Mario? Do you mean you're doing a project on Mario or something like that?
I've been back for just over a week now and I'm looking forward to the end of this year. From the work I've had so far, it looks like Highers are going to be very hard. Next year will hopefully be a lot easier. At least I don't have too many subjects to do this year.

...My school year has been going fine so far, but my geometry teacher really is into "discovery learning" so I failed a test because I had no idea what to do.
...
...You should really point out to your teacher that it's been proven that not everyone can learn the same way, and that swapping lectures for 'not telling them in the first place' isn't a good idea >.>
Of course, that's assuming 'Discovery learning' is what I think it is. Mind clarifying?

http://www.khanacademy.org/Basically throwing some un-filled in notes, and a packet to practice and saying "look it up on the internet or online textbook". To make things worse, she makes us do everything on the computers including schoolwork and tests. I failed a quiz because the vocab part of the quiz (you know, the matching several words to the definition thing) was worth 41 points and if I missed one it would make the whole question wrong.
If your teacher won't even explain things to you, then I suggest you use that site. It will explain things to you easily and effectively, at least for the topics he's uploaded. Really, the only way to teach your teacher that her method is flawed is to do the best in the class and then, after the final exam, show that you didn't even use her method once.
I wish you luck
EDIT: Forget to mention that I won't comment on your teacher's method because it's just... just... >.<

At my school we have a central topic and we will do lessons around said topic. This year we're doing Super Mario Brothers as ours :3. My teacher said it's good for art and literacy. The best part of the topic is he's bringing in an NES and the original Mario and we can play it on Fridays .Wait... school topic? Mario?
Can you elaborate on that, please?
Nope. We're doing a whole term of work on Mario.

I miss primary school sometimes. It's much more fun than secondary school and you don't have any exams to worry about. In year 6, my class did something similar to that with Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

HaHa-No, you must have the best elementary school ever. I feel really bad for you, because you're going to hate your first year of high school if you study Mario all year long.At my school we have a central topic and we will do lessons around said topic. Art and literacy? You're also lucky to have one of the seemingly only adults on the planet who recognize the artistic value of video games as your teacher.
Enjoy your school year. Really. You may never have a better one.

Unless you have my Computer Science or History teacher. Both know the educational value of games, and both had project that involved making a game. The CS one being a final project. Plus our history class took place in a computer lab, so he insisted that we play all of the games on the BBC website.HaHa-No, you must have the best elementary school ever. It's only this term. Next term I'm doing the olympics. Which isn't that bad, apart from the fact I hate most sports except swimming. And then Natural disasters which will be boring as hell.HaHa-No, you must have the best elementary school ever. There's a rumor going around the teacher plays Minecraft and is planning to teach his next year about it. My school isn't actually brilliant. My last teacher was ok, but had a really short temper. Our headmaster tries to preach to everybody in the school. One teacher says "Gonna" is a rude word... it's an odd school if I put it simply.
