I ordered two Wii U Pro controllers from Amazon from a seller by the name of "Gamer Force". I had problems with both and was about to send the second one back when I decided to purchase another from Wal-mart first. Here is a side-by-side comparison of the two controllers and their boxes:

 

This is a side-by-side of the two. The real is on the left, fake on the right. Ad you can see, the nintendo logo on the counterfeit one is a bit grotesque.

 

Here is another. Real on right side. As you can see, the real one is much glossier, and the d-pad is smaller, and the lines on it are whiter.

Just thought I'd gice you guys a heads up. I didn't know that counterfeits of these controllers existed. Note that the two controllers do have the same model number.

 

The main problems with the counterfeits were, well their counterfeit for one, and the analog sticks on both controllers had problems.

You can always tell the fake ones because they are generally a fair bit cheaper on eBay.

never actually used a counterfeit controller, only third party but even third party controllers have bad analog sticks so I can't even imagine what the counterfeits are like

I love how they just photoshoped out the the word "official" on the nintendo seal.

i got a fake dualshock i was mad! But learned just buy it from a store not ebay

How fake is it? Does it feel completely different. It may be the factory made too many for Nintendo or Nintendo dropped the order quantity and were left with a lot of stock which they put on to the chinese market. There were fake Nintendo DS lite's sold in the UK a few years ago and the only way you could tell them apart was they had an inferior charging unit. I seem to remember they reckon the PCB's had to have come out of the factory supplying PCB's to Nintendo. Basically the chinese are not known for their honesty an when it comes to making extra money on the side they will do it plus the chinese are no fans of the japanese anyway.

I had picked up a knockoff gamecube controller for $5 off of ebay. It's not branded and the triggers and joysticks don't have as much resistance to them, but I've been pretty happy with it. I'd never get a wireless knockoff though..

If you buy from amazon, you have to buy from a licensed vendor, not some random person or else things like this will happen.

You should keep the fake though, put it in the real box, then bring it back to Walmart and say that it doesn't work so they'll give you a new free one! Lol jk, could u imagine getting away with that?!

Wow thank's for the heads up, when I was young you could see a fake a mile away, I'm not saying the build quality is any better but wow they are starting to look like the thing they ripped off, you really have to look close these days...
