Incase you don't know, the GC controller adapter for Wii U lets you play Wii U games with the Nintendo Gamecube controller, however, it is third party and only works if the game has support for Classic Controller pro and Wii remote. Pikmin 3 does have both these controller schemes listed on the back of the box. My problem is, when I connect the adapter to Wii Mote and GC controller while playing Pikmin 3, the only part of the Gamecube controller that works is to bring up the HOME Menu (Hold the start button on the gamecube controller for a couple seconds) I cannot control the character in the game using the gamecube controller despite the fact that the box says that it supports both the Wii remote and Classic Controller pro. I have a theory as to why this isn't working, so I'll state it here and if any of you have any other ideas as to why this cannot be working then please let me know in replies.

Anyway, my theory is that I've noticed that the classic controller pro has a sync button much like the Wii Remote does, so this may mean that all future Wii U games are shying away from connecting the Classic Controller pro to the Wii Remote and instead being able to use the Classic Controller pro wirelessy via a sync button, if that was the case, all future released Wii U games would be optimized for the Classic Controller pro's sync feature. This would explain why my Gamecube controller isn't being able to control the character on screen when I connect the GC Wii U adapter into the Wii Remote and then plug the Gamecube controller into the other end. Sounds like a plausible theory, right? Anyway, yeah, that's my theory. Any help would be appreciated and thank you!

This is just a picture of the Adapter that I bought and am referencing in this post, just to clear things up, this is it.

Does it still function as GC controller like input for Wii games that support GC controller? Or does it map the buttons to a classic controller?

It would map to classic controller, because there's no gamecube hardware in the wii u.

I think the problem may be the fact pikmin 3 doesnt allow negligent simultaneous connections between different control schemes the same way as other games, which is what that controller banks on. Its actively coded to accept multiple connections, and switch between them on the fly, and have certain different functions for connected 'secondary' controllers.

I may be totally wrong here, but doesn't the GC adapter map to the original Wii's Classic Controller, not the Wii U Pro Controller? Again, I could be totally wrong, but if not, then that would be the problem, as Pikmin 3 supports the Pro Controller, not the Classic Controller. I dunno. :P

Pikmin 3 doesn't support the classic controller or wii mote. It only does the Gamepad, wii u pro, and wii mote + nunchuck. I assume your adapter was simply mapping the classic controller's buttons and it probably doesn't pick up the wii mote because a nunchuck needs to be attached.

It wont work being its not a wii u controller.

The pikmin case even tells you the controllers and its wii mote, gamepad or wii u pro controller only.

No gamecube or classic wii u controlls will work.

Um, doesn't it only support Wii remote + Nunchuck? Not a classic controller accessory?

That'd be awesome if Nintendo made a official GC Wii U controller for Smash Bros 4
