All the the PS4 games look amazing. I know graphics are not everything but the closest thing we got was the 'X' trailer? When are we going to actually see what the Wii U is capable of

Mario Kart 8, Wonderful 101, Bayonnetta 2, X and even Donkey Kong showed some impressive graphics. Remember the stream compressed the graphics.

Hopefully we will see more in the coming weeks.

Oh and Super Smash. How could I forget that?

I agree- and I've been in general impressed with the games (yes, graphics too) that I own- sonic transformed, Mario bros., zen pinball, nano assault, trine, monster hunter, batman armored edition..... Madden was a little choppy but supposedly it was rushed for the release- and at that, I still love the game.

I thought MK8, Donkey Kong, Smash and the new 3D Mario were beautiful. The lighting effects were great. You could never tell that they hadn't made HD games before.

hahahaha this! so much this!

What kind of stupid question is that?

X killed E3.  Was the best looking game there.  even better than MS and Sony games.

Mario looks absolutely amazing with perfectly rounded geometry, perfect lighting and effects.

The one game that was not shown that would have been killer was Metroid.

Think of X but as an FPS... excuse me... FPA game.

People were hyped for Retro.

Not for donkey Kong. LOL

That was the problem.

The only issue was the number of great looking games.  there is X, Mario, and possibly Mario Kart to a lesser extent.

Killer Instinct looks like a last gen game unfortunately and Call of Duty should be on wii U. It can obviously handle the game.

It is obvious from what was shown today that Nintendo can hold its own with Sony and MS in the graphics arena.

the Next gen is here. And it's on wii U. Yes. I'm talking about graphics.

After watching the bayonetta 2 trailer, and looking at screens from 1 again....

It makes the first one look like crap.

Bayonetta-2_2013_06-11-13_008.jpg

This scene reminded me of the highway scene in bayo 1, Except in the vid there are way more enemies, better more detailed enemies, AND AN ENTIRE CITY THEY ARE DRIVING THROUGH. Also you know, on the fighter jet too.

looking back at bayo1....

There is literally nothing in the background. In the ps360 game. You can never see far, and what little background there is, is blocky and with low res textures. Its a pretty huge difference.

Let me put it this way, I was impressed by Nintendo games such as Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros etc etc, I wasn't very impressed with the Ps4 one, the games that weren't tech demos or CG trailers looked... eh.

Donkey Kongs fur looked real, that was actually impressive. Lots of details and you tend to notice other things watching the trailers over and over.

One thing I like about Nintendo is they are pretty clear about whats in game (gameplay) or cut scenes etc.

Yeah, if any one wants to see all the details they missed watching the live stream (and we missed a lot thanks to lossy compression) Just watch the trailers from the wii u eshop on high quality.

There is no such thing as "looking Next Gen" The term next gen simply describes the next generation of video game consoles. You could have a 2D fighter no better in graphics than a NES game and it could still be considered a next Gen game simply because its on one of the 8th generation consoles.

With characters in Mario, Mario kart, and donkey kong looking nearly exactly like their cgi promotions, I don't see how anyone can be anything but blown away. And the donkey kong fur is a thing of beauty. Not to mention Nintendo seems to have some lighting and shading techniques down pat. It gives a surreal look to their games.

And once again... x just stole E3 in terms of pure visual smack down.

What I'm wondering is... Why the hyp for ps4 and that other machine? I think they are surprised as well. And no wonder EA wants to play on wii u now. That's where next gen gaming will shine.

I just looked up the old donkey kong cgi box art for n64. The wii u in-game version looks way better.

I'm very impressed by what Nintendo has revealed.

Now I'm waiting for hints of Metroid.

That's going to be insane. Again.

Monolith's 'X' game definitely did the business in restoring some faith in the wii u hardware although I don't think anyone has been arguing against the wii u graphically as the gpu is over 50% more powerful compared to xbox 360 (220 gflops vs 350 gflops). The issue with wii u has always been the cpu performance and this will be shown by how complex monolith's game engine is with regard physics, AI, weather effects, cpu intensive graphic effects etc, number of characters on screen. Will you be able to interact with monolith's game world. Knock over boulders and watch them roll down, have complex battles with creatures etc. Xenoblade chronicles was a fairly primitive engine in how you could interact with the environment. So it will be interesting to see how many resources monolith have left to enhance the environment over the wii game.

Shovel Knight is an example of this :) even if it rely is 32bit or something if I remember correctly

I think X and Mario Kart really showed off what Wiiu can do but I wouldn't say that it blew Sony or Microsofts games out of the water. I see a game like Infamous or Killzone and they look incredible heck even Titan Fall looked great.
