So it's come to my attention that some people don't like it when other people take out their phone or camera to snap a picture of what they've ordered at a restaurant or some eating place.

I mean, I actually do this with some of the food I order (especially at some high end places). I like to share where I go and what I eat with a couple of my friends. I also like to catalogue great food experiences so I guess I do this when I can. It's not a frequent thing, as in I don't take a picture of everything I eat, but something of a common ritual.

Does anyone else do this? Does anyone hate when people do this?

I personally don't bring my DSLR to do this. My phone is sufficient enough

I take pictures of food sometimes when it looks really good and also eating at some high end places.

On the otherhand I don't like it when people take pictures of me eating.

I never do, I don't find anything wrong with it, But some people like to take it to the limit "OMG I'M EATING SPAGHETTI O'S! BETTER TAKE A PICTURE"

Yes really.

The topic is founded on the fact that people like this do exist. It's simple curiosity.

It depends I take pictures of stuff that looks amazing or absolutely awful, If the food was presented to me to be so amazing or so bad that my friends would never believe me I may take an evidence snap.

I've only ever taken one picture of food, it's a silly, harmless thing to do.

What's the point? People just assume that their friends/followers/whatever actually care about what food they're eating. "omg look at this amazing burger i just ordered..." umm no thanks.

Yes people do it, they do it to post it on twitter and facebooke.

I'm not sure why.

I have taken pictures of food I've made before.

Usually because it looks really disgusting.

Here's an example:

I like uploading pictures of an half eaten Big Mac to Instagram.

I take pics of food so when I've finished eating it, I can cry and remember it, and remind myself how delishious it was :(

I don't even know what that is meant to be.

It's a French omelette.

It was quite nice actually.

That doesn't look too bad, french omelettes are more complex than most people think.  Have to have a super hot iron skillet, just the right amount of cream, and the oven temp can't fluctuate at all while it's baking.  Plus you have to over bake it a little to make sure it isn't runny in the center.

I take pictures of food when I'm trying something new, and I have a bunch of photos from several food and wine festivals that I've been to.  I also take pictures when I make things.

It really depends for me.  I usually don't take pictures of my food when I go out to eat.  However, if I make something and it turns out really nice, I take a picture of it (where it will stay on my camera until the next SD card or format).

However, I do get angry when someone takes my food hostage (whether I made it or ordered it) and don't let me eat it until they get a "perfect" picture of it...

Dude, your Phad Thai looks amazing!

Personally I only take pictures when I eat Thai Food or make something myself.
