You doubt it when Sakurai has already said that, due to limitations, not all characters from the past will return?
As for the last part... Um... Reggie is not a video game character. I can not think of any video game character that would be less "important" than Reggie in regards to having a chance of being playable in SSB.
There are far too many great unused characters for a spot to be hogged up due to a stupid overdone internet meme. For goodness sake, Reggie isn't even a video game character. I really hope this is just a joke, but y'all are acting too serious about actually wanting this.

I think it's actually a confirmation for Miis. Reggie will show his Mii as a a character in SSB4 and then announce Miis as a playable character. It would also prove that leak true as well.
