He, as CEO, would have been instrumental in trying to come to a business agreement with Nintendo. He would have been there for the pitch, he might have even given the pitch.
He probably gave guidance that led to the company's dropping games for the Wii U. I doubt middle management would have taken it upon themselves to crap all over an entire platform without executive guidance, so his attitude toward Nintendo would be the company's attitude toward Nintendo.
