Amazon is the latest major retailer in the UK to drop both SKUs of the Wii U by £50. Like Shopto and Asda before it, Amazon is chopping 20 percent off the 8GB Basic Pack's launch price, placing the console at £199 ($297), while the 32GB Premium Pack with Nintendo Landbundled in is down to £249 ($372).

While sales reports haven't made great reading for Nintendo of late, likely prompting the price drops in the UK, the company enjoyed a dramatic stock bump earlier this month, put down to the weakening yen and a boom in the US jobs market.

This will help sales a bit but I feel they're jumping the gun like they did with the 3DS. Well maybe Nintendo will make you early adopters 'Nintendo Ambassadors' again...

This statement is false. The previous statement is true.

RIP in peace Nintendo.

I hope it's real, it wloud be awesome!

Hello! My name is Kao and I am a Kangaroo! If you can see my kicking picture there, you can see me riding one of mine friends! I am quite popular in the area because I saved alot of animals turning in to women accsesories. It was quite painfull on the way, but I liked the experience! I plan on buying a plane with all my money I got and going on an adventure on the isles. My first adventure was when that Mcguffin Hunter cought me, but I escaped, and I don't want to let any animal in pain! What's your story, mate?

Dont forget to point out how each game has been updated to full gamepad support of some sort, cuz 20 free oldies are a nice touch but once they said full gamepad compatibility that just completly made it worth buying it early

Think the Wii U Ambassador Program is just a hoax.

Not surprised retailers are dropping the price though, it's hard to move a system with so few games available. I wound up with 2 Deluxe sets at launch and still can't get full price for the spare one on ebay...nobody's biting.

The price drop has nothing to do with Nintendo's pricing, the retailers are selling it for less than they normally do. Maybe they are making a small loss, or maybe they are making no or a little profit now.

all the price drops i saw so far were in europe, bringing the price to the same thing as what it is in the US, or close to it.

I made it up. It was just a joke on what happened when the 3DS was price dropped.

This price drop has nothing to do with Nintendo.

If amazon and co want to make less profit on the sale of the console, more power to them.

I wish the market here was as competitive as there.

I take it you don't know that things in general are far more expensive in the EU and UK. The cost of living in general is much higher.

Retailers are shifting surplus stock at lower or even no margin. No shop wants stock just sitting on the shelf ageing. Nintendo will be forced into a price drop I think because shops simply won't be re-ordering at the current price. Its all about supply and demand and without demand no point supplying it.
