(CNN) -- A new SARS-like virus recently found in humans is "a threat to the entire world," according to the director-general of the United Nations' World Health Organization.

The so-called novel coronavirus "is not a problem that any single affected country can keep to itself or manage all by itself," Margaret Chan said Monday in her closing remarks at the 66th World Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland.

The world needs to pull together its resources to properly tackle the virus which, Chan said, is her "greatest concern" at present.

"We understand too little about this virus when viewed against the magnitude of its potential threat," she said, and more information is needed "quickly" and "urgently."

"We do not know where the virus hides in nature. We do not know how people are getting infected. Until we answer these questions, we are empty-handed when it comes to prevention. These are alarm bells. And we must respond," she said.

Seems like the virus really isn't a problem as of now, but we should still be cautious.

Ooh like the swine and bird flu was a threat to the entire world and was suppose to kill us?

Media is just making people scared of stuff like this and it kills at the most a few hundred people and thats it. Nothing to get worried about.

Unless you (or I) end up being one of those few hundred people.

Not trying to be a smart you-know-what, it is a probability.

This is just scaremongering. I doubt this virus is as big of a threat as they claim.

The people who normally die are the ones who lived in bad countries with poor health care or had a terrible immune system.

Still could be serious, just bieng honest, it'll hit you like a tone of bricks if it affects you or your family, the world can be an ugly place sometime, few realise this though.

True. But remember the news spews out crap all the time and has lost their cred ages ago. It's become nearly as hard to trust as 4chan.
