the looks. I came up with this:

What do you think? Better than now or worse?

#196109 April Wii U update coming next week

Posted by dragomix on 17 April 2013 - 11:34 AM

Ok that makes more sense, I would hope that it gives you a warning before downloading and installing firmware updates not to unplug the console.

But updates are now done in stand by mode... you dont know when update is beginning and when it will end. You can have power cuts...

The solution should be similar to one that PC have for years... Dual BIOS. System should have basic functions in 2 separate locations. If update fails, system boots up from another location or recovery state.

#191932 Batman Arkham Origins

Posted by dragomix on 09 April 2013 - 07:00 AM

Batman Arkham Origins has just been announced for PC, Wii U, PS3 and Xbox 360! Set several years before the previous chapters in the series, the story will put you in the shoes of a younger Batman. Players will meet many of the franchise’s most important characters for the first time and even develop important relationships with them.

Alongside the main game, a handheld title called Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate will be available for 3DS and Vita platforms. Both games will be available on October 25th of this year, and will be developed by WB Games Montreal, rather than series creator Rocksteady. Stay tuned to Gamefocus for more details on the game!

#191268 Why Retro Studios ISN'T making a Star Fox Game!

Posted by dragomix on 07 April 2013 - 02:25 PM

List is legit:

Super Mario Wii U - New 3D Mario ND (true)

Metroid - New retro's game? (dont know)

Zombie - Zombie U or Zombie U 2? (true)

Yoshi's Land - ND (ture)

Flipnote Studio - 3DS (true)

Donkey Kong - Donkey Kong 3DS (true)

Wii Fit - E3 (true)

Soul Hackers - 3DS NA release (true)

Resident Evil's - Resident Evil Revelations (true), and 6 (was in development but cancelled)

Metal Gear Solid - Metal Gear Solid 5 Wii U ? (dont know)

FF 3 - VC (true)

DQ 10 - DQ 10 HD (true)

So only 2 titles are not confirmed, Metroid and MGS. Metroid is probably new Retro's game, and MGS is MGSV. I hope they announce MGSV Wii U on E3.

#181768 [Photo] Wii U GPU Die

Posted by dragomix on 11 March 2013 - 04:25 PM

One Neo gaf member found this:

Ah, I found an interesting photo. Its not a die shot but I'm sure it can be of some use.

Quote:
Radeon%205550%20Block%20Diagram.jpg200909231041351309.jpg

Fab process: 40 nm
Core Speed: 550 Mhz
Processing power (single precision): 352 GigaFLOPS
Polygon throughput: 550M polygons/sec
Unified Shader: 320(64x5)
Memory bandwidth: DDR3: 24.5 – 28.8 GB/s (isn't the Wii U's RAM clocked at exactly half that? That would make it 28.8 with both used simultaneously. Just a thought)
Texture Mapping Units: 16
Render Output Units: 8
32 Z/Stencil ROP Units
8 Color ROP Units
ATI Eyefinity multi-display technology - Three independent display controllers
Maximum board power: 39 Watts
I also recall people suggesting it could be an e6760 base a while back. Its also 40 nm. What is the likelihood of that I wonder.

Also, maybe that thing the Toki Tori devs found that saved them 100 MB of memory was HDR texture compression.

Can someone tell me what "Order-independent transparency" means for a game?

If it had 64 shaders per SIMD core, than Wii U wold have 8*64=512 shaders.

In gflops it would be 563gflops. I think that this is the strongest candidate for Wii U GPU. I will research more to find more info if I could.

#180621 Do Graphics Really Matter?

Posted by dragomix on 08 March 2013 - 11:00 AM

There is gaming triforce, but that triforce composed of gameplay, story and presentation. You must nail 2 out of 3 to have great game.

For game that have exelent gameplay, but ended up being crapy, i dont know. Maybe Ghost Recon future soldier, that game have exelent gameplay, but lacs story and presentation. AC3 also have good gameplay, but story and presentation are not good.

Graphics all though mighty impressive when done well do not make the games fun, they just make them more attractive, I bet you if skyrim was released with last gen graphics it would have still sold in huge amounts.

That game is called Morrowind, you should try it... ;)

#178934 Nintendo and Crytek... could it work?

Posted by dragomix on 04 March 2013 - 08:38 AM

Nintendo is doin this. Look at Wonderful 101, Boyaneta 2, Lego City Underground. This is how Nintendo is solving the third party problem, and we will see more at E3. It is purely the smartest move yet.

Nintendo need more publishers outside Japan! Nintendo needs one exkluzive TPS game (Uncharted, Gears of War) , one exkluzive modern FPS game (Halo, Killzone)... People like this kind of games, and i know Nintendo can make best FPS and TPS out there, they just need will to do it. Crytek can make excellent FPS game, Nintendo just need to ask them, and give them money!

#176030 Exactly how large is the power gap between the Wii U and the PS4?

Posted by dragomix on 25 February 2013 - 11:06 AM

Im not saying the ps4 is more powerful than a high end gaming rig but it will still do graphics that look AMAZING and on par with those £3000 rigs but in a different way.

NO, its not. Look at this:

Posted Image

No AA, 1080p@30fps, still not better than Crysis 3 on max...

And here is the interview with Crytek about next gen, I posted it already but nobody reads!

http://www.eurogamer...r-of-gaming-pcs

PS4 is 500$ PC that will perform like 600-700$ PC at its best! Wii U is a 350$ custom build machine that will perform like 500$ PC!

P.S. Ubisoft is known PC haters, their PC ports are one off the wurst PC ports out there, except Far Cry 3!

#175690 Exactly how large is the power gap between the Wii U and the PS4?

Posted by dragomix on 24 February 2013 - 05:45 PM

I give u this series of walkthrough on ps3, DONT FORGET to turn the video at 1080p for full quality.... You will notice that killzone 4 is just impressive as killzone 3... with better DOF and better light engine and higher quality of textures.... Wii U proved can do that easy.. lol

I don't know if this is because i just finished play session of Crysis 3 on High details on my PC, but Killzone 3 looks like sh....t!

The point is, i dont think that PS4 could run Crysis 3 on max!

@routerbad: Thanks!

This guy was right about everything before, I think he is right now.

Its kind of disappointing to see that Nintendo did reduce the amount of programmable shaders from 400-500 to 350 (1-2 SIMD cores), but they maybe put something more powerful instead of those cores!

What I don't get is if it is in fact R600 based, it would have ATi branding on the chip housing like Hollywood did.  That is the basis for the presumption that this is a completely custom setup.  It wouldn't justify the cost in the slightest, given we know that Ninty is losing money on console sales at the moment.  It also wouldn't make any of the recent previews from ND look possible at all.

R700 is still ATI branded! So i dont think its R700 at all! Its custom, but SPUs can be older with 20 ALUs on SPU, so we get a nuber of 160 spus @ 550MHz is 176 gflops.

I think its e6760 SPU's spot on, same clock speed, similar TDP, same production technology...

#120239 Is the Wii U Really a Graphical Jump Over the PS3 & 360?

Posted by dragomix on 22 October 2012 - 04:53 AM

If Wii U have more than 15 million head start over Sony and Microsoft, than it is possible for Wii U to become platform of choice for developers! I think that pc has the best chance to become lead platform for gaming, so maybe we see very different gaming culture more focused on pc gaming!
