Recently on Twitter, a fan tweeted this to 64 year-old icon: "Mr. Itoi, please tell us a way to get you to make Mother 4." Itoi's response? "Muri" (無理) or "impossible".

That's not a surprise, especially considering how long it took to make Mother 3.

Meanwhile, in the West, fans just want Nintendo to release Mother 3, a game that came out in 2006 in Japan, and are thrilled that Earthbound (aka Mother 2) is coming to the North American Virtual Console.

I don't see where they can go with the seried: they already took care of Gaigas amd Pokey, so there is no where left to go. There is a fan-made Mother 4 though, if you really want to see more Mother.

I hated the first Mother but really enjoyed Mother 2. It wouldn't be a huge loss if Itoi didn't come up with a fourth installment for me though.

 

I still have to play the third game on a ROM patch. Although, I don't see why Nintendo would get fans all worked up with Ness and Lucas being in Smash Bros. and yet not produce any more installments.

They should just forget about the thought of Mother 4, this is why they canceled Earthbound 64 cause they feel like the series is done and over with.

Mother 4 doesn't need to be a follow up to 3.

 

But there's no way that you're going to tell me that we will never see Ness or Lucas in another game other than smash

 

Give mother 4 or New Earthbound a new story and new characters if need be.

Ness was supposed to be replaced with Lucas in Melee, but Mother 3 was delayed in Japan. Sakurai saw the response from putting Japan only characters in Melee with Marth amd Roy, so he decided to put Lucas in.

Lile I said earlier: I don't see room for a fourth entry that has anything to do with it. Since you haven't played Mother 3, I won't spoil what happened, but Pokey can't come back after what happened to him.

I don't know about you guys, but if I were 64 I wouldn't want to spend a long ass time developing a new Mother game.

The series is dead. I hate to say it, and I thought it wouldn't happen, but seems it just died with that simple word. Muri.
