#108551 You want to preorder deluxe?

Posted by rschauby on 16 September 2012 - 09:29 AM in Wii U Hardware

I don't "trust" pre-orders as guaranteeing me a release day system. Also, the cynic in me is assuming both will not go through.

#108482 You want to preorder deluxe?

Posted by rschauby on 16 September 2012 - 07:15 AM in Wii U Hardware

I went in Friday afternoon to GameStop and was a little upset to hear that Deluxe models pre-orders were gone. After reading the news, I went back Saturday morning and just pre-ordered the Standard. I traded in my Wii + Games for $100, but I only put the minimum $25 towards the pre-order. I ordered all my launch games on Amazon (Zombi U, Mario U), and ordered my Pro controller from Newegg. I also secured a Deluxe pre-order from ToysRUs. If that one comes through from TRU, I will just cancel or sell the Standard one from GameStop.

If Newegg or Amazon open up pre-orders, I will cancel all my above plans and just order everything from them.

#108704 WiiU presale sellout smells fishy...

Posted by rschauby on 16 September 2012 - 01:40 PM in Wii U Hardware

And they didn't even sell any on Amazon.

I wonder if Nintendo has a million reserved for Amazon just in case...

#113131 wii u on ebay selling for extreme amount of money

Posted by rschauby on 27 September 2012 - 07:26 AM in Wii U Hardware

Listed! = sold

You could list one at $1 million. Doesn't mean that is what they're selling for.

#108701 Wii U eShop Digital Downloads - First Party Available Day One

Posted by rschauby on 16 September 2012 - 01:31 PM in Wii U Games and Software

http://mynintendonew...on-release-day/

Can someone please confirm that First Party Nintendo Games (i.e. NintendoLand, Mario U) will be on the Wii U eShop on launch day? If this is the case, then those who do not need a disc need not worry about pre-ordering from a retailer.

#108834 Wii U eShop Digital Downloads - First Party Available Day One

Posted by rschauby on 16 September 2012 - 06:03 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I know it removes the chance of reselling, but having an 8 year old son using the system I very much like to avoid him handling discs as much as possible.

#108974 Wii U eShop Digital Downloads - First Party Available Day One

Posted by rschauby on 17 September 2012 - 06:44 AM in Wii U Games and Software

i would never download a game when i can get the disc. Its the same with CD/Vinyl, i just like having something i can physically own. I dont really see he advantages of download over disc.

I have an 8 year old son and a wife. Kids and spouses scratch/lose/break things. Losing the benefit of reselling a game for $5 is worth the trade off in security. Not to mention the benefits of less wear on the machine by not having to spin & exchange discs.

#109267 Wii U eShop Digital Downloads - First Party Available Day One

Posted by rschauby on 17 September 2012 - 04:30 PM in Wii U Games and Software

If we get the Deluxe version, supposedly it comes with some membership which gives you 10% savings on the e-shop. This might help offset the inability to resell.

#112296 What is your most anticipated download title?

Posted by rschauby on 24 September 2012 - 07:18 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I plan on downloading NSMBU from the eShop on day 1. So it better be there!

#108538 What games did U pre-order?

Posted by rschauby on 16 September 2012 - 08:55 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Already ordered:

Mario Brothers U
Zombi U

Considering Black Ops 2 if Amazon can put it in their system.

#125176 Walmart.Com preorders

Posted by rschauby on 06 November 2012 - 05:16 PM in Wii U Hardware

I ordered my Deluxe Wii U on 9/16 and paid for rush shipping. My order on my Walmart.com account page says "Processing" and states it will arrive on 11/20.

I did not order a "bundle", just the Deluxe console.

If they cancel my order there will be hell to pay.

#108559 Two gamepad support... what dont we know?

Posted by rschauby on 16 September 2012 - 09:37 AM in Wii U Hardware

I really really hope Nintendo and Developers don't move towards supporting 2 Gamepads. I know the Gamepad is awesome, but it is super expensive. Also as mentioned, it will consume more resources to run. I'm hoping Nintendo and developers can find a way to keep games and multiplayer centered around only having 1 Gamepad per system. Having to buy $40 Wii Motes and $50 Pro controllers is enough...

#112466 Toys R Us selling Wii U for 419.99

Posted by rschauby on 24 September 2012 - 04:45 PM in Wii U Hardware

I don't see the problem with selling a $300 MSRP System with two(2) $60 MSRP games for $420, but that's just me...

#108542 Sniper Elite V2 on Wii U?

Posted by rschauby on 16 September 2012 - 09:02 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Sniper Elite V2 is a very good game.

This seems too specific to be a mistake.

#112595 Sleeper hit and bust of the launch lineup

Posted by rschauby on 25 September 2012 - 08:10 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Sleeper: I don't think the true sleeper hit has been announced yet.

Bust: Zombi U. It's waaaay too gimmicky.

#109728 Should I sell my PS3 for a Wii U?

Posted by rschauby on 18 September 2012 - 04:01 PM in Wii U Hardware

I'm going to hang onto my slim PS3. It's still one of the best Blu-Ray players you can buy, and it's the only Blu-Ray player I own, so replacing it will cost me money. Also, Sony does have a few exclusives I already own and want to play in the future. I own a Roku, and a Vizio Co-Star (Google TV), and it is far and away the best Media streaming device I own.

It's just not worth $300 for what I would have to give up.

#153709 Several problems with new wiiu :(

Posted by rschauby on 29 December 2012 - 06:53 PM in Wii U Hardware Help

If you haven't downloaded any eShop games I would try for an exchange at your retailer. If you have eShop games don't do anything but call Nintendo.

#171885 Question Concerning the Wii U

Posted by rschauby on 15 February 2013 - 06:26 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I would definitely hold out another few weeks and get one of the new Deluxe Bundles. For an extra $30 you get an extra game and the Wii U Pro Controller. They're essentially tossing in $110 of extra stuff for only $30 more.

#108489 Pro controller question

Posted by rschauby on 16 September 2012 - 07:20 AM in Wii U Hardware

I honestly very much dislike the Wii Mote. I really hope it is abandoned on the U. I am so tired of pointing a wand at the TV screen. I am hopeful that most developers will design mainly for the Pro and the Gamepad. I will probably base all my game purchasing decisions based on this; I just hope all Nintendo IP games stick with Gamepad design direction.

#166245 Parental Controls - YouTube BUSTED!

Posted by rschauby on 03 February 2013 - 07:41 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I've had this issue for a while, and the rest of the internet doesn't seem to be "talking" about it.

In Parental controls, if the Wii U eShop is set to "locked", then the YouTube app will be blocked from use. It sure would be nice allow Youtube while blocking eShop access for his account.

Anyone else notice this?

#108563 pad screen resolution?

Posted by rschauby on 16 September 2012 - 09:47 AM in Wii U Hardware

A quick Google search reveals current calculations of 158 ppi (pixels per inch). While not "retina" level, this is pretty good as long as you don't hold it 3 inches away from your face.

#114086 One gamepad

Posted by rschauby on 01 October 2012 - 06:29 AM in Wii U Hardware

I really hope they don't sell additional Gamepads. This system is expensive enough. If game developers start developing around multiple Gamepads, it will drive the cost of ownership up another $200. Just keep multilayer games using the Pro Controller or Wiimote.

#112465 No Wii U price cut for years

Posted by rschauby on 24 September 2012 - 04:43 PM in Wii U Hardware

I don't think "Planned" price cuts are part of a normal strategy. Of course it makes sense a few years later after a new "slim" and cheaper version can be made available, but I think all hardware companies aim to price things right at launch.

#143673 New Update right now?!

Posted by rschauby on 04 December 2012 - 05:47 PM in Wii U Hardware

Gah. That means I'll have to pull it out of the closet and update it again! I'm trying to get this thing finalized so it will be ready to play Christmas morning.

But, I won't complain if this update includes features and hopefully OS performance increases.

#137147 My Wii U rant...

Posted by rschauby on 23 November 2012 - 08:45 PM in Wii U Hardware

I have owned almost every system since the Atari 2600. The Wii U is a quality system, and I believe the Gamepad is revolutionary, just like the Wiimotes before it. I like the variety and options games and developers have in how they choose to utilize the Gamepad. I really am not interested in playing "touch" games, and I think the launch titles really do a good job of showing how the controller and extra screen can be used. I am perfectly fine if some games want to ignore the second screen completely and just use it as a mirror. I think off-TV play is one of the absolute best features of this system, and I hope every game moves to support it in some capacity. I also think the 2nd screen will allow for some of the most unique and fun local multiplayer that has never before been seen on a console system.
