This thing just seems like it will flop. Maybe 100% wrong but seems to be a device to solve a problem that never existed. PC gamers have PC's and like to upgrade and non PC gamers buy a console. Also I hear it cost around 1400$. This just seems like the modern day 3D0. License the hardware out,super expensive and tries to solve problems that do not exist.
If this was some sort of issue,it's nothing spending 4$ on a HDMI cable can't solve.

Some will be budget, some will be higher end.
The beauty of steam is that the games scale from $400 laptops to really expensive powerhouses.
I think I'll like Alienware's hardware, but I'm still not entirely sold on SteamOS.

Oversaturation. Too many options will kill it.
There are already thousands of configurations. The vendors appear to be offering dual boot configurations, in some cases.
This is really just putting a label on it to expand the market. PC gaming is pretty terrifying for people who are used to consoles. Well, the people I meet.

I think this will only work out if it ends up cheaper than it's desktop equivalent.

It's a PC. Pretty much all of them will roundhouse kick PS4 and XBone graphics, while (in a couple years) costing way less.

lol. So your 400 dollar steambox will still be roundhouse kicking ps4 and xbone graphics in seven years? No. It will be going out of date in 3 years if you're lucky, while the ps4/xbone will be just hitting their stride in 3 years.
