The Wii U isn't dead, just cause Sony's PS4 is getting alot of hype doesn't mean they are knocked out of the competition, sure graphics are nice but if that's all their doing then they might as well become a movie studio.

I mean haven't you all forgotten the January Nintendo Direct? Shin Megami Tense X Fire Emblem? Yoshi's Yarn? 'X'? Wind Waker HD? A New 3D Mario game? Mario Kart U? Who couldn't forget Smash Bros 4, Sakurai has been informing us about how its turning out to be an amazing game, possibly EVO worthy, he even hurt his hand from working to hard in Smash Bros 4's development. Retro Studios is still in this too. I understand why Nintendo hasn't said anything for the past 3 months and these are urgent, but they are developing games as we speak.

The Wii U is a great system, but all it needs is games but you and i know they are coming, Ive been with Nintendo since SNES and ive grown to know the company as the years go by, I know the waiting will be worth it, so be patient.

In all honesty, i have played playstation most of all since probably ps1/ps2, nintendo before then, a little xbox in between. Im almost 30 and i have come to the point where sony and msoft are too much about graphics and competition and have lost touch with what it is to have fun playing a game. I bought my Wii U a couple weeks after launch and tbh, Nintendo still holds that charm of fun that the other guys have forgotten about. I think most people have lost touch with just having fun and are too caught up in fanboy wars, graphics wars, exclusive wars, blah blah blah.

The games will come, every system these days have a fairly weak launch in reality, unfinished/unpolished os's, delayed/late 1st party games. I agree Nintendo missed out of some 1st party titles for launch and missing some potential 3rd parties, but i think in time the games will be here, the system will be polished up, developers that stick it out and learn to develop quality titles and show what it can really do, things will play out fine.

Some claim they have patience but they really dont, and coming from someone who almost always is a day 1 console buyer thats been through this same repetitive stuff with ps360vita (Vita forums were exactly like this for the longest time), the problem of launch issues wont be going anywhere for any system, learn patience or wait to make your purchase.

Most people criticising the Wii U are kids only playing fps games. If you are a kid only playing fps games, then, by all means, listen to the critisisms, otherwise ignore it.

Knock what off. It may not be dead but it's certainly going in that direction. There's probably eight months at most before the competition hits. Something needs to happen now to change that course. Besides you're not helping by starting yet another doom and gloom thread.

When the PS4 was announced I finally made the decision  to buy the Wii U, this because it seems that the only real thing the PS4 is adding is a bit more power. I think the graphics of the current gen is great and that the Wii U has great graphics as well, so, no reason to buy the PS4 or XBOX720 over the Wii U for me. I totally like the Wii U, though the 3DS has gotten the best games for now (which is only logical), back to Luigi's Mansion now!

The PS4 is adding other things besides more powerful hardware and includes a number of features already present in the PS3 which the Wii U doesn't have. The Wii U isn't a bad console but in its present form its certainly not a good choice as a one and only console for those who want a more complete gaming experience.

This is the narrative the games media is attempting to create, as amply demonstrated, they will even blatantly lie and make things up to ensure nintendo 'stays in its place'.

Sheep are going to go where they are herded.

First... who cares about the PS4. It's like getting excited about buying a 3 year old computer. My money is on the Xbox 720 if anything. At least Microsoft tries to innovate.

Second... Let's go through some of the "Wii U" saving games you mentioned:

Yoshi's Yarn - Oh wow Nintendo, another Yoshi platformer. Haven't seen that before

Wind Waker HD - Oh wow Nintendo, bringing a gamecube game to the HD world! Way to innovate.

A new 3D Mario Game! - Is this 1996?

Mario Kart U - Do I even need to say anything?

Smash Bros 4 - Stop it with the sequels... PLEASE

The same old tired franchises being used OVER and OVER again which are basically cliché’s of themselves.

If this is your idea of Nintendo's saving grace... then you are in for a rude awakening.

First...

I care about the PS4. And where exactly has Microsoft been innovating at? I must have missed it.

Second...

Yoshi's Yarn: I personally don't care for it. But there are probably a lot of people looking forward to it.

Wind Waker HD: Who said it was for the sake of innovation? A lot of people are waiting for an HD Zelda, and this is a filler.

The New 3D Mario: No, it is not 1996. People still love and look forward to Mario games.

Mario Kart U: No, you don't need to say anything. Refer to the new Mario game explanation.

Super Smash Bros. 4: Nintendo will continue to make sequels to their popular franchises if people still want them.

Your single opinion doesn't affect the fact that these franchises REALLY help Nintendo. What do you think has kept them alive since the N64?

As for being rehashes.... You do make a point. But that doesn't stop them from being enjoyable to some people.

Nintendo just needs some new killer IPs. They haven't made a new killer IP in years.

Stop making Smash Brothers?  I'm certainly glad that you are not running the show at Big N.  Seriously, why are you spewing this garbage on a fan site?  Isn't that what the IGN forums are for?

Xbox Live is the standard in online gaming. Sony and Nintendo are trying desperately to catch up.

Kinect - Say what you want about it, but a hands free motion sensor is being used in everything from TV's to computers now. Sony tried to rip off the Wii and failed miserably.

Just to name a few area's as of late.

I'm sure some people do enjoy them, but it's time to start demanding some more new IP's from Nintendo because third party support is going to be next to non-existant.

I agree that they have bungled another launch, but you would have to go back pretty far in time to find a Nintendo console to satisfy all of a gamer's needs.  I think that we have all come to expect that, when you buy a Nintendo product, you will get their big franchises, a few surprises, and lack of third party support.

ok I understand your PS4 point, but I really want to remain neutral on other consoles right now.

Yarn Yoshi: Oh Wow! Nintendo is FINALLY giving us a new Yoshi Platformer. Haven't seen that since 1997!

LoZ Windwaker: Oh wow! Nintendo is pulling out all the stops and pushing the Zelda series in their next new installment that they felt the need to give us a gamecube game rebuilt from the ground up in a new art style they were experimenting with. Clearly this means they are taking the long-term innovation of the series seriously.

A New 3D Mario Game: oh wait we really have only had 5 of those ever dating back to 1996 Each of which (minus 3D Land) brought something very unique to the table (counting the galaxy games as one) and hae been released at least a few years apart (cough Assassin's Creed/Call of Duty)

Mariokart: Ok yeah, step it up here a little bit Nintendo. If this game is supposed to be one that we keep coming back to over the course of the console cycle them give us new reasons to play it and make it feel more polished than Mariokart 7. I am curious to see what they can do with it in HD.

Smash Bros 4: cuz no other fighting game in the history of ever has had a sequel (Mortal Combat 9, Tekken 6, Soul Caliber V, Street Fighter (whatever number we are on now)

what happened to X, Fire Emblem x Shin Megami Tensei, Pikmin 3, Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed 4 (yeah I bashed the series earlier, but it sells so it works for this argument), Bayonetta 2, Injustice, Call of Duty 2013? Because you know there are so many more of those 5... YEAH ONLY 5!! old rehashed games compared to the 8 I just mentioned here

I don't think the PS4 will provide a more "complete" gaming experience than the Wii U, but a different one. Better for some people, worse for some, but not more complete.

The rehash argument is getting really tired.  Each of the big three is just as guilty as the others because people keep buying them.  I get sick of people constantly acting like Nintendo is any more guilty than MS or Sony at milking their franchises.  Nintendo fans rejoice because things could be way way worse....you could be Xbox fans and have next to no good exclusives.

Seriously, Nintendo's most popular IP's see one or two games per generation.  The most popular games for PS3 and 360 are Call of Duty and Assassins Creed, they come out yearly.  There has been more Call of Duty games this generation than all 3D Mario games combined going back to the N64 days.  Does Nintendo need to expand and develop new IP's?  Yes, of course they do, but you dont abandon your most successful IP's to do it.  Nintendo needs to work more closely with a wider variety of developers to develop more games.

Nintendo also needs to giving some old popular IP's new life.  Games like 1080 and Wave Race would be perfect games to partner with third parties to create.  Those are fairly straightforward games that dont need to be bogging down Nintendo's internal teams to create, but simply supervising a third party on the development would be more than sufficient.
