News from 2015 - 3ds selling more than 360 and XBone combined, Wii U consoles in high demand with stores in short supply.
In other news, in a summers night of 2015 Pachter dies and the world carries on. Reason of death; depression, nobody listening to his cries for attention and butthurt by Nintendo's success!

Yeah, piss off the 5 million loyal Nintendo fans and then beg them to come back with a new console in a few years....Oh, and build up the user base of Sony and MSFT. Brilliant.
How Patcher has a job is beyond me. I get better insight into the gaming industry from these boards than anything he says.
Nintendo just need to market better and release more games.

No. I think the Wii U will sell less than PS4 and Xbox1. I also think Pachter's idea is completely stupid. First of all, most Nintendo fans will get a Wii U. There would be some people that would play Nintendo games on PS4 if it came out on that though, so that's the good thing about Pachter's idea: More people would buy Nintendo's games, thereby Nintendo would make some money through that. But the people who bought the Wii U, i.e. Nintendo's most important fanbase, would be really pissed off about a decision like that. So in the future, nobody would ever buy a Nintendo console again, people would wait for the games to come out on other platforms, so they don't have to buy a Nintendo console, AND a lot of Nintendo fans would stop being Nintendo fans. Maybe it would be a smart move by Nintendo to become a software and handheld only company, but that would have to happen after the lifecycle of the Wii U.
But instead of ditching the idea for a future home console, they could also try to be smart and come up with a product that everybody would like to buy. Which of these two routes they'll choose, we don't know, but we can at least say that Pachter's idea is a really bad one.

he's got a point, nobody is buying the WiiU & people with the WiiU are not buying any games, people are not going to pay £300 to play a couple of Mario & Zelda games.
there is little point in defending the WiiU anymore Iwata has admitted the WiiU has failed, what is Nintendo going to do carry on supporting & paying stores for shelf space until 2018/20 ?
