hmm.. Nintendo Announces a White 32 gig Wii-U.  niice.

 

 

32 GB Wii U Premium White 

 

 

..a fast charging option on the way for the Wiimote,

and in Japan gamers will be able to add the accessory --

consisting of replacement battery / backplate and charging stand

starting July 13th for 4,200 yen ($41) , and 2,625 yen ($26) for the battery alone.

That should allow not only faster charging, but also longer battery life than Wii gamers have been used to.

I quoted you.  . Sounds possible, they have a lot of basic models to move so maybe that is why we see some discounts on it ie: Target for 239.99 .

There's a possibility that this isn't a hardware changeup at all like some of us may have been hoping. It's just a 32GB deluxe in white. The lower Japan price made me think it would be $300 but turns out that is how much the black is already selling for. Link: http://www.nintendol...heres_no_escape

The question now is whether the 8GB model will be phased out. Will Nintendo phase it out because 8GB is a tiny amount of storage and leaves an even tinier amount of free space?

Maybe this would work. I think they would be losing some money though like they originally did with the deluxe wii u bundle, but they got that money back from games.

Maybe Nintendo will keep taking losses until they profit on one model and just keep dropping the price ( unnecessary, i know) until they reach around 200 to 250 dollars. I think the price is fine now, because it is a next gen console with corners cut to ensure a good price ie- low internal storage for customer customization.

I think at the bare minimum they should've made room for a 2.5" drive in it.

I have a TB hard drive already on my basic. That doesn't mean I should get over it.

The White Premium set is ok but I prefer my Tech in Black anyway, about the GamePad battery though, Nintendo stated that the new one lasts between 5 - 8 hours? I'm sorry but it's not good enough, Nyko (I think that's what they are called) have said thier third party battery which comes out later this year lasts 10 - 12 hours and it's cheaper, guess I'll wait for that one then, sigh...

I already have a Wii U and it'd be impossible to move all of my stuff to a different one (unless it died and I went through Nintendo). That being said, there is a performance hit because the os uses the internal memory also, so to me it's better to just use a little usb drive on my current Wii U and pick up the Nyko battery when it comes out.

Me either. The internal memory is flash, same as the usb flash drive he is using.

I guess he was saying that because of all the read/write operations of the internal memory of the Wii U from the OS, that an external memory source hooked to it will be faster.

I can't find an exact quote, but it mostly involves downloading and initialization (like when loading the channel view at startup). I suppose it wouldn't be as bad during games.
