Paula Deen's goose has been cooked at the Food Network.  Officials tell TMZ they are not renewing her contract, which expires at the end of this month.

Paula apparently was done in for her comments during a deposition in a civil lawsuit, in which she freely admitted to using the N-word in the past.

Deen issued an apology this morning that bordered on ridiculous -- it was heavily edited and frankly insincere.

She issued a second apology shortly before the Food Network said it would not renew her contract.

Rightfully deserved, I'm glad justice was properly handed out.

Good. Foul mouth racial slurs should not be tolerated and I'm glad that Food Network didn't just let her stay because of the popularity of her show.

I could care less, although I love her. She was always one of my favorites ever since I started watching the channel religiously years ago. I am glad they did something about it because these kinds of things are not good and need to be controlled.

I understand where she was coming from where she said that in her time it was alright, but it's a completely different world than then and honestly even that is a stretch seeing as she has been living through all this time and changes so you would think she would be already conditioned to not be saying things like that.

Wait, she said it to someone in the current day? The source is vague. She's connected to a "racist/sexist" thing in her restaurant... But was it her who's said the words or another worker? I mean, the offended worker is female, I can't see sexism from her.

Anyways, it's truly not a big deal that she's said them in the past. I know someone from Texas, who's grandmother just can't comprehend that "the n word" is a racial slur. She thinks it's a correct term. And if it's current day.., It's not bad unless she's actually racist or using it to address another person. Many people tell "racist jokes" without being racist, and blacks and other ghetto people use it amongst themselves. I hear it everyday because I live in a particularly ghetto area of New York.  I dunno, it's hard to take this seriously, especially with TMZ as a source. Of course if she was actually being racist, she should be fired, but if it was a slip up, seems a bit harsh. I mean, I don't get offended every time a heterosexual says "dyke" or tells gay jokes lol.

I live in the Bronx so I hear that word all the time. There is a difference in how it is used though and even a pronunciation difference too. *igga is the cool friendly or that guy sort of term. And *igger is the one that is a racial slur. It depends on what way she meant it when said. From what I have heard she says it in a way that is more towards the racist side.

Lol had to edit because it put those words as awesome and nice. Hahaha

Yeah, it's true it depends on how it was said. If she really was being racist then I understand being fired from Food Network. I just hope they don't get someone really corny to take her place. I pretty much only bother watching it nowadays for Good Eats.

Same here Good Eats has always been my favorite show, and anything Giada is in as well.

In the law suit lawyers asked her if she ever used the N-word. She stated, "I used it once when a *igga put a gun to my head and asked for the money in my register (this happened when she was working at a bank before she became a celebrity). The lawyers asked her if she ever used the N-word again. She stated, "It's been so long, I can't remember, I probably have".

Well I think we can all sympathise with a person having a gun to their head having some not nice thoughts about the other person. No one's perfect. What really matters in the end is if she's actually used it in a racist setting in the workplace. I don't doubt that a woman living in the south has used the word a couple of times since then, but I don't really care what thoughts she has in her head if she treats everyone with respect regardless. Everyone judges other people for stupid superficial reasons, whether it's sex, race, or otherwise but the only thing we can do is TRY to treat everyone equally anyways. It's what ultimately makes you a good person.

She just made a mistake, they should have just forgave her and left it at that. I think it was unnecessary to fire her over one mistake. Yes, what she said was wrong but it's not as bad as the media is making it to believe.
