Now that I look at it more, it's definitely Skyward Sword: it just looks different to match the style of Smash Bros. It's like how Toon Link looked more realistic in Brawl.

I still don't like the look of Links hair in Smash Bro's but im up for any art style that Nintendo chooses.

Just going a whim here.

Before Skyward Sword was finalised, the team behind it would've been tinkering with a lot of different designs as to how to make the game. It's possible that this particular Link was put forward, following the art style of Twilight Princess, before they developed they art style they had for Skyward Sword. Basically, this is the Link Skyward Sword would've received should they have pursued the same style.

Of course, I have no evidence, just thinking out aloud some more over here.

Placeholder Link.

Getting the animations down, having a representative model, etc.

but not final Link in terms of Zelda next gen.

I just really really want the new Link to look like this. He looks so cool. I loved SS, but this Link... I need this. I tear up everytime I think of the next Zelda game not looking like this (or the 2011 trailer)

Well, am I the only one who noticed that there's a quite noticeable resemblance between the 2011 tech demo Link and SSB's one? I agree with OP, I think that it's how Link is gonna look like in future Zeldas. It's not confirmed, it's not sure, but the chances are there. Anyway, Link's design cannot change all that much (talking about adult Link), that's why I think it's highly likely that we'll see this design for the next game, or at least something really close to it.
