It could be avoided by putting a post benchmark on chat access.  requiring more than just 5 posts so people that actually contribute in some way to the forums before being allowed in chat is a must.  Also, some of the issues in chat were caused by people getting their feathers ruffled over harmless things.  This caused some people to get banned for no reason from chat, while people who were actually causing the drama were allowed to stay, simply because most mature people can ignore childish comments but childish people get upset at the smallest things.

Well, I was looking around the ACP and it appears that the chat wasn't an intentional shutdown, as our spam monitoring service license is down as well.

I haven't gotten a hold of Feldo yet, so I don't know if he knows if the license has expired or if the chat shutdown was intentional...

I suppose you can say this is now a bigger issue than just chat being down because we may be vulnerable to spambots again...

I figured that I might as well give my perspective on this big old chat thing as well, since was really involved with it at some points in it's life...

My story starts off much in the same way that Blake's does. Late April last year, I stumbled across these forums and decided, ehhh, what the hell, I'll give it a go. I've never been on a forums before, and so I really didn't know what any of the lingo was, or how to even use the place. Over time I figured things out, all except on thing. That obnoxious blinking chat icon at the top of the page that we used to have, telling me that I had 2 chat. What the hell was a chat? I dunno, but I was sure as hell going to find out. I made my 5 posts, and stumbled my way in there, only to find two guys just hanging out, talking games and hanging out. One of those members was Blake. I'll spare you the details for how my nights went from then on, as it was virtually identical to how Blake's went, but over time, Blake and I grew as friends, and some new guys got thrown into the mix. Over time, we had our group of regulars that would go in there, and have fun after a tiring day of just life... These people were slowly changing and evolving from people that sat behind an avatar, into real world people, and real world friends. We started swapping pictures, playing games together, watching movies, and hell even voice chatting with one another. These are things that friends do, not people who are just talking avatars with opinions. I have so many memories, and so much nostalgia for the glory days of the chat. So many jokes and moments that I'll remember for the rest of my life, with people that I'll remember for the rest of my life. Point and laugh if you must, but I know people on here better than I do in my average day to day life, and that speaks volumes about the kinda of people that used to be on this site...

While I have these memories of this chatroom, I think it was time to let it die. Late last year (somewhere around late November, early December) everything went to hell, and the people in that chat changed for the worse. Immaturity was up, and it just became a breeding ground of drama and problems. While it is hard saying goodbye to an old friend, I think it was time to take the old pal off life support. Even though it didn't die the heroes death it may have deserved (it being the hellhole that it has been), I hope that all of us are able to remember the fun inside jokes that were had in there, and the things that will truly make the connections on this site what they were today. Thank you Feld0, AMAC, and Mourn for letting us have this time in the chat that we love.

Oh so he wants the chat back.

I guess it is feedback.

I think you all know very well how much trouble you guys caused.

You don't deserve a chat right now. I'm sure feld0 isn't closed to the idea of adding it back in later if you can learn not to be such happinesss to everyone.

The people who caused trouble in the chat were banned in it's final days. I don't blame you for not knowing that though, since you've been banned from it for a while now as well. I think that explains why you hold such a grudge against it and the people who enjoy it. It seems you've even started a clan with other banned members to continually voice your displeasure about it every week or so on the statuses, the forums, etc.

Now me, I got banned from it in January. Instead of making statuses, instead of complaining, I left the forums (without making a thread/status saying so, mind you) until just recently. I came back, because I felt that I had enough time to cool off from my incident, and I could post on the forums without distraction. I sent Mourn a PM asking if I could be unbanned from the chat. If he had said no, I would still be posting here regardless, because this is one of the best Wii U sites out there. In fact, it is the best. I wouldn't be making veiled statuses clearly directed towards those who were enjoying the chat at the time, I wouldn't have made threads, I wouldn't have spammed Facebook pages, and I wouldn't have sent messages on Skype to anyone. I would have just said "Okay, fair enough, I respect your decision".

Instead, I did get unbanned, and had people tell me a couple days ago that I had actually become likable. You have no idea how great that made me feel. People who hated me told me that I was quickly becoming likable. In the past couple days I was talking music, games, and Pokemon challenges with Blake in there. Shame to see it go (hopefully just temporarily), but if it is gone for good, that won't affect my enjoyment of the forum. I will continue to make 0 statuses about it, I will continue to spam 0 Facebook pages, and I will continue to post 0 threads about it. What I will do, however, is continue posting on the forum, discussing the Wii U with what I consider to be friends, because that's really what we are all here for.

Not some chat, not blogs, not statuses or clans, but for the forums, the members, and the community.

I've just had some of the best experiences here. I'm usually a quiet person in my school, and I am slightly shy in real life, not to mention there's not too many people in my school that I'm friends with. But here, I don't feel shy, I really don't know why. I had a great time in chat, and it's just horrible that a bunch of trolls and overreactions killed a great chat. I'm not trying to sound sappy and say that my life will be forever changed. But this stinks, chat was practically part of my daily life. And I wish that it could be given a second chance, with any trolling/drama receiving an immediate week ban.

This isn't shocking or surprising Mournblade did say that Feld0 was going to remove the chatroom, he has said this multiple times.

I'll be man enough to admit, that I had responsibility in the "downfall" of the chat. I acted extremely childish and I trolled many members before I got banned.  I can admit that I did awful things in the chatroom, stuff I'm not proud, stuff that made me look like a Jackass I'm not the only who's responsible for the chatroom's demise though. You brought it on yourselves.

You were constantly warned and told to clean up your act, otherwise the chatroom would be removed. While I wasn't banned from the chat, I seen many things. I see users constantly spam their idiotic fads, I seen members talk about each other behind their backs, I seen members trying to stir up trouble (I was one of the main culprits), and I saw pretty much nobody follow the rules. Those who want the chat back, ask yourself this, Why?

The same exact thing will happen again, the cycle will repeat itself. Be happy that Mournblade didn't give you any sort of punishment for the stupidity that you did while the chatroom was active. We had fun times in the chat, we had amazing times. The chatroom was great for awhile, and then it got plagued for trolls of the likes of Hari and MiyamotosMom, I myself joined in trolling.Which I now realize was wrong, but I'm not  going mope about it. I actually made a change. I haven't trolled here or anyway else since April 7, 2013. Nothing everything lasts forever, and unfortunately, do to a few selected individuals and myself, the chat no longer exists.

You guys have to be willing to accept change, and this isn't me trying to get on the good side on Mournblade or trying to make myself seem innocent, I'm not. I'm simply speaking the truth. Be man enough to admit you made mistakes in the chatroom, embrace it. The people asking why the chatroom was removed are truly the ones making me laugh, you should know why.

Ultimately its up to Feld0 and Mournblade to decide on if the chat will ever return, you pleading to them about wanting it back doesn't help the cause. If you truly want to see the chatroom back, prove to them that you are truly ready to handle the responsibilities and guidelines that come with it.

----------?

I thought he was chatting last night about me and saturn after all the members ganged up on mournblade to get saturn banned a few days prior?

Not enough they have to gang up to get someone banned but they have to talk about people behind their backs because they are spineless weasels.

Right now, it looks like a few licenses have expired, chat was one of those.  Now, I cannot guarantee chat will return, but I will lock this thread until this issue is solved.
