The X720 & PS4 will be more powerful than the Wii U that is a FACT, both Sony & Xbox will make sure of this, the question is what will the developers do with the power.

For sure the 720 n ps4 will be more powerful they'd be mad not to be! and Devs will do what they always do with new powerful tech, make games that are bigger shinier spanglier faster...erm..stronger( eh? - the voice in my head) maybe not all that different gameplay wise from what we got now to begin with (depending on what sort of controllers etc the ps4 n 720 have of course) but a couple of years down the line they'll give us stuff that makes you go "oooh different".

ahh Gamefan was awesome! couldn't get it that often over here, but the ones i did get were great. similar story with EGM too, pity i got rid of them ages ago, i now have to trawl the 'net to find those if i wanna do a spot of nostalgic reading (found a couple of good sites that host downloadable free copies of tons of retro mags (all legal too i think? well i hopethey are anyway :blink:

) not the same as phisical but the quickest way to do some retro reading!

Well I for one appreciate the lower watt usage. The PS3 eats power and with that makes a hell of a racket. Only surpassed by the Xbox which is almost unbearable. The Wii U is nice and quiet which I like.

As has been said else where, the Wii U is much more efficient with its processors than the other consoles. I wait to see its true potential.

A lot of people say that, have you all got the older models or something? coz my slim 360 (you know..the shiny black one) is whisper quiet when im playing it?! my PC on the other hand has 3 x 120mm case fans plus the cpu fan and graphics card fans and psu fan which when they all get going is almost distractingly noisey, not hugely loud but very whirry (yeah thats a word!).

I personally am hoping that the next gen offerings from microsony are a significant step up from the ps360, it needs to be really to keep people interested, coz despite what people may say when it comes to new systems we all love new shiny impressive looking graphics, stuff that makes us go OOH! AHH! and then rush out and buy them lol. im sure the wiiU will get stuff like that over the course of 2013, just not quite as spangly as the other next gens. it'll widdle over the current systems by a fair bit in 2013 i reckon, but by this time next year it'll face some stiff competition! i personally cant wait to see how it plays out!

Im like that too, digital is ok, but nothing beats having the physical mag in your hands and flicking through the pages. also it just feels wrong reading an ipad on the crapper!

Im will confess to being a bit of a hoarder when it comes to mags too, got every issue of gamesmaster magazine so far (issues 1 to 260!) and GamesTM mag (issues 1 to130!) dont really need to keep them, but i do lol!

Glad to see its not just me then, did originally plan to do loads of gaming during my 12 days off, (must do more Skyrim, and zombiU plus got 2 or 3 games i've downloaded on XBL to start as well!) but so far i've done NONE! maybe i'll try 2morrow? used to have so much time for games *sound of violins playing* but nowadays the time seems to flash by so quickly i cant fit it all in (thats what she said! - the voice in my head),. Thats it im gonna do some gaming 2morrow! I HAVE SPOKEN, SO IT SHALL BE!!!

Ive been off work since 21st and although i keep thinking about having a go, so far i've not used my wiiu once over chrimbo, am i the only one? i've not used my 360 either, i keep finding other things to do instead, although im excited about the next gen, i hope im not losing interest in gaming?

Your best bet is to shop around n see what's out there. Not sure about hertz, my lg 32lw450u says its 400hz? It relates to refresh rate so technically higher is better, but saying that, mine is 400 and the tv downstairs is 200 and the one in the bedroom is a cheapy 60hz yet they all look the same to me when running the same things, so maybe not that important?

Ive got it for 360 and pc, but would def consider getting it again for wiiu if it was enhanced in some way or used the pad in a cool way.

Also, a bit off topic but humour me please, when the other next gens are released how hard / easy / cost effective would it be for the devs to release an update / patch for skyrim that upgraded the graphics etc for use on those new systems? e.g. you pop your 360 game disc of skyrim into your new durango or whatever it'll be called (i bought my game off XBL so would still have it), and it promps for an update , one download later, et voila! same cool game but updated to make use of the new systems power? would that sort of thing be possible you reckon?

I'll be sticking with me wiiU BUT im def getting the new xbox too, coz ive enjoyed the games on the original xbox and 360 so cant see why i wont enjoy the new one and what ever games are released on it.

I saw in the window of my local C.E.X. store, on thier trade in price list, that they were giving 30 quid trade in for Far Cry 3 on....the WiiU! good luck with that then. nice to see they know thier stuff eh?

Not sure why you would think a different HDMI cable would give a better picture. HDMI cables are all the same quality whether they cost 99p/99 cents or £100/$100.

I've been telling people this for AGES! It was confirmed a while ago during a test on some gadget programme on tv, they tested identical top end HDTV's running an identical bluray movie on identical top end players, all the tvs and players were set up the same (picture settings etc) and they tested hdmi cables ranging from a fiver up to 150 quid, i think it was, and they stated there was no difference, or if there was it was pretty much unnoticable.....i still buy reasonable priced ones though lol, just in case, but saying that my folks hdtv n bluray player are connected via a 99p hdmi cable and it looks great!

I'm hoping the Xbox has at least 8gb, coz I'm sick n tired of seeing textures popping into view in games, and hopefully with 8 gb maybe devs will be able to load enough textures in so we never see it again! Assuming that's how it works? Never been all that up on how these things work.

I will definately be getting a 720 when its released no matter what as i've owned an xbox and a 360, and pretty much all the games i've liked the look of this generation have been on the 360 so i'll stick with them next gen too (well, them and nintendo).
