EA COO Peter Moore has stated at Gamescom 2013 last week, "We don't ship a game at EA that is offline." Speaking to Engadget, he said, "It just doesn't happen," and emphasized "we don't deliver offline experiences."

SimCity's always-online restrictions earlier this year caused controversy following a faulty launch -- so much so that a survey questioned users about the appeal of an offline mode. That is all but off the table, it seems. Moore elaborated that EA's biggest franchises -- such as Titanfall, Battlefield, and FIFA -- relied rather heavily on their online components. That said, EA's The Sims 4 will include an offline single-player experience -- while Battlefield and FIFA, of course, retain their campaign and career -- so the future isn't necessarily always online.

Things are changing at EA, however.

Speaking about FIFA and Battlefield, Moore expressed that both franchises "have free-to-play options depending on where you are in the world.... The ability for you to be able to interact with those franchises on a free-to-play basis has got to be part and parcel to every major franchise we do now." He continued to say this is "very important to Electronic Arts" regardless of "how much money you've got in your wallet and where you are in the world."

Just when you thought they would change, they always have to find a way to make other people's blood boil.

Look on the bright side, maybe they'll develop an innovative multiplayer singleplayer mode.

But we won't get either.

Are they trying to get the Golden Poo award again? If they keep it up with annoying microtransactions they will. It really is stupid when you buy a full $60 game and have to spend $20 or $30 more to unlock the day one DLC!

"EA no longer working"

At least they are no longer working to be a quality company.

EA is destined to become the worst company in America.  They should change their company name to something else because what they are doing is certainly not art.

Well, I'l really glad EA isn't making NASCAR games anymore, although I haven't really tried any new NASCAR game since NASCAR unleashed. I do wish that The Sims and Sim City would find a new publisher, though.

What's the big deal?
All they're saying is they're going to have multiplayer in every one of their games, which they've been doing for about 10 years.

EA is really making great game developers crash right into the ground, companies such as DICE and Bioware deserve so much better. Like common, BF4 isn't even released yet and they have dedicated most of their time for their day 1 DLC. It's sad big coperations think they can just release a half finished game at full price and expect us to pay another $30-$40, it's insane. All though i would have to say IMO, Activision does a pretty good job with their DLC, each pack feels solid and it's clear to see a lot of time and thought has been put into each pack, there will be plenty of people that won't agree with me but thats just how i see it.
