It's what they said. That's what they assume you to be.

Especially you voice your opinion when they try to get you to give them money for less than stellar effort.

http://www.ign.com/a...game-developers

They think you are "threatening" them. Lol

Apparently they just want you to be happy with whatever crumbs fall from their table and not have an opinion or voice on the matter.

Just thought you'd like to know how they think of you.

The sad part is, Activision hasn't even been the target of much criticism.

I guess t hey want to be the next EA in terms of public opinion...

No doubt some people went overboard with their comments to activision developers, but Activision let more of their corporate mindset be revealed then they realize.

Kind of shocked that their "community manager" (pr person) would be so foolish. Surprised if they still have their job tomorrow.

Kind of fail to see how you could argue with his comments...? Unless you yourself are a whiny a-hole and are unaware??? O_O

The man nerf'd over powered weapons and gets told he's a worthless PoS that needs to die...

There is a difference between voicing your opinion and being a whiny a-hole... and the fact is he is right, whiny a-holes tend to be the most vocal; therefore they are the face of the gaming community to the rest of the world

:P

Kind of fail to see how the calling of gamers "whiny a holes" is something to be ok with.

Like I said, the comments made to him were out of line. But so is the response. Especially when they give indication that they view gamers like that and that this "whining" simply augments their case for that already-held view.

You pretty much missed that little detail. Which is in fact the entire reason I posted it.

I'm sure many would miss it as well when most don't see subtle implications.

Everything he is saying is reasonable, the CoD fanboy base on the Internet are whiny 12 year olds, I'm not surprised they would make threats. He is right thy those immature kids give te entire gaming community a bad name. He isn't calling me a whiny Ahole, he is calling the people who threaten and whine and scream all over the Internet, while playing an loving the game they pretend to hate. No one should have to be threatened because they are doing their job. I think you are being entirely unreasonable.

Well, gamers ARE a bunch of whiny a-holes. If you don't like Activision games, don't buy Activision games and buy something you DO want instead of complaining about game companies.

Is that such a hard concept to understand?

No they didnt. They called a section of their call of duty drones whiny little aholes, and it was well deserved too.

Death threats and garbage email bombing and other forms of harrassment are unacceptable period. ESPECIALLY over something as trivial as updating game balancing.

On the other hand. What did you expect Activision? You spent years creating games to specifically appeal to, promote, and train this specific personality type. What other kind of person would keep buying the same crap over and over and over again? Only those whiny little a$$holes.

You created your monster, Dr. Frankenstein. Now you must deal with it.

I don't see what's wrong Amrich's comment. All Vonderhaar did was nerf some weapons in a video game, and he got death threats for it. Plus, he's not even calling all gamers whiny a**holes. Just the ones like the people sending death threats for something that's not even worth talking about.

Mostly winny QS's i saw the notes, support the patch. Cod 11 year olds whine to much, so support activision here. Now the complaints of activision making a ocerall bad game make sence.

Actually they did.

“…this is why gamers are assumed to be immature, whiny a***s.”

In other words, they at Activision assume gamers (period. Not a section of them) are this foul word.

They justifiy this opinion based on the actions of a few.

But it shows a prevailing sentiment.

Kind of like how Microsoft views all "users" as "basically stupid."

And we caught a glimpse of that at E3 until "bascially stupid users" told them what was up.

Activision is revealing a prevailing mentality here.

But the vocal few are what set them off.

Even if it was somewhat deserved (the rant, not the wording used by the gamers.  Or activision for that matter. A big corporation talking like that? for shame.)

You didnt read the quote then.

Activision assumes gamers to be "..."

This latest is simply justification for that mentality.

The only thing that I really notices is that he is pratically SHOCKED at the response he got, which sounds like standard fare. You'd think a company would be a bit more aware of what their customers want and act like.

No, it is like saying, "People that get intoxicated and become obnoxious at sports games is what gives drinkers at sports games the reputation of being obnoxious". You know, the vocal minority ruins it for the majority that could care less.

Except. You don't say "sports fans"

You made an important distinction that Activision didn't. You labeled them drinkers. Which would be that distinction.

Activision assumed gamers, which by definition simply play games- as these foul words. Instead they should have left that out and focused on the extreme few who went way out of line- without linking it to "gamers" as a whole. That was quite revealing.

But I'll give them some slack since they just spent 8 billion buying themselves back from vivendi.

That's a lot of risk involved. And a lot of stress. They don't need ea levels of hate when they need game sales now more than ever.

Hopefully we don't hear any more of this kind of crap though.

Especially since call of duty ghosts is confirmed for Wii u now.

Interesting that the Wii u version is only official AFTER they move on from vivendi...

Actually, Amrich DID, make that distinction. Heres the real WHOLE quote.

'....often gets told he should die in a
fire or kill himself or is a horrible person. If
anybody thinks for a second that this is okay,
it is not. But if the loudest voices in the Call of
Duty 'community' act like an angry mob
instead, guess how the entire world views Call
of Duty? Now consider that these Internet
Tough Guy rants and demands are not unique
to COD, but exist everywhere, in many
gaming communities. This is why the world
often does not take gaming seriously; this is
why gamers are assumed to be immature,
whiny a**holes. Because the immature,
whiny a**holes are louder.

oneofswords.com/2013/07/editorial-stop-threatening-game-developers/

He SPECIFICALLY differentiates the 'immature whiny a**holes' from everyone else, then states the problem is they are so loud, they overshadow the rest of us, which is why people assume all gamers are like that.

Fantastic job proving him right by the way.
