Lets just hope that developers will actually take time to make their games look good on the WiiU rather than a washed out version of the others.

Based on what we have seen in the pipeline for wii U, I am betting those games looks just as great on Wii U.

Using the same assets, but just being managed differently from an engine designed specifically for Wii U.  No company has to modify their own engine or have someone port it.  There will already be a CryEngine that is Wii U specific. the wireframing, the painting, the scripting, etc... all will work the same to the developer.  The Wii U compiling goes on "behind the scenes." They can simply bring their assets to Cry U (LOL) and get to work.

did they ever release sniper 2 ?

They ported a half-baked version without any online multiplayer for the Wii U and called it the "definite" version.

though we all know 3rd parties will still plug their ears and go "LALALALALALALALALALALALA!" because having to face the truth and be adults is too much for them.

Not Sniper Elite V2, but Sniper Ghost Warrior 2, that was developed on CryEngine tech.

I don't remember that coming out, but I heard the game wasn't that great anyway.

Level of Detail generation.

Instead of you having to create a few different versions of the same assets with various levels of detail depending on those assets being further away or closer to the camera.

In other words, if its closer to the camera, the high LOD model is shown in order to present the best visual fidelity. But that sane asset being far from the camera uses a much lower LOD since you can't tell much difference anyway. This frees up the hardware to render much more background scenery, increase foreground fidelity, etc.

Normally, you have to build a low LOD model and a high LOD model. If you want to be a perfectionist, you can add in-between models as well.

With automatic LOD generation, you don't have to do that. The engine calculates the best values automatically and gradually. This is great due to the extra work it removes from your schedule. But also because it is smoother. No sudden "what was that?" Changes as a new LOD asset replace the previous.

I KNOW RIGHT! Man I HATE when that happens, two lod models that just dont match, so jarring when they change.

Good riddance to that I say.

Their automated lod tool is amazing.

This alone will cut millions of millions of dollars off of budgets, and fix one of my biggest gripes.

You know who would really benefit from this auto LOD gen tool? Monolith Soft.

Just imagine the amount of work saved and the improved smoothness X would benefit from this. This way, Monolith could cater even more resources to content creation.

And a lot of time could also be saved thanks to the CryEngine's dynamic weather feature. It really seems like a good fit with X.

The game will probably still be amazing, but I wonder what it would look like if it were made on this new engine..

If you try to fail and succeed, which have you done?

Considering X is on a proprietary engine that they made specifically for this game, I wouldn't be surprised if those features were already part of the engine. We know the game has dynamic weather, and the level of detail holds up extremely well when you get close to it.

Everybody should utilize that kind of generated lod.

But, i dont know if the weather gen is well suited to X, as X seems to be following in the foot steps of xenoblade with fantasy weather like ether showers, rather than earthly weather scenarios.
