A mate of mine says its possible to build up a pc to PS4 spec for £500. Now iv'e not done pc building for games since the likes of Postal 2/ ETQW and won't go back to it in a hurry, but i said no way could this be done.

I'm thinking on the whole package which includes control pad, power supply, bluray drive and all the inside gubbins.

So what sort of price would it end up at?

This all started out from the concept that the WiiU could not be added up this way due to all the custom parts in the package.

From what I just calculated, if you were to buy all the parts and put it together (although some are unbuyable so I had to guess price) it would be around 750 bucks. But in sure Sony can get a discount through deals with manufacturers.

I was once known here as KillerMario, but since I really like Banjo-Kazooie, I changed my display name to show them my respect :)

without including the OS and Blu ray drive a system with equal power would probably be around 500 euro, but the thing is with a pc a bluray drive isnt necessary since you are playing the games from your hard drive, you also don't need the gddr5 ram since you have separate system and video ram, even with an os you could probably get everything besides a bluray drive for around 500 euro

this build would be around the same power and about 500 euro if you added something like an xbox 360 controller http://pcpartpicker.com/p/IMz4

500 is more than enough...  the pc using ddr3 for the cpu and gddr5 for the gpu....  And thats the logical thing to do.

even if u built a pc with i3-i5 and a gtx 560ti... is going to be stronger than ps4.

Dont forget that ps4 plays at 1080p with 2aa or no aa...  so even a basic gpgpu part could do the job.

So its possible to build a tower that plugs in and works to run games at the level the PS4 should run them. I'm suprised tbh.

The i5 i just put together for my wifes new computer can easily be more powerful than the ps4 if i throw a mid range graphics card in it.

It ran me just over 300 bucks to put together.
