Sounds like he's making some pretty stupid assumptions here, and giving Nintendo too much credit.
That is what I think too. The guy's entire argument is predicated on the assumption that Ninty's strategy was to release an unfinished product before the competition. I cannot imagine that being a sane business model.

I'm sick of seeing this, you cant compare the launch of the PS3/360 to the Wii U, the 360 launched 8 years ago and the PS3 launched 7 years ago, it was a different time, the economy was different too, there are more gamers now than there were back then, face facts people at this point in time the Wii U is not doing well at all, the First Party Games are non existent and seem to be still a long way off, the PS4 and Xbox 720 maybe out the end of this year or the very least early next year and that will seriously damage the Wii U, people want next gen, and there are a hell of a lot of people that don't see the Wii U as next gen.
Also the 3rd Party Support is really lacking, how many games in the past month alone have been announced for the 360/PS3 and then a few days later another article pop up saying "Not Being Developed For The Wii U", developers just cant seem to justify spending money to make a game for the Wii U when it isn't doing that well, not to mention the amount of DLC announced for other platforms then saying none for the Wii U it doesn't bode well for Ninty.
I myself like my Wii U, it has its flaws but its still a decent console, but at this moment in time i have sold all my U games, because either i have completed them and then sold them on or i bought one and thought this was rubbish and returned it, also Multiplatform titles i buy either on my 360 or PS3. Don't get me wrong though i am looking forward to a lot of the titles that have been shown but they are still ages away.
Oh and one other major aspect that the Wii U is really bad with, the Online side, its absolutely horrible, some people cant get the WiFi to work without some stupid workaround, the Friends List is still stupid to use, and even though some people may disagree with this, there is no Achievement/Trophy system, face it a lot of people play games these days for this reason to show off there bigger scores and i even know a few people that didn't buy one because of this reason, stupid i know but it is true.

Nintendo Wii U 32GB Premium Pack - Black is still €290 at amazon uk

Anyone who remembers the PS3 launch window will remember the PS3 being outsold by the aging PS2, and not by just a little bit. The PS3 and 360 have a better offering right now. They have a huge library of games, and the price is cheaper. You can get a 360 for $99 with a two year Live subscription. Nintendo has to convince consumers of the value that Wii U brings. Until they have a Mario, Mario Kart, or Smash Bros on the shelves, its going to be a hard sell for a lot of consumers. Wii Sports had a ton of mass appeal, no one could have saw that coming, but I think Nintendo overestimated the impact NintendoLand would have.

I suggest people read the article instead of responding to the sensationalist thread title.
Exactly, the article doesn't spell disaster for Nintendo. The article actually seems to be about yet another analyst who thinks that free mobile apps can replace full game purchases. Also says that AAA will remain strong, but that everything else will fall away. Which I think is all about how those games are marketed, priced, and sold, and cannot be lumped together like these analysts like to do.
Indie games on home and portable consoles are selling increasingly better, and better than they do on IOS and Android. Another nugget Nintendo threw out there at GDC. The mobile gaming "industry" is not going to bring the gaming industry tumbling, it's the very AAA mentality they always seem to evangelize that will take care of that.

wi u just brand new, only they release it last November while the ps3 and xbox360 out for 7 yrs, wii u isnt out long enough to drop its price much, but it drop its price tiny bit by for eg premiere 32GB Wiiu was €380 now its €340 and Nintendo Wii U Basic Pack - White was €320 now its €300
other ive say isnt 4 times the price of the ps3 and xbox360 because the ps3 at most is €232 and xbox 360 at most is €260, so theres only about a €100 difference not a €600 if wii u was 4 times price of the the ps3 and xbox360 relativity it would cost about €800 since its €340 at the most its only so theres only about a €100 difference not a €600, to begin with ps3 was 1st release its was €600 for 80GB in 2006 and xbox 360 was €400 for 20GB in 2006 and wii was €280 or €300 in 2006

I think the wii u will be selling a bit more now because they started throwing ad's out everywhere on youtube, i usually see them daily there.

the beginning the end T____T
Yo. Relax it's alright, haters have corrupted you.
I'm still giving it time. Nintendo isn't going anywhere soon.
Exactly how we should think. This is the usual period right after launch window where a console doesn't get much, especially when it's the only one who has a foot in the next gen.

Well, I have to admit that sales aren't THAT bad per se. However, being outnumbered by nearly 200 thousands units by its competitors is worrying.
Competitors that are selling for extremely cheap, with an enormous backlog of games, and new games coming out every day. It will be a couple of years before any of the next gen consoles start really outselling last gen.

remember in 2006 and 2007 wii just as expensive as wii u nowadays, i paid €285 for wii console in GAME, other stores might gone far as €300 especially in argos which was €320, but the ps3 was twice of the wii back then, and xbox 360 was €400 or some stores it was €500, you cant compare price of gaming console that is brand new to Generation of gaming consoles that are 7 yrs old

I think one of the big points is that the wii u is not offering enhanced performance over the existing consoles it only offers enhancement over the original wii. I know many people here believe the wii u is technically superior overall to the current gen consoles. That isn't something i believe, the evidence to me indicates a console of approximately the same performance. However even ignoring that debate of the wii u's future potential it has to be said in the here and now the wii u is overall underperforming slightly compared to current gen consoles. As an average wii u games are weaker (slightly) and that clearly is going to do massive damage to wii u sales figures. So people can safely ignore the wii u as it doesn't represent a performance jump compared to their current consoles. Many people will buy a console based on the reputation of the manufacturer, its technology and the belief it will provide many great games in the future.
The wii u won't sell on that basis. The wii u will sell due to being widely supported with great software something that takes time. The ps2 outsold the original xbox and gamecube despite being much weaker because of marketing, the playstation brand and better support with a wider range of games.

Expected, seeing as there have been no new games since January. Games that aren't movie ports or shovelware.
sure wish i knew how i was playing all these games that have been released since jan. i have played the wii u more and have more games for it than i had for the 360 or ps3. had all at launch. ps3 has 0 games available. and none were close to as good as the wii u games. trolls are everywhere now.know why big boss[ probably some 8 year old girl whos family is on welfare] doesnt have any. hes to busy being a troll

Actually i was 19, as for my post all I said was "the economy was different too", how you managed to rant off with that little sentence I will never know, also 8 years ago the world was not on a huge economy ride, money wasn't everywhere, people were still struggling, maybe nowhere near as bad as it is now but it wasn't great, there were a lot of people that didn't have loads of money.
And if you had actually read that properly you will see that i was saying you cant compare the 2 launches because of the differences between now and back then, which are valid points, and when you factor in the increase in gamers thanks to things like the Wii, Smartphones and Tablets those points gain more validity.
So before you rant off and call someone a moron, maybe you should read the comment and actually take in what it says before turning into a Nintendo Fanboy/Girl and dismissing the very fact that the Wii U is not doing so well, the fact it has dropped to £149 and £199 in most places in the UK should back me up.
