Finally! I've been wanting to get my hands on these two games for a while now!

#229291 What Consoles do you have?

Posted by IvyT on 06 July 2013 - 08:34 AM in General Gaming

  • Playstation 2
  • Playstation 3
  • PSP (sold mine, but I can play on my brother's anytime)
  • Xbox 360 (meh, never really liked it much, it's not even hooked up to my TV anymore)
  • NES (that I'm looking to sell)
  • Game Boy Color
  • Game Boy Advance (had an SP too, my brother lost it)
  • Nintendo DSi XL
  • Wii U

and a gaming PC which is currently needing a small upgrade but I'm pleased with my PS3 and Wii U :)

#230753 Origin of your username

Mine comes from one of my favorite fictional characters, Ivy Tamwood from the Hollows series. It's a pretty good series of books but the main character annoys more than anything, I only read them for Ivy  :P

Pretty basic stuff, haven't been in the mood to customize anything except the wallpaper  :P

#228694 Official Nintendo Network ID Sharing Thread

Posted by IvyT on 04 July 2013 - 03:05 AM in General Gaming

Just got my Wii U but feel free to add me: IvyTamwood

Currently I only own NintendoLand but I'm looking to get more titles soon  ^_^

#229292 Which game are you playing right now ?

Posted by IvyT on 06 July 2013 - 08:37 AM in General Gaming

On my PS3 I'm playing New Game Plus on The Last of Us, ICO and The Cave (too many titles too play thanks to PSN+).

On the Wii U, only playing Nintendo Land and Rayman Legends Challenges. Trying to get Lego City or MH3U soon.

#229391 The official "What games should I get?" Thread

Posted by IvyT on 06 July 2013 - 03:34 PM in Wii U Games and Software

At this point, the Wii U's library is very limited, especially when it comes to games worth paying full retail price.

I personally think New Super Mario Bros. U, Lego City and Sonic All-Stars are the ones you should get, especially if you're more of a casual gamer. If you want to get something a bit more intense, Monster Hunter 3 and ZombiU are great titles.

On the eShop the definite must have is Trine 2. Give a try to the Rayman Legends Challenges App because not only it'll give you new challenges everyday, it's a great glimpse at what's coming when the full game comes out. And it's free, so you can't really beat that.

You can also get great games from the Wii library if you skipped the Wii last gen, and you can get those for a pretty cheap buck now.

#233053 Are Devs "Lazy" Or Is The Wii U Difficult To Develop For?

Posted by IvyT on 18 July 2013 - 08:46 PM in Wii U Hardware

I think for these big shot devs the issues lies in profiting. Developing a game for the Wii U is obviously going to be different than developing for the PS3/360 but that extra effort might also require more human resources and it's also possibly more costly. Now, do they want to shell out extra $$$ (even if it's a small amount considering all their wealth) for a console that's selling poorly? No. They rather invest in other, more successful, consoles that'll give them more sales, therefore more profit.

#235334 New Zelda U Rumours

Posted by IvyT on 27 July 2013 - 01:54 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Wow did Nintendo get inside my head and found out all the stuff I wanted from a Zelda game?

Is this a dream??? I can't believe this, if this is true, this might be one of the best, if not the best, Zelda game ever.

#229393 Wind Waker U Discussion

Posted by IvyT on 06 July 2013 - 03:46 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I'm not expecting everything to be perfect I think Nintendo are rushing this a bit.

They're rushing it because the Zelda team said they want to deliver a better experience for the "true HD Zelda on the Wii U" but that's taking them longer than expected so they want to give something to Zelda fans anyway.

#229288 Wind Waker U Discussion

Posted by IvyT on 06 July 2013 - 08:28 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I never played the original, and since there's not a lot of games I want to buy for the Wii U this year, I might get it during the 1st month if I find it cheap somewhere. Maybe wait til there's 2nd hand copies.

#232685 Will you buy Pikmin3, or not?

Posted by IvyT on 18 July 2013 - 12:41 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I'll likely get it when the price drops to about $20.

Hmm if it ever drops that low. It's rare for Nintendo first-party games. But that'd be a great deal, obviously. Maybe you can get it that low 2nd hand.

#232247 Will you buy Pikmin3, or not?

Posted by IvyT on 16 July 2013 - 11:31 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Not gonna pre-order because there's not any kind of pre-order bonus and I'd rather wait a couple of days for feedback from reviews and stuff, since this is gonna be my first Pikmin game (aside from the Pikmin minigame on NintendoLand :P)

I don't think there's a point in waiting for a price drop on this one since it might take quite some time, considering this is a big Nintendo title... Just look at NSMBU. It's still priced between $40-$60 everywhere I see.

#230273 Ubisoft – Zombie U “wasn’t even close to being profitable”

Posted by IvyT on 09 July 2013 - 02:37 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Well obviously ZombiU isn't going to sell as well as, say, NSMBU but that's to be expected just a little, right? I mean, not only most people who buy the Wii U mostly enjoy only Nintendo's first-party games (tbh that's my case) but survival horror is rarely a genre that gets as many sales as other genres, and considering this is a brand new IP, it's sort of to be expected. And I've played the demo and to be honest I wasn't that impressed with it. I was gonna buy it but I'm glad I tried the demo first. The gameplay feels bland, repetitive and I feel like they didn't try that hard with the environments, not to mention story-wise it's terribly boring and there's not even a likable character that you can get attached to because once you die, you start over with a completely new character.

#234717 Call of Duty Ghosts OFFICIALLY COMING TO WIIU!

Posted by IvyT on 25 July 2013 - 09:26 AM in Wii U Games and Software

This is good, maybe people will stop complaining about "not enough third-party support" or "not enough hardcore games".

#234827 Call of Duty Ghosts OFFICIALLY COMING TO WIIU!

Posted by IvyT on 25 July 2013 - 01:37 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I don't understand everyone's obsession with getting DLC though. I mean, for me, DLC are just a pain; most of those things could've been easily included in the game, most are seriously overprice and 4/5 DLC's add little to no content (the only DLC's I ever bothered getting were for Mass Effect, that actually added more to the story).

#232744 New Super Mario Bros. U Reviews

Posted by IvyT on 18 July 2013 - 05:53 AM in Wii U Game Reviews

It's worth $40.  Do you like Luigi at all? You could also wait for the retail version of New Super Luigi U that's only $30.  You seem to be playing a few games at the moment though. If I were you I would play what you're playing now, wait for Pikmin to come out, decide if you're going to get that (I bet you will) and then use NSMBU/NSLU as a bridge when there's a gap in games you don't like.

Hmm I don't think I'll be getting NSLU but I have enough points in my GAME card that when I go buy Pikmin 3 I might be able to bring a NSMBU copy too. I do have a lot of Wii games to finish but I'm just so excited to play all these Nintendo franchises in HD  :P

#232335 New Super Mario Bros. U Reviews

Posted by IvyT on 17 July 2013 - 05:00 AM in Wii U Game Reviews

I really want to get this one since the last SMB game I played on a home console was on the NES times... But I've heard this is basically the same as the DS version (which I own and love) and the Wii version (don't own but I've played it as well). I could get it for around $40/$45... Do you think it's worth the price? I doubt it'll ever go down to budget price, since I still see the Wii version priced as much as $50.

#233055 Earthbound for Wii U releasing today

Posted by IvyT on 18 July 2013 - 11:11 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Yuck, 9.99 Euro.

Why are Dollar and Euro always priced the same?  At least the pricing for pounds is fine. Oh well, thanks but no thanks nintendo.

THIS. 9,99€ is more expensive than $10. And the worse is they do this with every title. I pay almost $100 for a game on release day just because someone thinks 60€ is the same as $60.

I'm sorry for the double post but I'm highly considering getting this one, despite the price. Never played the original but I feel as a RPG fan I'm missing out on a classic. But I have a few concerns before I go in... First, for those of you who already bought it, what's the filesize once it's installed? And eShop purchases on the Wii U, do they stay "bound" to my account or is the license exclusively for the console I buy it on?

#229890 Any fall Wii U titles to pre order?

Posted by IvyT on 08 July 2013 - 09:53 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Definitely get Pikmin 3 this August if you can. Then pre-order Wonderful 101 (I think some places already have it), Wind Waker HD, Rayman Legends, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze.

How is Disney Infinity remotely comparable to Skylanders, though? Unless I have the whole concept of Skylanders down the wrong way, there's little to no similarity between the two games.

#232745 I think people are overestimating the PS4.

Posted by IvyT on 18 July 2013 - 05:56 AM in General Gaming

Will see on launch day, I have 120gb fibre jobbie and our PS3 takes hours to download a game....

Yeah but that's more of a problem with the Sony servers than anyone's internet connection. I have a great internet connection too and it takes me hours too.

#229551 Getting 10 Hours Of Battery Life On My Wii Pad Now

Posted by IvyT on 07 July 2013 - 02:04 AM in Wii U Hardware

Wow I had no idea the original gamepad battery was so small, what was Nintendo thinking?

At $20 I think it's a great deal and it's almost for sure cheaper than any battery that Nintendo might come up with.

#229613 Getting 10 Hours Of Battery Life On My Wii Pad Now

Posted by IvyT on 07 July 2013 - 09:05 AM in Wii U Hardware

Just a question, for those who have the charging stand, is it bad for the battery if we put it in the charging stand even without it being fully discharged or is that not an issue? Because if it isn't, then this battery isn't that necessary. The charging cord is pretty lengthy and you can just put it on the charging stand every time you're not using it so it's always fully charged when you pick it up again.

#233745 post your net speed and update time here

I don't know how accurate this is, especially considering I'm connected via wifi but I think I have decent enough speeds (most of the time) to think I have a good internet connection. Still, the update must've taken about 2 hours, maybe a bit more. It's okay, I watched TV meanwhile  :P
