Originality is very hard to argue since most concepts have been done before like a gears of war, god of war or a halo but they do it in their own way similar to how each Zelda after OOT is similar yet different. That's why I feel their very fresh and many many games copy them that's why in hindsight they look like most games on the market but I feel they do what they do best. I agree with you all that Nintendo does unique games in the way that no one makes films like the 50s which in many ways might be great, but I just can't help but say it feels like the 90s.

Gears of war is based off of re4 and kill switch, epic has flat out stated they aped it, and god of war was a higher production value version of Rygar with boobies and disembowelments, which was also directly mentioned by ssm.

Maybe, if its your first time experiencing what they do, I can see how you have your viewpoint.

But sooner or later you are going to inevitably wander out of that bubble.

I did play RE4 (which just so happens to be my second favorite game) and KillSwitch and yes it did influence Gears heavily. Like I said it's hard to argue originality but I feel Gears grabed what it grabbed and made it better. Similar to Last of Us used many horror elements but managed to make it feel fresh. That's what Nintendo is missing for me their games tend to feel like a nostalgia trip which sometimes it's great and sometimes it's not. I never feel like its new or refined(which most cases will be). I could go on and on, on how Nintendo has not kept up with the times but it wouldn't matter since it just be a matter of opinion.

On a side note I've never played Ryger and it definitely looks like GOW without the cool dialogue lol. Also my bubble is just fine : )

Nintendo doesnt 'keep up with the times', because Nintendo creates them.

Sooner or later you will stop thinking miniscule tweaks, changes, and coats of paint are huge changes, and your relative narrow breadth of gaming experience will widen. Its inevitable. Happens to everyone sooner or later

There is a reason why certain Nintendo games are still selling for 90 bucks or more, while all the gears and gow's can be found for 9 bucks at gamestop, and brand new 60 dollar Ps360 games lose their value within a month.

On an unrelated note, have you tried the last of us's reversable cover art? Sharp stuff. I love reversable covers.

Its not about open or close minded, its about experience as it relates to time.

Whatever your current breadth of experience is right now, unless you get amnesia, will inevitably be narrower than future you who has played more games.

Even if you never decide to look to the past to see how it relates to the experiences you have stated. Your present will become the past. And the things you think are so fresh right now... You will be getting tired of.

People tend to follow the opinions of others as it seems normal to do so, as the old saying goes "don't judge a book by it's cover" tends to go amiss in these times. The appeal for video-games have changed massively in the past 30 years, while the average gamer age is somewhere in the 30's it's impossible to ignore the huge child/teen gamer base. People want to be dazzled and are way to quick to move onto the next best thing, when i was a kid I can deny the appeal Call Of Duty had to me. Sure i loved my classic Nintendo shenanigans but you felt such a strange sense of fun stepping in the shoes of a game intended for an older user base, a sense of maturity and responsibility. Thats just how i experienced it but yeah, gamers these days are so quick to throw out a game they really couldn't care less about the gameplay, that's why many go for the same old FPS/Racer/Sport simulator.

I think people put down the Wii U because they either have to use the bathroom, go to school, or go to work. :D

NO, you do not put down your Wii U to go to the bathroom: you take it with you, remember? That's part of its charm

1. Nintendo gained that reputation with Wii
2. Nothing good is currently happening for it, however the momentum is slowly building each month with the release of a new game

at my highschool I ask people about that stuff and they all say: Oh the graphics suck! Even though they are cleaarly the best out there unless you have the best pc ever.

What you have to realize is that most of the kids in your high school are idiots. I first started using forums in high school because I couldn't have an intelligent conversation with anyone besides my teachers and a few other kids. It's best to just not ask kids your age about anything that requires knowledge and understanding because you'll get stupid answers.

THIS SO MUCH THIS! the majority of kids/teenagers are incredibly stupid its almost impossible to have an intelligent conversion with them.

They put it down because not a lot of great games have came out in the past for nintendo.

The only great nintendo games are the ones made by nintendo or nintendo only.

but same thing if you look at the ds. Most people fuss because the psp version look 10times better and the screen was bigger so they gave up on the ds.

Then same thing with the wii. the graphic weren't better then the ps3 and all the ports where half ass done.

So nintendo has gotten the rep for being a kid system. And this has follow onto the wii u.

Now me i like the wii u its what the wii should of been. But its pretty great we just need more games not and since the ps4 and x1 are coming out. Nintendo needs to step up and get devs making great games and porting all the new games to the wii u also(without cutting out stuff).

Age doesn't really matter about that, idiots will exist no matter the age.
Moogle said herself that she found several people to converse with at school, some of them children like herself.
