This was a pretty old problem of mine that was fixed by moving the Wii U to a different TV. But I was just wondering, with the Wii U a few months old now, if anyone has a solution to this.

Note: When I say lag, I mean the pointer teleports all over the screen.

This is a pretty old video, but it shows that when my TV was on, my wii U pointer lagged like crazy. It wasn't like any interference caused it because I did a test where I hid behind my couch away from any interferences and used the sensor bar on my gamepad while the TV was on. It lagged a lot. Then I turned the TV off and went back behind the couch, and it was smooth and fine!

Annoyed with how much it lagged, I moved my Wii U to a different HDTV and it didn't lag at all. Even when the TV was on, it was completely smooth.

This is a pretty old problem, and I'm not sure if it was fixed by any patch, but too lazy to bring it downstairs, has anyone seen this problem happen? And also, why? I'll probably tell what kind of TV's I was using for both tests when I have the time.

It doesn't really have much to do with the TV. It's all in the sensor bar.

Was there a lightsource near the TV?

The wii remote works by sensing it's position using infra-red points as reference.

I'm sure. I did the same tests except hiding behind the couch where there were no infrared interferences. Same results. TV on = lag. TV off = no lag. Different TV = no lag with both TV on or off.

By the way, if you're wondering how I tested pointer lag for the TV being off, I just looked at the pointer on the gamepad. Watch the video you can see.

What the heck?! The Gamepad has a sensor?.... Well, that makes the TV 100% useless when playing games that aren't very confusing, what game are you playing in the video? Black ops 2? I wouldn't know, I don't play CoD :P

then your TV likly makes infrared. the wiimote simply recieves the infrared and transmits its position/location based on that.

so simplist fix i know of is use a different TV.

As I said before, I also did these tests hiding behind my couch in a corner where there was zero infrared light to interfere and I could not even see the tv.

The easiest way to see if you have interference is to go into settings and to wii remote sensitivity settings. You will see a black screen with grey/white dots for every light the remote picks up. If you see more than 2, the system will randomly choose which 2 belong to the sensor bar and jump.all over the place.

Lower sensitivity until only the sensor bar dots remain.
