I wasn't on the forums for the ps4 reveal but is anyone else afraid for A repeat of this generation?

With the Wii U only having 4.6 percent of developers making games and the Ps4 pumping out next gen graphics that pretty much blew away what the Wii U had in the last 2 years in only 2 hours. I'm really hoping that it's not going to happen and im here so you can prove me wrong, and please no more of that "Sony isn't dumb enough to over power" (yes they are)

"Sony in finiancial crisis" (doesn't seem like thats stopping them)

"Ps4 can't be extremely more powerful then the Wii U cause it's only A year away from Wii U's release" (You mean like last gens  launch?)

No fanboy comments please, I just want some good things to hear and i'm getting enough crap for not being A 100% supporter of nintendo.

I think one should be, the recent dreadful sales numbers for the wiiU I fell provide more then enough evidence. Next gen consoles are going to launch and at that point third party support which has already been barely present will likely revert back to wii days. You may get some poor ports but as I have felt the whole time the wiiU will be similar to last gen, except I doubt it will outsell the ps3 or 360 as a large portion of the casual audience who picked up the wii for the motion controls seem to have moved on, maybe to ipad games etc, or to games on the ps3/360/pc.

Was it a demo? I thought it was a render showing what it could look like on the wiiU. The Killzone footage was a live demo and was notably more impressive from a technical stand point, the Zelda footage was very nice to see, but it wasn't mind blowing (nor was Killzone Shadow Fall, but it was closer to being so).

I have no reason to be worried about the Wii U. What we are experiencing right now is the calm before the storm. There are major AAA titles coming this year that will spike sales like mad. Nintendo and/or Wii U is in no danger whatsoever.

I'm not worried about them at all, sure they are secretive about the Wii U's real hardware and their rumored games but time and time again Nintendo may be down, but not out. Sure the PS4 is powerful console, but that doesn't mean it automatically wins because of the graphics, last gen PS3 was the most powerful but had alot of flaws, right now Sony is in a really tough situation, this system might make or break them really hard. They are losing alot of money, getting rid of companies and buildings that did not break the 50k selling point.

On that day, Sony lost their stock by 2% or 20% and Nintendo gained at the same time, why? Because everybody is on the fence about the price and worried that Sony might pull off a "599 US DOLLARS!" like they did at E3. Now with people getting laid off by the days and weeks with barely any money for themselves, It does not look so good for Sony's price point like they did with the Vita's $250 price tag. The Wii U has been out for 4 or 5 months and already fanboys are celebrating the 'death' of Nintendo because of the graphics. The xbox 360 when it first launched is almost up to par with the PS2's graphics  and look at it now, over time devs might be able to have greater graphical textures like Super Mario Bros to Super Mario Bros 3.

Also about the 4% of developers, there were developers from EA developing for the Wii U, saying that is runs 'beautifully on Wii U.' Crytek were developing Crysis 3 for the Wii U, it was almost done and ready to announce its pre order and another game was about to be announced exclusively for Wii U, EA canceled it simply because they are 'butthurt' at Nintendo's decision about saying no to this deal with Origin taking over their online services. Now a big company like EA not supporting the Wii U might cause alot of developers saying "Well if EA isn't developing and saying its not a next gen console then I wouldn't risk it."

Like i said, Nintendo may be down, but not out, they pulled it off with the Wii and its their highest selling console ever because of their ridiculously low price. So if Sony blows it with their price decisions, I don't think they would be around anymore.

IMO the PS4 didn't blow the Wii U out of the water. The only huge differences I saw in actual gameplay was better draw distance, special effects and character model. The GDDR5 RAM will definitely give the PS4 a boost over the Wii U. But from what I heard about the CPU, it isn't that impressive. The main focus has been on the Jaguar cores used in the CPU. Not as much can be said about the GPU except for a maximum of 1.82 TFLOPS. So in the end, the PS4 will have a noticeable graphical edge over the Wii U. But it won't be anywhere near the gap of tbe Wii and PS3.

The developer percentage doesn't concern me. Yet. Even though I bought the Wii U because of 1st Party titles, doesn't mean I didn't buy in hope for some good 3rd Party games. Watch_Dogs looks very promising. It's a must have on Wii U for me.

The Zelda demo was an interactive live demo, running on a very early revision of the hardware.  Keep in mind that what we saw in the Zelda demo was two years ago, on hardware that was far from finished.  PS4 hardware is already complete (and most of it is OTS) and in early stages of production.  I'll hold judgement on the Killzone demo until the game actually gets seen, running on actual hardware, somewhere other than a Sony presser.

It isn't going to be very noticable.  I doubt they'll even have 4GB of that RAM to load up with game code.  Still sweet that they went with 8GB of system RAM, but it was probably necessary to provide all of those background services.

Interesting about Zelda, in what way was it interactive? As for the Killzone footage, if the ps4 can't do what we saw there I would be shocked. The parts that where clearly gameplay where impressive, but they where not mind blowing. But it is always best to wait and see, however given GG also did the gorgeous looking kz2 and 3 I think if anything it may look better in the end.

Using the gamepad people were able to move the camera, change to night or day, play with the inventory, etc.  It was definitely scripted, but it was also definitely running live, and Nintendo gave show goers hands on with it.  I think killzone will look great, just not quite as good as what we saw.  I want to believe it was a live gameplay demonstration, but Sony pulled that before, even called it as such.  The fact that the on rails portions of the game were much more detailed than the live portions feels consistent with what we'll actually see from it, so I'll hold judgement until e3.  Honestly, though, while Killzone has always looked great, it's a particularly terrible shooter gameplay wise (opinion).

The Wii U will have many of the same titles as the PS4 so we can do comparisons when things like watchdogs drops, but I haven't seen anything from the PS4 that makes me concerned for the Wii U.  Everything that was done on PS4 hardware that we've seen is not only possible on the Wii U, as I feel X is more technically impressive.  Killzone was the only gameplay that "felt" next gen.  Klank isn't impressive at all and will probably release on PS3 as well, the rest of their presentation was target renders.

I am concerned about the Wii U not so much from the perspective of the PS4 or next Xbox because not everything is known about the PS4 yet and we know nothing of the next Xbox. The issues are lack of quality third party support on the Wii U, the lack of a solid social network structure with even things like voice chat not standardised. Tying the digital content to the system rather then the account isnt exactly odeal. The fact that Nintendo still likes to control the content on their systems both in games and also that posted by gamers on their network through Miiverse for example. Things like restricting the sale of 18 rated games on the e-shop to the early hours in the EU doesn't help either. The fact they don't seem to be very agreesive in securing third party support both in terms of games and DLC. Even multimedia playback support is lacking. Nintendo seems to just want to do their own thing their own way and not look at what the gaming public wants or how the game playing experience has changed over the years.

That said whilst what Sony announced and showed at their presentation has to be taken with a pinch of salt the PS4 has a lot of potential and Sony is likely to have far better third party support from the beginning. Their social network structure is far more solid with them promising to rectify mistakes from the PS3 by adding things like cross game chat. They have also promised to make remote play between the PS4 and Vita a standard and supported by all games except those that will use the move and or camera. If they come through with their promises and at a price which is reasonable they will be a threat. If games like Killzone and Drive Club are as impressive in reality as they looked in the presentation that will only serve to impress people more.

I agree.

However, isn't the restriction of digital distro of mature titles due to local legislation?  I thought I remembered hearing this.

I do think Nintendo did the right thing making MiiVerse completely browser based, so features can be added irrespective of firmware.  I would like to see cross game chat, and definitely video playback options over the network.

I think PS4 will be a threat in their own way anyway, they are pushing services hard, as will Microsoft, and while I'll never understand buying one system over another because of trophies and overblown social features, that's what many people want.  I think Nintendo will come through on some of those things, but I never would expect them to go as far as MS or Sony have, and I'll still be satisfied with the console if they dont.  I never (and I mean never, other than a test drive) used the social features on LIVE.  I never payed attention to achievements, I never spent a great deal of time or money customizing my avatar, I was more interested in playing games (honestly I don't mean to sound like a hipster, lol).  I did use netflix a lot on the PS3 (the PS3 version was better than xbox imo) but other than that nothing.

I certainly hope Killzone and Drive club are just as impressive, but if Sony have taught anyone anything in all their years in this industry, it's to take everything they claim with a big shaker of salt.

Wii U will be fine, why are people so negative at every console launch, I guarentee the same thing will happen 3-4 months after PS4 comes out, come back in 12-15 months, if things still look bad, complain then.

The restriction of digital distribution of 18 rated games to the early hours is due to a law in Germany where Nintendo Europe is based. I don't accept that as an argument as even though the UK and various other countries including Germany are part of the EU they still are separate countries and markets with their own laws. If they want to restrict them in Germany then so be it but I can't see why the same restriction has to be applied to the rest of the EU. The console is already has the local country specified in its settings or maybe they could restrict it based on I.P. I'm sure there are ways around it but instead Nintendo wants to just take the easy way out.

Good info, thanks.  If Nintendo Europe is based in Germany and any games on the eShop are distributed from them doesn't it stand to reason?  It's a curious decision to make simply because it is easier, considering it would seem a simple matter just to restrict based on IP as you said.  Of course I'm sure IANA only has a region specific IP range.  Basing it off of IP registration address would be considerably more complicated as ISP's based in one country could reuse those same IPs in another.

I.P. blocking is already used as a way to retrict movie and TV content from the US being streamed or downloaded elsewhere in the world. I can't stream or download such content on my Xbox or PS3 here in the UK even using US accounts unless I use a proxy. The BBC and other TV networks here in the UK block the access of their content outside the UK using the I.P. When I travel abroad even though I'm a UK citizen I can't access them on my iPad, iPhone or laptop. I'm sure the same solution could be used to identify which country you are in and therefore control when you can and cannot download specific content. Even if the servers for all. EU country e-shops are based in Germany they are still specific to each country and in their own language with their own payment system so it shouldn't be so restrictive.

That is easier to accomplish because IANA have NA IP pools and EU IP pools.  Assigned by ARIN and RIPE, respectively.  RIPE member ISPs use their address pools throughout the region, so filtering based on IP would be complicated.  Because ISPs handle infrastructure throughout a particular region on a contiguous ASN it wouldn't be feasible to restrict them based on country.  The best way, in my opinion, would be to use the physical address based on the credit card information entered by the user.  If they are using a points card it would probably still restrict purchase times, though.
