#16498 Wii U Price Discussion

Posted by Dementis on 22 July 2011 - 10:50 AM in Wii U Hardware

Well Reggie did say that the Wii U will be affordable but then other sources say it will be expensive.

There are no other sources. If it's not from Nintendo it's not a reliable source. It's a year off even, so not even Nintendo can say.

Oh for god's sake. It's a year off! It's a place holder! There is no way in hell Nintendo would even think of selling it for $500!

#10004 Wii U Price Discussion

Posted by Dementis on 21 June 2011 - 10:31 PM in Wii U Hardware

Absolute crap. If a website puts up a preorder price they're just putting it up to a price high to make profit from idiot who'd go into the store and pay right there and then but keep it low enough to not seem impossible. No one knows the price, I doubt even Nintendo does yet. It's got a year to go yet.

Well Start saving 'cause it's just a matter of time before the actual price is revealed.

Just so you know, matter of time equals to at least a year, so why is this still being discussed?

#16523 Let's Talk IPs!

Posted by Dementis on 22 July 2011 - 12:57 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Not that hard though. Just take a look at Fusionfall. They managed to mix most of Cartoon Networks shows into a single universe, so why can't nintendo do the same

Yeah, but they could actually fit relatively easy into the same universe. It's not easy to combine medieval Zelda with futuristic Metroid.

Donkey Kong Four?

A sequel to the gameboy Donkey Kong and with bigger levels. Donkey Kong Jr. returns.

#22807 Retro Studios are working on a Wii U game

Posted by Dementis on 19 August 2011 - 12:56 AM in Wii U Games and Software

NO MP4. IT WAS A TRILOGY FOR A REASON.
I'd like to see them do a new IP for Nintendo.

Sort-of like how they released a PotC Trilogy?
But before you die of rage, hear me out. A Metroid game that is developed by Retro doesn't need to be part of the Prime Arc. The sooner everyone realizes this, the better.

Also, Retro never actually said this, it was another one of those lies/rumors by that Emily Rogers person.

EDIT:

Retro isn't developing Mario Kart 7, they're helping design a track based on Donkey Kong Country Returns, that's all.

#22979 Retro Studios are working on a Wii U game

Posted by Dementis on 20 August 2011 - 10:26 AM in Wii U Games and Software

The only official mention of Metroid was talking about possible concepts, which included the scan visor. As evidenced by Other M, Sakamoto cares more about gameplay (Actually, Other M is a terrible example) than writing short scientific logs about the creatures in the Metroid world, so either Retro are making another Metroid game or they it's just speculation.

Also for people whining about Metroid and saying they won't make another, a quick google search of "Retro not making anymore Metroid games?" shows random links and the only thing of relation is a blog post on 1Up entitled "Retro may return to Metroid one day".

#22822 Known facts

Posted by Dementis on 19 August 2011 - 07:16 AM in Wii U Hardware

So show me, I'm prepared to be astounded. Don't forget, I'm talking about comparing both at a resolution of 1080p, what most modern T.V.'s are capable of, as console players tend to use T.V.'s, and this thread is about consoles. I'm just using high-end P.C.'s as a measure of what "next-gen" consoles might be like.

I'm perfectly prepared to accept that you find the differences "jaw-dropping", fine, I don't, but does that change the points I made? A: That even a "next-gen" console which was as good as, or better than, a current high-end P.C. will not make the Wii U obsolete, and B: If gamers were really that "moved" by such things then we would all be playing on P.C.'s, not consoles.

The Wii U is very likely to hold it's own with "Next-gen" consoles, regardless of their power-ups.

It changes your points because:

A: A console with the same amount of current top of the range PCs is impossible, and if it weren't it would make the Wii U obsolete if just for the cool kid factor.

B: No, no we wouldn't. A PS3, which is considered to be amazing graphics can be bought for $299 last time I check, where as a top of the range PC costs well over $1000

You're saying that this looks the same as this?

Even that can't be used in an argument because the PS3 example was using the full power of the console, i.e, that's all it can show at one time, at a push.

Should you add the screen is not multi-touch?

I did, I said single touch.

#22596 Known facts

Posted by Dementis on 18 August 2011 - 01:46 AM in Wii U Hardware

No, the comparison was specifically to show the quality of P.C. graphics over console graphics.

This is more like it though a little older;

It looks good when the video is stopped and the differences are pointed out, but how many would find this compelling enough, in gameplay, to buy a new machine? It certainly does not make the less powerful machine obsolete, as many "next-gen" evangelists are claiming would happen to the Wii U. I doubt the differences between the PS4 and the Wii U, at least graphically, would be much greater then the differences shown here.

I don't think you understand what we're saying. The difference between even PS3 and top of the range computers are jaw dropping. The ones posted here don't even show actual in game scenes.

And the differences must be bigger than that if Zelda won't be possible on PS3.

The way I look at it is, to compare the PS3 and Xbox with high-end P.C.'s. I saw a comparison not long ago, possibly at IGN, and they had to slow the clips down to point out the differences, even then, I was less than astounded. I doubt the "next-gen" consoles will be much more powerful than a current top of the range P.C., and I don't see a stampede of gamers from current consoles to P.C.'s, so, though the differences will be hyped to the heavens, in reality, I doubt they will be Earth-shaking.

Erm... what? You might have to check a real comparison there because top of the range PCs are really ahead of consoles.

I thought it was confirmed the optical discs would be 25GB.

I recall reading that, now you mention it, but I don't know what the source was. If you can find it for me I'd gladly appreciate it.

I thought specs were still subject to change, or have Nintendo finalised everything?

Nope, they're still subject to change, but these are the only facts that have been confirmed to be true of yet.

Also, can this be pinned? I don't want it to die ):

Okay, but is there any difference in the quality of the picture? Is one better than the other?

I believe that 1080p is clearer and the frames load onto the screen quicker (Though for TV broadcasts it's not used due to bandwidth issues). They both have the same resolution though.

#12023 Super Mario Wii U

Posted by Dementis on 03 July 2011 - 12:08 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Awesome! It would be great if it was a Yoshi game. :D

No... no it's wouldn't... the only people who'd buy the console would be from PS3/360, a few casuals and the people who buy at launch because it's Nintendo. If they announced it as a Mario game then revealed it a Yoshi game it would probably loose (more than?) half the customers.

I'm not saying that I don't want a Yoshi game, because I do, but from a logical stand point it would be like, say, a surfer going on the biggest wave, then purposely falling to go on a smaller wave.

#12060 Super Mario Wii U

Posted by Dementis on 03 July 2011 - 08:40 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I want an open world Mario game, it'd be pretty awesome. The Mushroom Kingdom would be the hub, and while you can walk almost everywhere, there would be a pipe system (Like the sewers and underground in Paper Mario/2) for quick transport. Maybe cannon to be launched in to a cloud level.

That "Legend of Skulkid" thing is Skullkid from Majora's mask/Ocarina of Time

Weather this is real or not, I decided I'd keep a little hope by creating a guide that has a correct translation and goes through the list itself. http://www.mediafire...rege9rkzbesfyty

According to my translation, Lucario was the only SSBB character cut. :P

Ugh, please don't use a file hosting site. Post it here or use drop box.

#9182 Pikmin 3

Posted by Dementis on 19 June 2011 - 10:12 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Lol. Pikmin are like...one big entity man. Pikmin is love...pikmin is him.....hehe, groovy. :P

I think he was referring to Olimar as Pikmin there, which is worse than calling Samus "Metroid or Mario (Jumpman) Donkey Kong.

#9194 Pikmin 3

Posted by Dementis on 19 June 2011 - 10:47 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Don't forget calling Link Zelda.

Ah, that one is hilarious.

Another terrible, TERRIBLE mistake is thinking "Metroid" (Samus) is male. Not only does it mean you're really stupid, it also means that you're so terrible you've never completed the game, because by the end of all Metroid games you've seen Samus' face at least once.

I know. :P But comments like that do make me wonder if he's even given Pikmin (and poor Captain Olimar) a chance.

Not many games like that are given a chance. If the construction of sequels were based on their sales, then Pikmin 2 probably wouldn't have been created. But Nintendo doesn't care and spoils Miyamoto, but no one cares because this leads to good things. For example, Luigi's Mansion 2 is being made just because Miyamoto wanted to make it. I have no doubt it's the same or Pikmin 3. Of course, if people knew Miyamoto, the man behind Mario and other big Nintendo franchises, was the one who made it they would probably give it a go.

#22090 Pikmin 3

Posted by Dementis on 16 August 2011 - 11:05 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Well yeah i know you guys obviously don't care about graphics but if you're expecting Pikmin 3 to have ultra realistic plants and enviroments or to even have large maps and more pikmin onscreen well you can just put those dreams aside cause it was developed on the Wii and all they might do is just upscale the resolution and add new controls.

Bull. Nintendo have never done such a thing and never will because it would upset fans that much it'd probably get minimal sales.

#9087 Pikmin 3

Posted by Dementis on 19 June 2011 - 07:48 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I played pikmin 1 after seeing it on luigi's mansion and i loved it. Just the idead of making an endless amount of pikmin to fight for you and collecting ship parts is cool but emporer bulblax had me running back and forth back to get more pikmin. At first I liked the idea of no time limit in Pikmin 2 but i always felt like there was no worries at all even if you get an extinction you can still gather more pikmin as long as you want which to me took the fun out of the game.
Pikmin 1- Race against time to find your ship parts, will you escape alive?

Pikmin 2- Gather treasure with all the time in the world, mabye we should nap.

It was still fun but i think in a game you have to worry about dieing to have fun otherwise it's like having infinite heatlh.

In Pikmin2 I worried all the damn time, sure, it's not game over if you loose all your Pikmin but bloody hell, the inclusion of so many bosses and having one in pretty much every dungeon scared me a fair bit. To be honest, I want there to be a bit more focus on finding new species and exploring in the 3rd game. In the second it's nice because you find more species and things, like the Cannon Beetle Larva, but it's a bit sad that you never get to see the full grown one outside of the first game. It'd be nice if after a while one of two the Cannon Beatles Larva grow up but they never did.

#11573 E3 2012... im a little worries.

Posted by Dementis on 30 June 2011 - 11:05 AM in Wii U Hardware

i said right now as in PS3... it's the most powerful console but it isn't easy to develop for.

No... you said

the developers always flock to the most powerful console....

Which is incorrect.
