I don't see the point in discussing this:

Will newly manufactured Wii U consoles come with the updates already installed, yes.  Its already happening, and this is expected and happens with all consoles since firmware updates become normal.

Will new colours be released?  Perhaps, but its still the same Wii U so its not really an upgrade.

Will it come with more internal storage?  I doubt it, for now.  Its just not appealing to buy Wii U games digitally and 32GB is a lot of space.  Even the 8GB should last a while if the only digital titles someone buys are virtual console, UNTIL they start releasing Gamecube games that is.

So overall, no, WiiU+ wont happen because everything you are describing is already happening and also the normal thing for console manufacturers to do.  There will always be different colours, exclusive console designed, bundles, but they are still all based on the same Wii U hardware so its not a Wii U+, its still the same basic two SKUs with different configurations.

They can't upgrade the console now it's been released, they can change the cover, the gamepad design, the colours and upgrade the HDD if they want to, but they can't increase the power. What you see now is what you get, thats not to say the WiiU will be underpowered and won't be able to compete in terms of graphics, that would be a false accusation.

Going on with discs, does anyone have any idea on what it will cost to manufacture these 50gb PS4 discs? surely they will be a little strain on price.

It was my understanding that one or two PS3 games use 50GB Blurays, so it should be already known.

There are also plenty of movies on 50GB discs.  So I doubt the increase in cost will be THAT bad, as they are using a well established technology at this point.

That's not going to happen soon but maybe in a year or two.

If Nintendo did that now it would be treason to people that already bought a Wii U.But hopefully Nintendo's next system will be in par graphic wise against the PS5 and next nextbox. But that's a good 6 or 7 years into the future.

Also as all games are meant to be digital releases on PS4 and most will be on Wii U, I don't think they will be trying to fill up 50GB.

I beg to differ. I have the 8GB Wii U. Downloaded Trine 2. Then I couldn't download any demo. Or any other game. I bought a USB just so I can try MH3.

Will Nintendo be giving me a free upgrade to a WiiU+ then ?

It would REALLY upset a lot 100% i would think of current WiiU owners if Nintendo released a upgraded console so soon after release.

I think it might upset those who bought the Deluxe version of the Wii U. But ppl who purposely bought the Basic wouldn't be upset.

Don't think it's been confirmed, just presumed. I think somewhere it says 25GB per layer. However no where do I recall it being confirmed that you can get duel layered Wii U discs

That depends entirely on the developers, when they have a need for dual layer, the laser will support it.

We don't know if the optical pickup of the wii u is capable of reading 2 layers. If it is a revised firmware and later games could support 50GB. The ps3 has an actual bluray drive so needed multi-layer support as its also a blu-ray movie player. I personally think its likely Nintendo want to keep to just 25GB so it can also sell all games as digital downloads as well as physical copies. It gets a bit over the top if your download is close to 50GB. I'm more than happy with 25GB and doubt the wii u will need more than that for 99.9% of games. The ps3 has additional support for 7.1 sound and many audio formats but wii u only supports 5.1 uncompressed. The uncompressed bit is the output format it doesn't mean the sound can't be heavily compressed on the disc. The ps3 supports compressed audio tracks, dolby, dts and other formats which are normally stored in the own lighter compressed format on the disc. They can take up a lot of space.
