If it's releasing at $500 U.S. then I'm going to be worried. The Australian price would be around $600 at the minimum which is not a friendly price at all.

You always get your Nintendo fans who are hoping for amazing performance from new Nintendo consoles and on the face of it, its realistic to expect the wii U to be more powerful than 360/PS3 because of the wii U being much later but both of those consoles were brought to market making a huge loss and financially neither have been successful...
Personally I think the new Xbox and PS4/Orbis won't be as ambitious as many are hoping for either. So we may find that despite the wii U not being as powerful as we hoped it still won't be that far behind Orbis and PS4 which may end up being only 2-5x as powerful as the earlier generations. The xbox 360 is at least 10x as powerful as the original xbox overall and I don't think we are going to get that difference this time around. I think its all about launching at a competitive price point. I personally think this is the sane thing to do. I went through about 7 faulty 360s as I was an early adopter and it was a complete farce. My 60GB PS2 compatible PS3 has never gone wrong but many have reported problems. This time around it seems like consoles will use mature technology that will hopefully be robust and reliable which I'm quite happy about.

Also lets not forget the wii U will have advantages not directly understood on analysis of the specification to do with modern manufacturing processes. If the gpu, gpu memory, cpu, cpu cache and a few other functions are all integrated onto one large i.c. then the wii U will have incredibly low latency and huge memory bandwidth which will enable the console to be pushed beyond what you expect for the hardware and even just fitting 768M or 1GB of memory gives it clear advantages over 360 and PS3. Also the wii U has a high density optical drive which the 360 hasn't.

this is just a perfectly-phrased analysis... thanks for this

u know why they have this losses? Not because they didnt sold!!! Just because they are rookies and they rushed so much! They gave us an over-fried meat, instead of a console. Also they have so much expectations from the developers, remember? The huge fights over exclusives and thefts over exclusives, between sony and microsoft!! Nintendo stayed asaid this time.. All the earnings plus more, spoiled to service and postage fees HAHAHA... The big earners from microsoft ans sony, are DHL and other fast carrier companies.. And the past will follow them into their new consoles, instead of being caucus and more legit this time (user friendly), they hardened more their policies and I believe xbox720 is going to be this generations victim.. Sony will be more careful.. I bet (I mean, I speculate that xbox720 is going to sell 50% of the total xbox360 sales less and maybe more, because of forcing their customers, NOT ONLY pay fees to play online, but they will not be able to play offline either)!!! Think about it..

so the analysis is true-false.. As for wii U, its not just realistic, if wii U is equal or worse, is going to be sci-fi

I honestly believe that Wii U is going to sell for $350 USD. And if rumors are true and they are willing to take a loss per unit sold, then maybe $300-320 USD.

Honestly, I would pay 400-500$ for a system that is built like a BEAST. I would honestly rather have that then have a 300$ system thats just ehh.....the controller is cool but thats it. I am willing to pay more

Sigh, here is the heart of the problem my friends. The wii u is essentially a rehashed wii with added gimmicks to get you to buy. Whatever price they charge will probably be too much. I've been a Nintendo fan all of my life and I've gotten every major console, but I'm going to call abandon ship on this one. I can't afford to spend 250-300 dollars on a bunch of bells and whistles. In my opinion, I think that Nintendo needs to get its mind back on track and stop producing the add ons and rehashes. They could relearn a thing or two from Sony. Why is the PS3 still so popular while the wii is slowing? Answer: Sony kept it simple.

I still think the system will be 350 dollars in the USA.

Why do you think it is a rehased Wii.

So, one-post wonder-boy, I have some words for you. There are so many varying degrees of wrong to what you're saying here. You really cannot make assumptions when you clearly know so little. No one gives a rats if you've been a Nintendo fan all your life, it doesn't inherit you the financial proficiency to state what affair the Wii U should or shouldn't be. If you're opting out of the market Nintendo is aiming at then fair play, but no one knows for sure the Nintendo game-plan exactly yet.

However, from what I have been reading recently, things don't look very promising and if what I fear becomes reality, it will most definitely will not be a launch purchase, let alone a launch window purchase, if at all for some time. If it turns out to be a product that is too expensive to the majority of people Wii U is marketed at, then it really will be curtains.

The only real concerns are whether expectations are met/surpassed/severed in regard to the hardware of the Wii U, and how well Nintendo manage their strategy for digital distributions, services, and connectivity. That is where the real value is. We know the in-house games and third party support are hopeful to say the least, and devs have positive things to say about the console. Speaking of which, please please explain how Sony have kept things simple. My PS3 purchase had only recently become of its true value because of how low-priced and accessible it is now, and even I am finding it hard to make much use of it. It won't make its 10 year life cycle with hardly any merit at all...some speculation that could actually be true here  The Wii 5-6 year life cycle though however, very successful.

I expect a similar, but much improved strategy for Wii U, driving sales further than it's fan-base and into the more dedicated gaming market where some real judgement will suffice.

1. Your first post is like this, you're probably not even going to stick around to read my reply.
2. PS3 sold nothing in the first three years, so of course it's gaining popularity. I think you're just baiting, because you can't believe Sony did better than Microsoft with the "hardcore" this generation.
3. Rehashed as in software featuring iconic game characters we've enjoyed for over 30 years? Sure, any other use of the word "rehash" is simply wrong.
4. It's a new console, 300 is pretty much where new consoles usually come in at, the Wii wasn't as technically advanced, so it was cheaper, the PS3 was a trojan box for blu-ray, and the stupid cell chip, so it was more expensive.

1. Congratulations. You've found out how companies get things to sell. By that logic, the PS3 is a rehashed PS2 with added gimmicks to get you to buy.
2. If the Walmart price of $350 is to be believed, I'd say that's a perfect price. Certainly better than $599 US Dollars.
3. I'm George Lucas and Star Wars Episode 7 is coming out tomorrow. Saying something like that doesn't make it true. In fact, seeing as this is your first and only post makes me severely doubt your authenticity in this matter.
4. So $300 for more of the same is fine (PS3) but $350 for something that's rather innovative in the game industry isn't? sarcasm Makes sense. endsarcasm
5. By rehashes, you mean more games in a series people happen to love? By add-ons, I also assume you mean the Wiimote Plus which actually made things better.
6. To not take chances and give more blah in each system design? No thanks. If you haven't noticed, with the current financial position that Sony is in, Sony could learn a few things from Nintendo. -_-
7. Why is the PS3 so popular now? It couldn't be because it's FINALLY at a decent price and getting more games while the Wii hasn't had alot of new games RECENTLY, could it?

All in all, your post is pretty full of derp. o_o

They seem to be "learning" quite a bit from Nintendo, if you take their most recent announcements. :P

WiiMove?
That was ages ago, I meant LBP Kart.

But to be fair on LBP Kart, they're trying some new things, and bringing their own ideas out, and it looks pretty good.
