My favorite Zelda. Great overworld(light & dark), awesome soundtrack, secrets galore, well designed dungeons, cool items/weapons, etc... It has a charm that will live forever.

I think its somewhere between modern Zelda and the original Zelda on the NES. The original Zelda had no direction whatsoever to the point where you could almost get lost in the first screen if you haven't seen the first 3 seconds online, while modern Zelda games hold your hand so tightly that you would think that there might be some sort of super glue holding it there or it just really likes you (Which isn't always a bad thing but it can be annoying). Zelda: A Link To The Past is at this middle ground, it gives you just enough direction to get to where you want to go without putting down train tracks to tell you where to go. Still, you may find yourself frequently lost on what the heck to do because you know where to go but just don't know how to get there (I'm looking at you 3rd dungeon), but that actually gives the overworld this weird puzzle-like feeling. It's great fun (even though I haven't beat it) but I recommend that you take my praise with a grain of salt because it might just be the fact that nostalgia glasses are attached to my face... With rubber cement.
